    Baked Oysters

As a massive oyster enjoyer, I HIGHLY recommend coming here. I found their prices VERY affordable and especially when I compare it other oyster places I have been. The oysters are on the saltier side (a plus for me) and their baked oysters are delightful. The Land-chos were simply just amazing, these will for ever be ordered every time we come to SLO. The staff are amazing and welcoming. Shoutout the Shuck Shack

    Oysters and pet nat!

Absolutely the best place in SLO for wine and oysters!! Amazing food, the charcuterie type nachos, can't beat it! The pet nat is so delicious and refreshing. Reese helped us and she was so nice and explained what the best things to pair with what would be. The oysters were also perfectly shucked!! 10/10

I've been a visitor to Avila Beach for years (have timeshare here). I've been very remised to have never visited the Sinor-LaVallee tasting room. I just wasn't aware of it. Today I visited their somewhat new Shuck Shack. My visit was by far the best epicurean experience I've had at Avila Beach! It's not even something I expect to have here. I started with the 1/2 dozen Morro Bay oysters and the Uncommon Earth wine tasting (natural wines). Fantastic! I especially liked the Chenin Blanc (wonderful honey taste) and Valdiguie. I purchased both plus the local fermented hot sauce, which was also delicious. I also ordered their Local 5-Plate. What a treat! The components are locally sourced. The Stepladder Creamery Brie was a standout. A surprise was a ground salami; very tasty and fun. After tasting the Sinor-LaVallee SLO Granache, I purchased that too. This is a must try! I'm returning in a few days to do the Sinor-LaVallee tasting and I'm sure I'll be purchasing some more wines :) I also joined their very reasonable wine club. Shout out to Shae who lead me through this adventure. Lastly, while I was here, I learned that Mike Sinor (who served me) was responsible for the San Luis Obispo Coast AVA. Bless you :)

Oysters are great, wine and beer is great. We had to go back up and ask for the wine we ordered a while after the oysters and beer were served but they were busy with only two people working. Very nice patio with ocean view.

My wife and I come to Avila a few times a year. This location on the board walk area has been our favorite for nearly 15 years. On this trip we found out the business had changed hands and was now Shuck Shack's second location. We loved our previous experience but not so much at this location. We both had a cider. I'm not sure if their choice of ciders to sell was simply poor, or came out of a larger bottle that had been opened for days. It tasted very flat, both in flavor and body. We decided to try the orange wine for something different. Mmmm I wouldn't do that again. The dozen oysters were small and didn't come with usual set up. Kind of disappointing. There was a sandwich called the nduja melt that was very tasty. Not really a meal, but great on the side. All and all I'll give it one more try on our next trip out. Unfortunately though, if things don't improve we will have to find a new spot.

The best place in Avila beach! Oysters are 10/10 and I recommend the petnat! They also have tinned fish boards! Service is amazing and the vibe is perfect for a day in Avila

Shae and Esme are great! They bring such an easy, laid-back vibe that makes the whole experience super comfortable and enjoyable. Friendly, attentive, and genuinely fun to be around. Always a great time!

Wow wow wow we love the shuck shack. My boyfriend and I have recently become obsessed with oysters, and have been ordering them every chance we get. When we found a place called the "Shuck Shack" we were sold. This is a family owned wine and oyster bar that was so incredible. We decided on a half dozen oysters that we got to shuck ourselves! The daughter of the owner taught us step by step and it was such a cool experience. The family that owns this place also owns Sinor-Lavallee Wines, a winery near Avila Beach. While we worked on our oysters the man who runs both the winery and Shuck Shack was there to explain his wine journey to us, as well as his favorite wine options they served. If you are in Avila and love a chic wine and oyster experience, this one is for you!

brought some oysters back to our airbnb!

We ended up sitting inside to avoid the evening breeze, and it turned out to be the perfect choice. The dining room was quaint, cozy, and relatively quiet, making it easy for the six of us to have great conversation throughout dinner. We started with the ratatouille, which absolutely blew us away, the bubbling brie, which was rich, gooey, and beyond delicious, and an order of frites that were crispy and satisfying. For our entrees, our table ordered the duck à l'orange, scallops (which I ordered and they were spectacular), a burger, mushroom ravioli, a house garden salad, and a Caesar salad. The mushroom ravioli was incredible, the garden salad was much larger than expected and very fresh, and the Caesar salad was crisp and flavorful. Every dish was beautifully prepared, and the quality of the food really stood out. The only downsides were that the burger was served plain, even though lettuce and onion had been requested, and the service was a bit slower than expected. We had a 6:15 p.m. reservation, so we arrived before the dinner rush and anticipated a quicker pace. Overall, the outstanding food, charming atmosphere, and prime location made for a wonderful dining experience. We'd definitely return the next time we're in Avila Beach.

