I feel like we ordered so much but every dish was an amazing highlight to the overall experience. Their pork belly fried rice, pad Thai, pad woonsen and crab rangoons made for such a flavorful meal. If I were to comeback again, I would definitely need to get the pad woonsen and their pork belly fried rice again! I could have those dishes every single day! Updating my review to say I've had only good experiences since ~ The owners and other staff are all very nice, and I've only ever even seen the staff member with the bad attitude one time since my last review, and he wasn't at the counter. I don't usually leave reviews based on service so now that that's out of the way... let's talk food! The food here is delicious, their curries and topless seafood being my favs!!! The panang curry and green curry in particular have been the best I've had in Santa Barbara by far, only a couple times were they watery but it's RARE and they are almost always amazing and very flavorful. Several thai places here in Santa Barbara have horrible, flavorless curry, so Your Choice having such good curry means a lot for me. The topless seafood... I don't even know how to describe it, but just try it!!! I'll say the noodles here have been a bit of a hit or miss for me, I tend to prefer the ones from Empty Bowl, only because I don't like when my noodles are overly chewy and tend to prefer them a bit more on the saucy side - but luckily I don't judge good/authentic Thai food by their noodles, I judge by curry... which is by far my favorite thing here! Another thing I look at to determine a good Thai spot, is their papaya salad, which is a solid 8.5/10 for me here. It's not the best I've ever had but it's still really good, and it'd probably get a solid 9 if it came with any type of seafood in it like some of the best papaya salads I've had do - but it's packed with flavor and is one of my favorite "lighter" dishes to eat, not to mention all the fiber. My only complaint with this place is that they charge for rice, it doesn't come with the curry/any other meals unless you get a lunch special, which is not standard for Thai restaurants outside of Santa Barbara... but I suppose that's the "premium" that comes with living here. Rice is so cheap to make that I find it a bit silly to charge so much for it, but... the rent has to get paid somehow and if it keeps the prices of other dishes from being higher - so be it, I guess? I personally don't get rice when ordering for takeout here ever as I can make it at home, but if you *are* eating at the restaurant, I recommend the sticky rice - they make it well and it feels a bit more "worth it" for the price I guess. Also very worth noting that their desserts and Saturday night dessert specials are really unique, delicious and fun. You can tell the owners really put love into the restaurant because they make some really creative desserts, and it's always from scratch! If it's not a Saturday night, I also highly recommend the ube vietnamese coffee as a treat, it's very good. Thank you Your Choice for the positive experiences and for making delicious Thai food. Your Choice is an absolute hidden gem for Thai food here in SB. I tried it for the first time last week, and ended up going back two days later because I could not stop thinking about the amazing food! The exterior is unassuming and so I have driven past many times. The interior is clean with lots of natural light coming in from the windows and spacious seating. We showed up right at 4pm for dinner and were seated immediately with menus and water. Our waiter was so friendly and patient, I could tell he was genuinely passionate about the food and answered all of our questions. We ordered the crab rangoons, chicken satay skewers, garlic pepper beef, pad Thai with beef, peach lemongrass iced tea and Thai iced tea. The flavors were INSANE! Everything tasted so fresh and was made with care down to the homemade dipping sauces. The mango sticky rice had perfectly ripe mangoes on a bed of sticky rice and a side of a whipped coconut cream. Very light and refreshing with a great balance of sweetness. The black sesame iced cream was really unique and had a more savory flavor to it. I'm visiting from Las Vegas and whenever I'm in California I always look for the highly recommended Thai restaurants. Your Choice was recommended by a native Santa Barbaran friend and this place did not disappoint. I had the papaya salad, very spicy as I liked it and they were kind enough to give me extra spices if I wanted to add more. Coupled with that I saw great reviews for the Chili Tamarind chicken wings and I finished those off in the car driving back home. The aim was to taste one but once I started