Thai Bistro has the best salad (Mango Fish Salad) out of anywhere in all of Santa Barbara and beyond! It is so unique that maybe you wouldn't ever think of trying it but the flavors burst in a perfect combination in your mouth and you can tell every single ingredient is fresh and the food is made with love! I have tried the Pad Thai and the Chicken Satay as well and everything is good! The servers are all so kind and attentive and I highly suggest going to this wonderful restaurant! Wow! I really had to keep reminding myself to take pictures before we gobbled up all the food. We got the fried Tofu, Vegetable Pad Thai, Vegetable Pineapple Fried Rice and Spicy Eggplant with Tofu. Everything was absolutely delicious! The pineapple fried rice in particular had so much flavor. The two gentlemen that were at the front were very attentive and friendly. We had Pad See Ew and Khao Soi with Tom Yum Soup! Pad See Ew doesn't look as dark as ones I get from other places, but it tastes good and isn't overly salty! I liked it! I had Khao Soi for the first time and it was really nice too! The portions are big imo and I was SOOOO full. I finished the Khao Soi, but really I should have taken some leftovers home. If you want really good Thai food served by very friendly and welcoming people who are very efficient, this is the place. We had the Pad Thai and pad kee mao. One with pork and two with tofu. Both were very flavorful and some really nicely. The restaurant has an open and light feeling. The decor is simple, but I was there for the food, not the decorations. I live near to and have eaten at Thai Bistro with my family many times in the past. We have enjoyed their food. I will never eat at their restaurant again. The restaurant owner towed my car for not reading a generic "Thomas Towing" sign in a shared lot with their neighbor Kimchi Korean BBQ (with whom now I understand they are having a parking war with). The lot was empty when I parked. I wasn't given a warning or note on the windshield. I confronted the the Thai Bistro owner and explained that this sort of act drives away customers and that a shared lot is just naturally awkward. She could care less. I had to arrange a ride to the impound lot and pay $480. A fee that feels wildly disproportionate. To the towing staff, it was just another routine tow. To me, it was my night derailed, $480 gone, and a permanent resentment toward Thai Bistro. This is not a good way to gain customers. This is how you lose customers. I will never recommend Thai Bistro to anyone, ever. read more

Ordered take out! Got chicken satay and fresh rolls to supplement a homemade meal. Chicken satay is a classic appetizer and was good with the peanut sauce and sweet cucumbers it came with. The Fresh rolls are refreshing but definitely not anything to be crazy about. It's like a salad wrapped in rice paper. We opted for tofu and they put one piece of tofu per roll. They use the same peanut sauce as the chicken satay. I would have to come back and try their entrees to give a more in depth review. read more

