Great food, service and lovely little restaurant with beautiful courtyard. Get the mango sticky rice!

For end of springs, we decided to visit a not so obvious beach town right next to Santa Barbara. Carpinteria is offers perfect mix of beach, relaxation atmosphere. It is the perfect weekend getaway spot. When it comes to end of our night, we wanted some Asian food. Siam Elephant caught our eyes right away. From the moment we set food in the restaurant. This place is authentic as it can gets. Once we entered, we were quickly seated. The staffs brought us menu and water. To cut to the chase, we ordered a stir fry dish and curry. They are tasteful and very healthy. The flavor balance is just right. The portion is spot on to feed 2 people. Overall, we had a good experience. read more

Mitch opened early to accommodate our large party. He sat us at 4 tables in the beautiful dog friendly patio. He was even able to let our group of 22 have separate checks! The food was amazing as always. I have the asparagus and local avocado salad with shrimp. My friends loved the chicken satay and the Tom Kha soup and the specials. I love taking new friends here they always love it as much as I do. read more

Indoor and patio options. We had a great dinner here. Ordered green curry, Pumpkin curry and mango sticky rice. The medium rice comes in a big container! Enough for maybe 4 people? It was so much for just the 2 of us but only $5 so all good. The pumpkin curry was the favorite of the 2. Highly recommend. They come medium which is relatively spicy to some but perfect for me. Great service! Friendly staff! Loved the mango sticky rice. $66 after tip for dinner for 2. read more

This is our first time here, and we came based on a recommendation from a local friend. The pad Thai was excellent, and we also enjoyed the fresh spring rolls and chicken satay. We finished with the delightful mango sticky rice, making for a well-balanced meal. There's outdoor seating where kids can relax, and the fresh air and breeze were fantastic! I highly recommend this place!amazing service too! read more

Such a standout. Food was quick, good value, and amazing. The staff are the absolute sweetest people. 10/10 will be going back

We had take out from Siam twice when we stayed in Carpinteria! This place is cute, clean, and cozy feeling. The food was flavorful! We had the glass noodle, the fried rice with chicken and the chicken satay!! Oh the ice coffee was awesome!!!! Although, we had take out, the service was great! I didn't wait too long and the food was packaged so nicely. The service was awesome!!!! One of our places to frequent every time we visit Carpinteria!!! read more

Siam Elephant Thai Restaurant - Pad knew something but it's glass noodle with chicken! - Thai Near Me - Carpinteria, California

The curry just didn't taste right. The curry doesn't come with rice. The people are friendly and fast. Also no fork with my Togo order.

Really good food. Big portions so you can share. Everyone was super friendly. Very clean, inside/outside seating. Very reasonably priced. read more

Having come from a very cold climate, it was such a treat to sit outside in January and appreciated the heaters. They were very very busy, which is always a good sign so service was super slow, but the food was very good. read more

Such great service and ambiance. The food has the perfect amount of saltiness and seasoning. I lived in Thailand for a few years and the flavors were authentic and delicious. read more

So bummed! This used to be our favorite Thai spot but they changed the menu. Everything got more expensive with smaller portions and the Tom Kha soup now has tofu instead of chicken. Overall the flavor is not as good as it used to be too, I guess that's what you get with new owners. I'm most heartbroken about the Tom Kha which before was the best I've ever had. Sad, I'm a local and will not be coming here anymore. read more

Needing a dinner spot Christmas night brought us to Siam Elephant. Service was stellar and inviting. Best chicken Satay I've ever tasted. Wonton soup was to perfection. read more

We liked the service, everyone was nice and friendly, the menu options were great! We ordered pad Thai special and cashew chicken special. We like that it came with salad n 3 fried items. but the chicken was rubbery , like it was old, and the pad Thai was sooo salty, I could barely eat it and it didn't seem like the noodles were fresh. They were a little mushy and over sauced and greasy. It didn't come with cilantro or a lime to squeeze( like other pad Thai ) on it and after a while, it all tasted like mushy greasy mess. Some of the shrimp was undercooked. We were afraid we were going to be sick afterwards. I don't think we will be going back there again, very disappointed. and the bathroom was really gross and smelled. read more

First night in Carpinteria for Memorial Day Weekend and we needed to find a place that offered patio seating and dog friendly, and Siam Elephant it was! We got there just before the dinner rush and asked for patio dining, and they were apologetic for making us wait while they got our table cleaned up and ready! No worries at all!! We got seated and the wait staff asked for our drink orders, and when those came out, we were ready for our dinner. Their specials were a great price at $20 with the entree choice, and it came with appetizers (spring roll, gyoza, shrimp tempura and rice) and soup. I got the Pad See Ew with tofu and that was delish! My husband got the Panang Curry, my BIL got the Red Curry, my sister got the Eggplant Basil, my son got the Gyoza appetizer plate and Dad got the Fried Catfish. Everyone liked their meal and we ended it with Sticky Rice with Mango! They even came out and had fresh water bowl for my sister's dog which was very nice! The customer service was top notch and the food was amazing! Definitely recommended!! read more