I could not stop. So far this is the best Thai food I've tasted in Santa Barbara. Staff was very friendly and were kept busy with a packed restaurant (which in itself, says a lot). It's honestly about time for an update. My last review was back in 2016, and Your Choice continues to be one of those beloved neighborhood spots that truly deserves the love. The space has had a major indoor refresh, but the quality of the food and the genuine dining experience remain exactly the same. This is one of my go-to places whether I'm coming with friends or grabbing a casual bite with my daughter. It's consistently on point. The food hits every time, the vibe is welcoming, and it truly feels like a community hub rather than just a restaurant. Orders are handled quickly whether dining in or taking out. Even though I live in Ventura now, I always make a stop whenever I'm back in my hometown. Let's talk food. My favorites on the menu are the Thai chili lime wings, green papaya salad, hot pot of tom kha with chicken, garlic pepper shrimp, and spring rolls. I also love their Thai iced tea and Vietnamese coffee. Everything is perfect for sharing (or not), and leftovers somehow taste even better the next day. This is a family-owned business, and huge shoutout to Piti (son of the owner) and Kathy, who do such an amazing job running the restaurant and keeping it rooted in community. They're always finding ways to give back and create fun experiences. They also host Saturday evening ice cream pop-ups featuring their side-quest business, Creaminal, which honestly deserves a separate review of its own. We planned to visit Eat Creaminal for ice cream after searching Instagram for ice cream shops in Santa Barbara, and discovered it's located inside Your Choice Thai Restaurant, so we stayed for both dinner and dessert! Dinner was excellent. I forgot to snap photos before digging in, but every dish was flavorful and clearly homemade...deep, clean, and perfectly balanced. We ordered the Crispy Tofu Salad, Panang Seafood Curry, Basil Eggplant with Beef, Pork Belly Fried Rice, and Pad Thai with Chicken. Service was quick and considerate. We finished with ice cream (photos attached). I had Rocky's Matcha and Rocky's Houjicha, and also tried the Saffron Pistachio. Like the dinner dishes, each flavor was rich and delicious. I will definitely be coming back when visiting my niece at UCSB. We joked that I'll use the visit as an excuse just to eat here again! The restaurant is on a quieter stretch of State Street...easy to find, with parking behind the building and plenty of seating when we arrived for an early dinner. I have fond memories of this restaurant as I grew up in Santa Barbara. Since moving out 20 years ago though, Santa Barbara has changed a bit. Your Choice is one those places. I ordered take out this trip, but walking in, it feels more like a cafe now as opposed to sit down dining it was before. The folks there were friendly and polite, but a much more casual atmosphere. The food was good, not amazing like I remember it being. One of my favorite times, "beef satay" (beef skewers) was no longer on the menu. Chicken satay was on it. The pad Thai was solid. My wife found the papaya salad enjoyable, but a bit more on the tart side than she usually prefers. A little over $100, it was about enough to feed 3 adults. read more

I was recommended this by a friend and I am so glad! It wasn't super busy when I went in, even on a Saturday afternoon, and my food was ready pretty quickly. My pad Thai was lovely- with strong flavors of peanut, tamarind, and lime. The one drawback was that the shrimp did not taste fresh, which is a disappointment, especially so close to the coast. All of the staff are always incredibly kind and make the dining experience a breeze. My go-to order is always the pad see ew (with chicken) and a thai tea. This combo never fails for me and they simply make delicious food and drinks! Your Choice also sells/hosts Creaminal on Saturday nights for ice cream sundaes and sells ice cream pints on other days. The sundaes are always creative and yummy so I thought I'd mention that too! I find myself coming here for both the restaurant food and the ice cream pop-up! My favorite Thai place around!!!! Best customer service and quality food all around. Fave lunch spot and with great lunch specials as well as delicious choices, it's a sure thing! I have had a variety of fave foods from here from their Panang curry and jasmine rice to pad Thai and/ or glass noodles to their chicken skewers and papaya salad! I love it all. I have dined In and they are courteous and friendly but also quick to bring food during the lunch hour. Often times I order online and pick up