So bummed! This used to be our favorite Thai spot but they changed the menu. Everything got more expensive with smaller portions and the Tom Kha soup now has tofu instead of chicken. Overall the flavor is not as good as it used to be too, I guess that's what you get with new owners. I'm most heartbroken about the Tom Kha which before was the best I've ever had. We liked the service, everyone was nice and friendly, the menu options were great! We ordered pad Thai special and cashew chicken special. We like that it came with salad n 3 fried items. but the chicken was rubbery , like it was old, and the pad Thai was sooo salty, I could barely eat it and it didn't seem like the noodles were fresh. They were a little mushy and over sauced and greasy. It didn't come with cilantro or a lime to squeeze( like other pad Thai ) on it and after a while, it all tasted like mushy greasy mess. Some of the shrimp was undercooked. We were afraid we were going to be sick afterwards. First night in Carpinteria for Memorial Day Weekend and we needed to find a place that offered patio seating and dog friendly, and Siam Elephant it was! We got there just before the dinner rush and asked for patio dining, and they were apologetic for making us wait while they got our table cleaned up and ready! No worries at all!! We got seated and the wait staff asked for our drink orders, and when those came out, we were ready for our dinner. Their specials were a great price at $20 with the entree choice, and it came with appetizers (spring roll, gyoza, shrimp tempura and rice) and soup. I got the Pad See Ew with tofu and that was delish! My husband got the Panang Curry, my BIL got the Red Curry, my sister got the Eggplant Basil, my son got the Gyoza appetizer plate and Dad got the Fried Catfish. Everyone liked their meal and we ended it with Sticky Rice with Mango! They even came out and had fresh water bowl for my sister's dog which was very nice! I went for the first time and never tried Thai food but this place definitely hits it I went with a friend of mine I had the yellow curry it was definitely delicious I didn't have it with rice because I'm not a rice kinda guy and I had it with beef. The service was good, it wasn't crowded just as soon as they opened at 5. The ambiance of the place was great for being quiet and a little to quiet with not that many people around. I walked in with a group of 14, and not only did the (lovely) owner accommodate us, but the food was excellent, service was top notch, and the darling patio made for a beautiful backdrop for our dinner. Everyone was happy. The Thai tea was popular among our group, and everyone enjoyed their food. My Pad Thai was very, very good - I'm glad I didn't elect to share with my daughter, because that meant I could take the leftovers home and enjoy it a second time. Would definitely return. The prices were also very reasonable. Ample street parking makes for an easy visit. And the street where the restaurant is located is darling, which means you can enjoy a nice pre- or post-dinner stroll. read more

Check out this local eatery in Carpenteria. Obviously a locals hangout, surprisingly busy for families and takeout. Ended up with a table in the spillover patio, fortunately with space heaters on a chilly evening. My only complaint was understaffing during a very busy evening. Food was great, flavorable and generous, perhaps a little mild for a four out of five heat range. I would also suggest a little less cornstarch to feature more natural juices. Patio dining available pets welcome outside in the patio area . We walked from Carpinteria state beach after frolicking in the water , it's about a 2-3 blocks distance . Saturday night for dinner gets pretty busy , the staff here were wonderful , they took our orders fairly quickly and replenished our drinks often . Our kids liked their beef shrimps fried rice , I like their mango aid sticky rice dessert , Rice were cooked perfectly. Pad Thai isn't the best here compared to other Thai restaurants we had . My daughter says it's like eating peanuts , they had so much peanuts on top , missing the sweet , tart and savory flavors . My Rad Na friend noodles , chicken Tom Kah were too salty for me . Great local spot. I always get the chicken pad thai- it's delicious. Extremely generous portions. Food looked so good I forgot to take pictures before devouring it. My friends and I asked for a bottle of cold sake and server brought warm sake. We didn't correct the mistake and the sake was fine, it was a cold day and we were sitting outside so I can see how the mistake could be made. That's the reason for only 4 stars. Can't believe I'm gonna say this, but this might be my family's new favorite Thai restaurant and we're so sad it's not local to us! This place is definitely best appreciated family style so you can try a wide range of their dishes. We ordered tom kha (starter), mixed vegetables with beef, pad see lew, pineapple fried rice, thai basil eggplant with beef, yellow curry with chicken, and ended with the mango sticky rice (dessert). Every dish was amazing, we couldn't stop piling every option on our plates and every combo seemed to go well together! Highlights Yellow Curry with Chicken: The curry was flavorful, the