I walked in with a group of 14, and not only did the (lovely) owner accommodate us, but the food was excellent, service was top notch, and the darling patio made for a beautiful backdrop for our dinner. Everyone was happy. The Thai tea was popular among our group, and everyone enjoyed their food. My Pad Thai was very, very good - I'm glad I didn't elect to share with my daughter, because that meant I could take the leftovers home and enjoy it a second time. Would definitely return. The prices were also very reasonable. Ample street parking makes for an easy visit. And the street where the restaurant is located is darling, which means you can enjoy a nice pre- or post-dinner stroll. read more

The food here is delicious. I like Thai food and they they do the very best job here.

I went for the first time and never tried Thai food but this place definitely hits it I went with a friend of mine I had the yellow curry it was definitely delicious I didn't have it with rice because I'm not a rice kinda guy and I had it with beef. The service was good, it wasn't crowded just as soon as they opened at 5. The ambiance of the place was great for being quiet and a little to quiet with not that many people around. I'd be back again to try something else. If you have any suggestions for me to try let me know. read more

Patio dining available pets welcome outside in the patio area . We walked from Carpinteria state beach after frolicking in the water , it's about a 2-3 blocks distance . Saturday night for dinner gets pretty busy , the staff here were wonderful , they took our orders fairly quickly and replenished our drinks often . Our kids liked their beef shrimps fried rice , I like their mango aid sticky rice dessert , Rice were cooked perfectly. Pad Thai isn't the best here compared to other Thai restaurants we had . My daughter says it's like eating peanuts , they had so much peanuts on top , missing the sweet , tart and savory flavors . My Rad Na friend noodles , chicken Tom Kah were too salty for me . It's not the best Thai food IMO, but beats eating fast food . read more

I've been her a few times, and everytime we visit. The last time we visited was a little later in the evening. While other restaurant were either closing or making us wait to be seated, we decided to stop in. We we were immediately seated, and within 10 minutes food and drinks were in front of us. We enjoyed the food, and appreciated the customer service. read more

Check out this local eatery in Carpenteria. Obviously a locals hangout, surprisingly busy for families and takeout. Ended up with a table in the spillover patio, fortunately with space heaters on a chilly evening. My only complaint was understaffing during a very busy evening. Food was great, flavorable and generous, perhaps a little mild for a four out of five heat range. I would also suggest a little less cornstarch to feature more natural juices. However, due to the popularity in this beach community, it's obvious this hangout satisfies the local community and my needs for the evening. read more

Great local spot. I always get the chicken pad thai- it's delicious. Extremely generous portions. Food looked so good I forgot to take pictures before devouring it. My friends and I asked for a bottle of cold sake and server brought warm sake. We didn't correct the mistake and the sake was fine, it was a cold day and we were sitting outside so I can see how the mistake could be made. That's the reason for only 4 stars. Overall though excellent service and food. Will be back. read more

Had the lunch special. Great deal! It was ready fast and it really well put together. Highly recommend.

The food is average. Service is good can't say anything bad about the employees. But the receipts they use not great. Ambiance is good, they have sits inside and outside, which is nice for sunny days. I wouldn't want to come back though, there are better Thai restaurants I have tried read more

Step into this warm, cozy, slice of Thailand in downtown Carpinteria and treat yourself to some delicious and authentic Thai cuisine. Wendy and her husband will serve you love and food and fill your tummy and soul at the same time. We recently moved from Los Angeles so we have many Thai restaurants to choose from. We weren't expecting to find out favorite place right here in town. We love their honey roasted rib, pork jerky and other delicious treats. Reasonably priced as well. Please treat yourself to a wonderful experience. read more