and have always found parking in their small lot. People are always coming and going and they keep their customers happy with their quick and organized service. Best Thai in town. The TomKai Tofu soup is incredible, my mouth waters any time I think of it - the broth is coconut milk and lime, with chili oil, plus mushrooms, cilantro and tofu. That said, my daughter went on a quest to try and duplicate it when she moved to Seattle...she's a pretty good cook but she could not get it just right. When she went to Thailand, theirs was also not as good. Other than that, I really love their Chicken Satay, Larb Salad, Panang Curry, Lime Fish, Pineapple Fried Rice with Tofu, and so many other favorite dishes too many to list! The service is AAA+++ super excellent. It's a family run business. The current owners took over from their parents, they were often there as children doing their homework. One of my favorite restaurants in Santa Barbara. I've tried everything on the menu, and never had a dish I didn't love. Favorites are the chicken wings, green curry, and tom kha soup, but you literally cannot go wrong here. They're really creative and will serve specials sometimes based on what fruits / veggies are in season. It's rare, but sometimes they have an amazing cheesecake desert option. They also make a ton of unique ice cream flavors in house (with vegan options!) I think it's a family business, and they all come together to add their own unique artistic touch. Service is phenomenal, they go above and beyond. Sometimes the food can take a little while to prepare, but everything is home recipes made from scratch with high quality ingredients. I used to like this place because it is very close to where I live but it has gotten way more expensive than before(I guess their portion is bigger than other Thai restaurants). I ordered on their website for takeout. After you order, it doesn't let you know when you should come by to pick up it so I had to guesstimate. As I went in the pick up my order I was told I had to pay an extra $2.18 for that extra onions and carrots(I did not ask for) in the glass noodle salad because they didn't update their website when in comes to extras. The glass noodle salad that supposed to have extra cilantro tastes like carrot salad because they messed and gave me more carrots instead! I also got the spicy fried rice with beef(extra $2) but it had very little beef and more mushrooms, tasted more like mushroom fried rice. When I come here the fried chicken, the glass noodle salad and papaya salad are my usual favorites cause the flavor is always consistent. Their level 5 spice is not Thai spicy. I guess now they are charging for anything ask extra including onion and cilantro.... I may come back occasionally just because it is near by. But for now Yummy Thai is now my go to place! read more

The best Thai in SB! The Chili Tamarind chicken wings were amazing. The wings were crispy and came straight off the bone. The sauce makes it my favorite dish here because of how flavorful it is. We also got the Pad See Yew with chicken, and it came out fresh and hot. The portions here are very generous, and we had leftovers for the next day. Truly, it's Your Choice where you'd like to get Thai cuisine from, yet the reviews speak for themselves. I have never dined in here but have done take out several times. The staff is always friendly and welcoming. Food is consistently made fresh and hot. Now the reason for this review is that they produce one of my new fooddictions: Wonton Soup. Who knew?! But after a rainy coastal winter I discovered it. The broth is extremely flavorful and heartwarming. There are a couple pieces of chicken and a few shrimp to surprise you. We got a lot of things, among them my favorite (yellow chicken curry), which was flavorful and delicious and hit all the right spots (make sure to get it with rice). This is the second time I give it a shot and not impressed, again. Ordered the pad thai with chicken, spice level of 3. The taste was incredibly monotonous every single bite and it was overpowered by the garlic. So much garlic. I will give this place another shot but will order something different. A shame that the pad thai isn't to my liking bc I love pad thai. I did not get notes of the sweet and tangy tamarind, nor the savory-sweet. I will say that their ice cream is delicious. I've ordered a couple different flavors and they were spot on. I liked the Vietnamese coffee ice cream a lot. I recommend if you like spicy noodles, order level 5. You had to arrive early enough to stand in line and hope they don't run out of what you want. Of course, they ran out of the mango sticky rice after 30 minutes... right before us!
