Updating my review. Let's see. Restaurant full because the food is great. Smiling , happy looking , must have had a yum experience. Service is friendly and courteous always. What's the ambiance? Check out my pics and see for yourself! OPEN DURING SUPERBOWL! 2026

    HUASNA HUEVOS RANCHEROS

Enjoyed the classic HUASNA HUEVOS RANCHEROS. Nothing fancy, the tortillas were soggy and everything was pretty oily. Lacked a punch of heat or a complimentary sauce. Very straight to the point and classic. My friend enjoyed a tamale and eggs. Again it lacked a complimentary sauce or salsa. We asked for their side sauces and salsa and just not hot enough! Not a bad place to stop for brunch. Service was great, patio is cute. Ran into a ton of cute dogs so not a bad day!

This place was such a gem to find! My boyfriend and I were in the area looking for good food and had our dog with us, so we were especially happy to find a spot that was pet-friendly. The space is cozy and lively. It was definitely busy, but the wait wasn't bad at all - about 15 minutes for outdoor patio seating when we arrived around 11:00 AM. They even offer dog-friendly menu items, which is such a cute and thoughtful idea. We ordered the clam chowder and the chile verde omelette. The chowder was honestly the star of the show--rich, creamy, and chunky, with generous pieces of seafood that made it extra satisfying. The chile verde omelette was also a solid choice, filled with tender pork and a savory chile verde sauce, paired with refried beans and potatoes (I was able to sub them in instead of the tortillas, which was nice). We also tried the zucchini muffin, which had great flavor, though it was a bit crumbly for my taste. Overall, this is a great spot for a Mexican-inspired brunch, especially if you're dining with your pup. Being just blocks away from the beach makes it even better. Definitely worth checking out!

It was pretty quiet when we showed up at about 9 am. Seated quick no wait. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Service was good everyone was very friendly and quick to address anything we needed. My review is mostly on the service as the food for me was just ok. We got the chilaquiles and breakfast with French toast. The chilaquiles were ok. It has so much going on many type of onion peppers and sauce had no flavor and the heaviness of everything just mashed into one thing. The beans were good but rice also had no flavor. I tried the salsa on the side but also had no flavor and heat. The bacon and egg breakfast with the French toast was good. We asked for crispy bacon and that's what we got. Overall maybe this is a lunch and dinner place because I was not impressed by flavor or breakfast. I do appreciate the great service which was quick and everyone was super friendly.

Chorizo egg scramble with rice and beans

We are locals and will sometimes visit Zorro's for their comfort food and pretty side patio. On this visit we sat inside. Our greeting was mediocre, but our server was great and bussing and drink refills were attentive and very friendly. We did get a big "thank you!" with a smile on our way out. Food is solid comfort if not winning awards for presentation. I ordered the tri-tip sandwich, and with a choice of side I chose fresh fruit. When it came out with fries (which were perfectly cooked steakhouse fries), the server asked if I wanted to keep the fries while she brought the fruit. We enjoyed this happy accidental side-swap. Tri-tip on the grilled sourdough bread with cheese (kind of like a Tritip melt) was heavy, a little oily, but good quality tri-tip. We also ordered the chorizo and eggs scramble which came with beans and rice. Very good. Generous portion. Our awesome busser refilled our soda before we left and offered to put it in a to-go cup. It's a cute indoor space, colorful, not too loud and not too crowded with tables. The surf channel was playing on a TV, which was fun to watch. I'm sure we'll continue with our twice-yearly visits. Dependable.

We ordered the mocajete. It had Chili's cheese, Carne asada , chicken linguiça salsa.. it came with tortillas black beans, rice pilaf. We split it plenty of food $30.