Can't believe I'm gonna say this, but this might be my family's new favorite Thai restaurant and we're so sad it's not local to us! This place is definitely best appreciated family style so you can try a wide range of their dishes. We ordered tom kha (starter), mixed vegetables with beef, pad see lew, pineapple fried rice, thai basil eggplant with beef, yellow curry with chicken, and ended with the mango sticky rice (dessert). Every dish was amazing, we couldn't stop piling every option on our plates and every combo seemed to go well together! Highlights Yellow Curry with Chicken: The curry was flavorful, the vegetables and potatoes had the perfect texture, and you could really taste the spices. Yellow curry isn't usually my favorite, but WOW this one single handedly changed my mind. Pineapple Fried Rice: I'm a big fan of pineapple fried rice and struggle to find places that have it or have one that I'm excited about. This one was exactly what I was hoping for and my parents who have never had pineapple fried rice before were so impressed! The pineapple wasn't overpowering and the roasted cashews really made the dish. Thai Basil Eggplant with Beef: This was undoubtedly the best Thai eggplant I've had. Maybe it was because the eggplant was cut up into smaller pieces than I've usually seen or it was just the delicious sauce, but something about it was extra flavorful and the eggplant texture was ideal. Mango Sticky Rice: Oooh if this is in season, you have to try! It was such a great way to end our meal. The mango was ripe and the sticky rice had the right amount of sweetness, it was so cozy and warm. [ Parking ] We went on a weeknight, but seems like there's plenty of free street parking. We got a spot right out front. [ Seating ] A good amount of indoor seating with some booths, there was also an outdoor patio area with seating [ Service ] The staff was so kind and attentive! Our water glasses were never empty and they somehow always managed to clear the plates the moment we finished. The food was served quickly too! read more

It's the best option for Thai in Carpinteria. Friendly staff, some outdoor seating. It has a low key, small town, downtown vibe. Fast service and good option for takeout as well. read more

We ordered a good amount of food because 1.) we were extremely hungry and 2.) we wanted enough to take home and eat the next day. The waitress starts questioning the amounts of food we ordered and then starts schooling me on the menu like I have never been there before. Who was she? Why is she questioning our order? Why is she assuming I don't know the menu? Is she questioning the people AROUND US, TOO? Now I have speculation as to why she was questioning us...we did look a little "differently" from the packed house of customers, but I'm going to give her the benefit of doubt of being ignorant. Fix that chick quickly. Get her off the floor. Teach her never to assume and to STOP QUESTIONING THE CUSTOMER ABOUT WHAT HE OR SHE WANTS. I spend way too much money here for that. I'll add one star because the food is always good...even after her disrespect. read more

Small cockroach crawling on the table on 01/14/2025 while I waited for my order at around 6:30 pm on a Tuesday night. I alerted one of the waitresses and she came over and scooped it up with her hand and apologized. I also read some cases of people getting food poisoning recently on this yelp page. Unfortunately this experience changed my perception about this cute and bustling spot as a first time patron as it warrants a report to the local food and restaurant industry oversight agency. read more

If I could give this a Zero I would. This place was horrible. It took forever to just get the order in and it was wrong missing items. This was after the waitress took two tries at taking the order 10 min in between. They messed up Tom yum Goong soup and Phad Kra praew moo without my rice. I even ordered in Thai so she could not get the order wrong. I don't know where they got their recipe for Tom Yum Goong but it was horrible. I didnt even finish it. The Phad Kra Praew moo was worse. Was not minced and had some other filler vegetables in there. How can you mess up that dish? I didnt even eat it after spitting out the sliced pork. The Rag Na wasnt served with the correct noodles. Basically there was a lot of uneaten food at the table. Should have just gotten fried rice. 555 I guess the people in Carp have zero clue of what Thai food is. In their defense there was just a couple tables when we arrived and it got filled up quickly, but still you can't mess up the easiest dishes to make. Service was bad and the food was bad. The location is nice right on the Blvd. and you can sit in the cool teak huts, but thats about the extent of my excitement. The pricing was maybe a dollar or two above average but I guess that depends on location. They do have a $20 combo special which was reasonable if the food was worth it. read more

Great Thai food! Live the outdoor eating especially the little wooden Thai style area. My favorite is the pumpkin curry.

Me and my friend went for lunch and as soon as we got there we were sat we both ordered the garlic pepper with rice when we got the rice it was shaped like a flower and a heart and I really liked it. The sauce of the garlic pepper was so good I ended up drizzling that sauce and some chicken to pair with the rice over all really good read more

So the presentation is nice, and the ingredients look correct,,,but the actual FLAVOR IS REALLY lacking. I had pad Thai and husband had sweat sour combo's. I do not want to disparage a hard working restaurant, but these two dishes tasted like old oil is what hurt the dishes . I have to say I would Not return but I wish them luck because they were respectfully and honestly trying to conduct a business. I'd be curious to see what other people think of the food or was I there on an off day ⁉ read more

We had an amazing dinner here last night. The Tom Kha shrimp soup was amazing. The Thai basil leaves with chicken was great and had a yummy flavor. We ordered medium spicy and could've ordered hot easy. The service was impeccable, and they even tried to teach us how to say a few words in Thai, which we failed at miserably, but they had a good attitude about it. Definitely five out of five would go again. read more