Not only is Thai Bistro's food excellent, fresh, delicious, light, flavorful, and amazing as it is, but most--if not all--of it either is gluten-free as-is, or it can be made gluten-free. That, I've known for a while. But today, I ordered fish in a dish for the first time. It was a sweet-and-sour dish, and I expected that it's gluten-free version would include just chunks of white fish. However, to my absolute delight, the fish came in perfect portions of what I believed to be Panko encrusted fish. It was 100% gluten-free. It was 100% delicious. I had no idea that GF option even existed, and as a lonely in options, gluten-free person in Santa Barbara, I am beyond excited. We came here the night before Thanksgiving, it was completely packed and while I had sympathy for the one person waiting on the whole room, we still received fast, friendly service. We ordered tom kha, cucumber salad, basil fried rice with chicken and pad thai with shrimp. Everything was so fresh and delicious! Some of the best thai food in SB. I was even craving that fried rice the next day and wanted to go back! The shrimp included on the pad thai were huge and juicy, nice wok charring on all relevant items, the cuke salad was super crunchy, cold and so good. The menu also had some things you dont typically see on a standard menu such as a few street food items which I thought was cool. Ambiance was simple and casual seating. Even with a full room and hard surfaces, it wasn't too loud in there because of the baffling they have on the ceiling which was nice. Could still have a conversation with those at our table. Lunch is Offered Mon. - Fri. From 11am to 2:30 The ambiance is spacious and I've been lucky thusfar, to come here when it's not too busy. Parking is located on the street. On my latest visit I tried the spicy dish Pad Kee Mao, also known as Drunken Noodles, which was a bold and spicy Thai dish. It was spicier than expected for me, but still delicious. The Pad Thai here is sweet, savory, and full of flavors with every mouthful. This Thai classic dish will transport your taste buds to the bustling streets of Bangkok. Delicious flavorful Thai food with a comfortable ambiance and reasonable prices and generous portions. They can adjust spice level to mild, medium or hot. Pleasant staff working there . Visited 2 times so far and had the chicken green curry, garlic pepper pork which comes on bed of broccoli, fish fresh cakes appetizer, beef panang curry, Thai basil chicken with egg on top. A casual spot for Thai eats in Santa Barbara -- they were able to accomodate our large party of ~20 with a reservation booked a week or so in advance, which I'm grateful for. They pushed together tables so we could eat in 2 large groups. All of the food is great for family-style sharing, and there were tons of vegetarian options. The food here is pretty decent, but nothing crazy out of the ordinary -- they have all of the Thai classics, and we got Pad See Ew, Pad Kee Mow, and Pineapple Fried Rice to share. We call Uber eats for our late dinner. We ordered beef pho mild spicy and non-spicy one. The mild was way too hot, even my spicy--food-loving son was complaining about it. I think they messed up. The non-spicy beef pho had good broth flavor. Both of them come with 3 beef balls and 2 piece of beef chunks. The beef balls were good, but as soon as I bite into the beef, I spitted it out. It really didn't taste good. We threw those away. The 3 big BBQ piece of pork chops were cooked to perfection. You have to order rice with it. Too much for one person to eat. Downfall, beef chuck in beef broth was not the right kind of beef for beef noodle soup. And they forgot to pack silverware . We had to make request from our hotel staff. read more

I really wanted to love this restaurant since it's really the only Thai place in town with decent reviews, and I was honestly kinda disappointed in the Pad Thai. There was a lack of flavor..... The restaurant is tastefully decorated, service is super nice, parking is easy to find and the bathrooms are clean. This new restaurant gives you all the feels and flavor of thai food. They have some of the most flavorful pad Thai that I have ever tasted. You can also adjust the spicy element to the flavor. It was a generous portion enough for two people for an entree. We order with the chicken and the portion for the chicken was perfect. You don't spend time searching where the meat is at. For appetizers get the steamed dumplings and the duck rolls. The duck rolls are fried and are stuffed with fatty flavorful duck meat. Can also be filling as an entree or perfect for sharing. We ordered tom yum soup, panang curry, and a noodle dish with a name I've forgotten. The food has good flavor, but I was super disappointed by the lack of spice/heat. On the spiciness scale it was maybe a 3/10 tops. Make this goofy white boy sweat a little - come on!! To me the food was 3/5 but the staff was pleasant and I am rooting for these guys. SB desperately needs a high quality Thai food place that could hang with the heavyweights in bigger cities. This isn't that, but it has potential. Let's check back in a year or so. read more

The pad see ewe is on point, fresh broccoli, soft wide noodles, with that flavorful umami; great pineapple fried rice, flavorful parang curry, and I recently tried the mango curry (a house special with beautiful flavor levels). The sweet story is that I had miscalculated restaurants being open on a holiday (the 4th of July) and when I called to order they were just closing, but then the chef said she was there alone but if I gave her just a little bit extra time she would make it happen! Solid Thai food on upper state. Thai Bistro occupied the old Tap Thai building. I would say the food is more creative and have a wider variety than Tap Thai. The crab rangoon used real crab meat, which was a nice surprise. The dipping sauce is a sweet and sour plum sauce and I could see slivers of preserved plum. Grilled pork was very good and came in a decent portion size. This is the dish I would order again here. Bangkok soup noodle tasted similar to the version from Public market, but I wish it had less bean sprouts and incorporate some greens. The only dud of the evening was the Massaman curry. Flavor was on the weak side and the color seemed much lighter than Massaman curry I had at other restaurants. Thai Bistro is only a block from Your Choice which is normally my favorite Thai place in Santa Barbara. read more