    Best Clam Chowder in SLO

*In search of the best Chowder in SLO, Zorro's Cafe & Cantina, 1st out of 6 restaurants sampled, El Honcho the king of SLO chowders!* We stopped by Zorro's Cafe for breakfast on our way out of San Luis Obispo. Approaching the restaurant, Zorro's attract lines, just like Splash Cafe in Pismo Beach. We waited about 20 minutes to get a table, but as we are ushered into our table, a lovely kid gave a white rose to my wife. It was mother's day, and Zorro's are presenting mothers who dined with them that day a rose. A good sign that we are going to have a great breakfast here at Zorro's. Inside, Zorro's small and quaint space has such character. We glanced at the menu but already mentioned that we'll have a cup of their clam chowder. I came to our table before our breakfast and tasted it. Wow, it is by far the best clam chowder we have tasted throughout our trip here in SLO. The savoriness and brininess of the chowder is Perfect. The creaminess is on point. The conglomeration of all the ingredients of Zorro's clam chowder is just perfect. It was so good than when my wife tasted it, she immediately asked our server that she will have a cup of her own as well. Anyways back to our breakfast, I asked our server what is here recommendation, and without hesitation, she recommended the Cuyama Chili Verde Omelet of which I obliged. The flavor of the chili verde sauce, the tenderness of the pork, all just so good. My wife's Chilaquiles was yummy as well. My son's burger patty was perfectly charred and tasted great. So if you are looking for breakfast in San Luis Obispo, Zorro's Cafe & Cantina is your spot. Its accolades are absolutely legit. And need I say about their clam chowder? The best.

First of all, the service was awesome. Liz was our waitress. She had a friendly attitude from the start and was helpful with her suggestions. And if you are reading this, happy birthday Liz! I ordered the chorizo and eggs breakfast, which came with side of Mexican rice and frijoles along with corn tortillas. My wife ordered the Greek omelet, but with jack cheese instead of feta. We both thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast. My chorizo had great flavor, not too spicy, but with a nice kick. I absolutely loved it. We also sample the chowder (great!) and chile verde (really good!). Five stars! I highly recommend this place!

Crab and shrimp enchiladas. Real crab!
    Carelle V.

Food was great before and still great now! I always come back for that shrimp and crab enchilada! Portions are still huge. Honestly feels like 2 meals in one. Prices are still reasonable. Our server was very nice and attentive. Always had a smile on her face and was ready to answer any questions we may have. Refilled our coffees in time without us asking and looking for a server. The ambiance is still the same. Cute and cozy beach town spot. Parking was not too hard during the hours we went. It was quite early so no issues there. We were easily sat down. Food came out hot and fresh. I would still highly recommend this spot and it is still as good as ever! Support local :)

Breakfast burrito with the sauce on the side

Amazing breakfast burritos! All of the ingredients were perfectly cooked and seasoned. The burrito was so large I couldn't finish it, but I wish I could have as it was amazing. We were lucky enough to sit in the covered patio to enjoy the mild weather of the day. The food comes out fast and the staff answered all of our questions with such care. My parents got the French toast and the birria omelette - both were delicious! Highly recommend this spot for breakfast if you're in the Shell Beach area!

For drinks we had two mocktails that were just okay. We also got a couple of flour tortillas with some cinnamon butter and a salsa trio. Our server suggested we spread butter inside the tortilla and drizzle our favorite salsa inside. So good. After dinner we decided to walk around the restaurant and appreciate the views. They are a pet enthusiasts that always spoil our dogs and they have a selection of 4 different dog dishes to pick from. Our two 15 pound dogs split a single salmon dish and there was enough food for both of them. We found the sea bass and the clam chowder to be two of our favorite dishes. The sea bass comes with a mix of mushrooms and white beans along with a red wine sauce. The combination of textures between the flaky fish, soft beans, and chewy mushrooms makes for a great mouthful and the acidic and flavorful sauce brings all the ingredients together. The clam chowder was an interesting twist on the classic with the dill adding a nice extra flavor to the chowder and the herb oil applied to the top added a nice light note to The brunch special with champagne seems like a great way to spend a morning. Most of the tables around us got the set meal and we saw a constant supply of new bottles of champagne and assorted fruit juices going to the other tables. They suggested Lido, so we decided to arrive early and have a cocktail and appetizer during their happy hour before settling in for dinner. The visit started off strong with the lobby staff engaging in a little fun banter as well as the hostess who seated us was engaging and friendly. Unfortunately anything positive stopped there because our server was anything but pleasant and welcoming. We opted to sit outside on the patio as the weather was mild and the view stunning. We did request an umbrella as the sun was strong and another employee brought one over. The server seemed to lack any personality, no smile, no response to playful joking or interactions. I asked a question about the menu because the happy hour menu I had and had selected a drink off, differed from the other three that my husband and our friends had. The waiter flatly stated that my menu was wrong and the drink I wanted to order was not available and suggested a different drink that was nothing like the one I wanted to order. There was no apology and he didn't even take the incorrect menu, it was as if he didn't care. We placed an order for two appetizers and four drinks, three of which were the same cocktail off the happy hour menu. At the same time, we inquired about a more extensive dinner menu and the waiter stated they didn't serv dinner until 5pm but it was already 4:45pm and so we requested dinner menus. The waiter asked us how many menus we wanted, which seemed strange as none of us have ever eaten at a restaurant where each individual person wasn't provided their own menu and so we had to state we wanted four menus. When the four menus arrived, one for each person, one of the three was incorrect just like the happy hour one, showing cocktails that were no longer available. The drinks and appetizers eventually came, they took at least 15 minutes with the food arriving before any of the drinks. While the food was okay, the three cocktails were pretty awful, mine being the worst of the three. They were all the same drink made with grapefruit but my personal drink was far more bitter than the other two, it wasn't palatable at all. The other two who ordered the same drink, my husband and friend drank the drinks since we were paying for them. At this point, the experience was so bad between the waiter who seemed to have no desire to serve people and the terrible cocktails that we decided we should cut our loses and leave to eat dinner elsewhere. We left one full cocktail, and two partial cocktails on the table. The bill was paid and as my husband and I brought up the rear of our group. As we were leaving the waiter remarked that he, "hoped we have a better day." This was rude, unprofessional and confirmed leaving Lido was the right choice. This was a terrible experience both with the waiter and cocktails. A place could have the most amazing food but if the customer service is lacking, the quality of food is irrelevant. I would rather have mediocre food and friendly, welcoming and engaging customer service.