vegetables and potatoes had the perfect texture, and you could really taste the spices. Yellow curry isn't usually my favorite, but WOW this one single handedly changed my mind. Pineapple Fried Rice: I'm a big fan of pineapple fried rice and struggle to find places that have it or have one that I'm excited about. This one was exactly what I was hoping for and my parents who have never had pineapple fried rice before were so impressed! The pineapple wasn't overpowering and the roasted cashews really made the dish. Thai Basil Eggplant with Beef: This was undoubtedly the best Thai eggplant I've had. Maybe it was because the eggplant was cut up into smaller pieces than I've usually seen or it was just the delicious sauce, but something about it was extra flavorful and the eggplant texture was ideal. Mango Sticky Rice: Oooh if this is in season, you have to try! It was such a great way to end our meal. The mango was ripe and the sticky rice had the right amount of sweetness, it was so cozy and warm. [ Parking ] We went on a weeknight, but seems like there's plenty of free street parking. We got a spot right out front. [ Seating ] A good amount of indoor seating with some booths, there was also an outdoor patio area with seating [ Service ] The staff was so kind and attentive! We ordered a good amount of food because 1.) we were extremely hungry and 2.) we wanted enough to take home and eat the next day. The waitress starts questioning the amounts of food we ordered and then starts schooling me on the menu like I have never been there before. Who was she? Why is she questioning our order? Why is she assuming I don't know the menu? Is she questioning the people AROUND US, TOO? Now I have speculation as to why she was questioning us...we did look a little "differently" from the packed house of customers, but I'm going to give her the benefit of doubt of being ignorant. Fix that chick quickly. Get her off the floor. Teach her never to assume and to STOP QUESTIONING THE CUSTOMER ABOUT WHAT HE OR SHE WANTS. I spend way too much money here for that. If I could give this a Zero I would. This place was horrible. It took forever to just get the order in and it was wrong missing items. This was after the waitress took two tries at taking the order 10 min in between. They messed up Tom yum Goong soup and Phad Kra praew moo without my rice. I even ordered in Thai so she could not get the order wrong. I don't know where they got their recipe for Tom Yum Goong but it was horrible. I didnt even finish it. The Phad Kra Praew moo was worse. Was not minced and had some other filler vegetables in there. How can you mess up that dish? I didnt even eat it after spitting out the sliced pork. The Rag Na wasnt served with the correct noodles. Basically there was a lot of uneaten food at the table. Should have just gotten fried rice. 555 I guess the people in Carp have zero clue of what Thai food is. In their defense there was just a couple tables when we arrived and it got filled up quickly, but still you can't mess up the easiest dishes to make. Service was bad and the food was bad. The location is nice right on the Blvd. and you can sit in the cool teak huts, but thats about the extent of my excitement. The pricing was maybe a dollar or two above average but I guess that depends on location. They do have a $20 combo special which was reasonable if the food was worth it. read more

We had an amazing dinner here last night. The Tom Kha shrimp soup was amazing. The Thai basil leaves with chicken was great and had a yummy flavor. We ordered medium spicy and could've ordered hot easy. The service was impeccable, and they even tried to teach us how to say a few words in Thai, which we failed at miserably, but they had a good attitude about it. Me and my friend went for lunch and as soon as we got there we were sat we both ordered the garlic pepper with rice when we got the rice it was shaped like a flower and a heart and I really liked it. I came to this location on a Saturday afternoon around 2 pm and there was a few parking spots left in front. My sister and I were immediately seated and there was lots of seats to choose from but don't let that deter you the food was so fresh and delicious. The staff was very friendly and attentive. They have inside seating and outdoor seating. We sat in their outdoor patio area. We ordered the combination special pad Thai and chicken satay and we did split both of them. I will first say the sides they come with are just superb. Im obsessed with the soup and the egg rolls. They were all hot and fresh I didn't get the vibe that anything was left sitting I literally felt like the food went from the pot to my plate it was so fresh and good! The pad Thai was really good I would def order it again and the chicken satay was just as good I would say the peanut sauce for the satay was actually lacking in flavor but no worries there was lots of other sauces I can dip it in. I do not want to disparage a hard working restaurant, but these two dishes tasted like old oil is what hurt the dishes . Back when I interviewed with Procore, I had a lovely lunch at Siam Elephant. Their Pad See Ew is vibrant and flavorful, which I liked since it had a strong soy flavor and paired well with tender broccoli.
