V surprised me with a stop at Shree Indian Cuisine for an early dinner. It was 4 pm or so on a Wednesday, so there was only one other table seated upon our arrival. The host seated us right away and dropped off water and menus. I appreciated the Indian music quietly playing, allowing us to enjoy the restaurant and still talk easily. V ordered a mango drink with vodka, it tasted good. He also ordered their homemade fried cheese and vegetable samosas to start. The cheese was ok; the Samosa was quite good. My entree was the Lamb Biryani with Basamati rice and Indian spices. It had a nice touch of heat, and solid flavor. The serving size was large enough that I had enough to take home for another meal. V ordered the Tandoori Lamb Chop which came with white rice. He seemed to genuinely enjoy his meal, and also had food to take home. The server was prompt, and responsive. Had the buffet at this Indian restaurant in Crest Hill. It was a pretty basic selection except for the food being great at least. Shree is hidden in a strip mall that's hard to make a turn into from the busy street. Got a pretty big menu. The bad thing is it's too expensive for quality and quantity. Found out they have a buffet. It's on weekdays at lunch. The selection was pretty paltry but we thought it would be all for a great price. About half of it was meaty. The other half had things for vegetarians. It's about $20 for the buffet. We were shocked by the price. It was certainly not worth it. They were taking forever refilling water. A spicy plate of food has to have it available. They were also late getting us bread until we had finished a few plates. Great thing is it's the best Indian restaurant in town to be honest. Hooked up with yelper Tim T. for our inaugural visit. I was surprised we were the only one there at noon on a Friday. They do a wonderful job with their Indian cuisine creations. I really enjoyed the lamb boti kebob. Very generous serving size. Tim enjoyed his half chicken and we shared some garlic naan. I found the price was reasonable for the quality and quantity. They do charge a credit card fee, like so many other places now. I still find cash is king. The cozy dining room was well kept and our waitress and the owner was very friendly. An amazing, make from scratch, Indian restaurant with longer than expected wait time. Read the reviews; everyone who dines here raves about the food. Everything my family and I have ordered is flavorful, filling, and have leftovers. The staff is polite, kind, and helpful. If you want an authentic, you've stumbled upon the right venue. I understand Yelper Christopher O's comment about the high prices (especially the naan; I'd argue should be complementary). Sounds like lunch orders do include some accoutrement; maybe I'll try 'em next time. I identify with Yelper Jeremy S's passion for spice and heat! Similar to a Thai restaurant, you can customize the heat level of many dishes, although I'd argue a standard order is pretty soft on heat. The only side I am mixed about is the paratha. I've been raised on the frozen, supermarket style you toast in a pan and serve. Do not expect the flaky, buttery flatbread with a bit of a toasted crunch. *I DO recognize this is not traditional (I did say 'supermarket' after all), so take my opinion lightly. I WANT to give Shree 5 stars and would on the food alone. After three visits--and myriad excuses why our food was so slow each time--the belated turn around from order to eating is *not* a fluke. Our worst experience was Valentines Day 2025--clocked in at :75 from order to the first dish (an appetizer). I know good food takes time...but my wife suggested next time we order ahead or get takeout. Then again, I've seen patrons at peak meal times sit at the bar for :15+ past takeout delivery time. read more

Walked in to order to go from Shree Indian Cuisine. Wanted to try this joint based off the reviews here. Got chicken tiki masala. So good. I was going to order the spinach chat. Haven't had it so I wasn't sure entirely sure what it was. Was told it doesn't travel well and will be soggy when I get home. Really appreciate that tip. Most places wouldn't care. Got garlic naan instead. They just got their liquor license so I was the first person to have a drink there while I waited for my food Cute space. Very small and parking is terrible. The mango pineapple shrimp dish here is incredible--a must-try! It's super tasty and brings that perfect summer vibe, no matter the season. The Fish Jalfrezi and goat vindaloo are also fantastic. You can customize the spice level for your dish; I went with extra spicy on the fish, and it was the kind of heat that knocks your socks off but is still manageable. We started with the coconut soup. While delicious, this is not worth $9. This is a $3 item; it may have been 10 oz of soup. Garlic Naan was $3.69 for two small pieces. Ridiculous. A whole loaf of bread is cheaper. Mango lassi was $6. For a 12 oz. drink. Insanity. The Tandoori mix grill was very good and served on a simmering iron skillet. It is not a $25 dish. It was seasoned well and the lamb portion was tender. Tandoori chicken tikka also very good. Not for $19 though. Overall, the flavors were great and the owner assured us that everything is freshly made, which I believe. After tax and tip this was a $100 lunch for two people. I doubt this will survive in Crest Hill. I wish them luck, but I can find equivalent Indian food for about 25% less. I'm sure the reply will be "then go somewhere else." Ok, I will. I ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala and it far exceeded my expectations.