I don't know why I thought the sandwich same by itself. My mistake. The chicken sandwich was very good. A bit spicy but not to the point I couldn't finish it. It also had this nice sweet taste that contrasted well with the spice. I knew my wife would like it so I let her have a bite. I was also curious about my sons birria fries so I stole a bite of those. I recommend if you come in a group, be sure to share some. It would also be nice if you could upgrade the fries that come with your meal to birria fries, you know for an extra $2 or something. From what I can tell, everything is good here. If I could, next time I'm getting birria tacos with a side of birria fries! Probably the only gripe I could find was that service was on the slow side. 2 people were responsible for the whole restaurant, besides the cooking in the back. One mostly manned the bar and the other roamed the tables while helping behind the bar too. It wasn't that busy and the place isn't that big. My man wasn't lazy and was always doing something. But it did come with lettuce, not cabbage (?). Hmm. The fish was okay, but not fried to enough of a crisp, so it was not crunchy. It was also a relatively small amount of cod in the the burrito wrap. I say burrito wrap as the tortilla was pretty thick and barely toasted. I did see other patrons sitting at the tables with much toastier-looking wraps, and it looked like the steak wrap came in a wheat tortilla. So is there more than one kind of tortilla? The tartar sauce was middle of the road and there was not enough of it in the wrap for my tastes - I like sauce. But I could not get more for the side, as the line was out the door by the time I discovered I could use more tartar sauce! So while it was fine, and the fish seemed fresh, I was somewhat disappointed, and did not munch this wrap with the zeal that I do the one from the other locale in town where I typically buy the killer cod wrap. The curly fries were good and well salted. Lots of people sitting outside; tables could've been cleaned better. Maybe staff should come out and wipe them down periodically.

Hoagies - This is the Pismo wrap with curly fries. I'm not easily impressed, but this wrap did not disappoint.

Even during the off-season, they can get busy for dinners so make a reservation, especially if you have a larger group. The patio is dog friendly and they have a private parking lot. We started the meal with a half dozen fresh oysters which were cleaned well and served with some Tabasco, an herby vinegar, and lemons. Fresh warm bread and butter were also provided to start the meal. We got the steamed clams which were absolutely delicious. Done with a classic garlicky white sauce, the clams were fresh with no unpleasant fishy smells or tastes. The seafood pasta is the reason we return to Ada's year after year. There's a huge assortment of seafood included and all of the individual ingredients are well cooked unlike most seafood pastas. The mussels were small and very mild in flavor, almost tasting like clams. A flaky white fish as well as a more meaty fish were also included and weren't overcooked. The creamy rose sauce is flavorful and rich without overwhelming the various ingredients Service is friendly and they have a wide selection of drinks available.