While the view is stunning, the food mostly holds its own. I had the Croque Monsieur which was delicious although a bit greasy. The Clam Chowder was the star attraction- creamy, hearty, and packed with flavor. It is on the pricier side, and service can slow down slightly when the patio fills up. However, for a high-quality lunch it is easily one of the best dining experiences in Avila Beach.

The way it works is you order at the bar, and then they will take down your phone number to text when your order is ready. However, it seemed like they were more using the loud speaker because I didn't receive the text until 9:57pm that night. My order was ready at 6:53, so we were looking at about a 23 minute wait - which I think is fair given how busy it was. The food itself was just okay to me. I didn't think it was anything to write home about, but that could be because I had some really great tri tip at the SLO Farmer's Market the day before. However, I will say, I really liked this place for the environment. There was live music, and a lot of table and chairs to just look out at the water and just enjoy the views. It was super family friendly, and I found it to be really enjoyable to just sit and hang out. I did find it odd that they close early (8pm) on a Friday night. At 7:59pm, the employees will come up to you to let you know that they close at 8pm, so it seems like they are strict about that.

The menu has all day breakfast, seafood, sandwiches, salads, and a kids meal. They have a lot of tri tip meals like a tri trip sandwich, tri tip nachos, and a tri tip salad. We decided to try the tri tip salad, chicken fajita quesadilla, garlic Parmesan fries, and the kids hot dog. The food came out hot and freshly made. The chicken fajita quesadilla came with a side of guacamole, pico de gallo, and guacamole. The serving size was large and definitely a meal that can be split between 2 people. The tri tip salad was delicious. The tri tip was tender and had a smoky flavor. The garlic Parmesan fries were not overly garlicky and had great flavor. They were crispy. I would get all of these items on the menu again. The restaurant has indoor or patio seating. You seat yourself. We sat on the patio and it was nice to see the ocean from our table. Not much sense in the hotels in the area giving out a discount card if you are "too busy". Just our family unit would have saved $9 if not for the excruciatingly difficult task to walk over for a few seconds and enter a code. But alas, it was not to be. Food was fine for kids who just want the basics. At least it's clean inside. That's the one thing going for it I guess. And the kids plates are Frisbees, so that's fun. But please don't think a tip is warranted after waiting for seven minutes to get a manager. I understand it's a manager code, but they aren't state secrets. We're six families deep on this trip, so that's significant "up charge". We will visit other restaurants during our stay from now on.

We checked in and was seated within 10 minutes at a booth that overlooked the beautiful views of the Pismo Beach coast line. Our server, a younger black woman, who told us her nickname was 'TiTi', if I'm not mistaken, was wonderful. Her personality and hospitality was infectious and exceeded 5 stars. She brought us fresh hot corn and flour tortillas with a small cup of brown sugar butter and three different salsas to try. Everything was delicious. We ordered the surf and turf special which was a jumbo shrimp on top of a filet mignon that rested on mash potatoes and a creamy/savory white sauce. We also ordered the lobster Mac and cheese. We had a reservation for a birthday dinner and arrived about 30 minutes early. We were told we'd be seated closer to our reservation time, which was completely understandable. However, as we waited, we watched several groups (including walk-ins without reservations) get seated before us. Even after our reservation time had passed, we had to check in with the host again before we were finally seated, despite there being plenty of empty tables. The service at the front definitely could have been handled better. The food, on the other hand, was very good with a great variety of options. I loved that they start you off with freshly made tortillas, cinnamon butter, and salsa to share. I ordered the Campechana de Mariscos, which was fresh, generously portioned, and perfect for sharing. We also had the Molcajete, and it was delicious! It came with a great mix of steak, chicken, chorizo, jumbo shrimp, nopal, and cheese. The portion was generous and easily enough for two people. Other dishes we ordered also included the pozole, chicken nachos, and lobster mac and cheese. Everything was delicious as well! The mac and cheese especially. For drinks, I tried the Golden Hour nonalcoholic cocktail, and unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend it. It tasted like watered-down ginger beer with no carbonation and only the faintest hint of pineapple. It was more on the bitter taste. Overall, this is a great restaurant for the ocean views and flavorful food. The portions are generous, and there's something for everyone on the menu. The only downside was the host service and the unnecessary wait despite having a reservation. I'd still come back for the food and the scenery.
