I took my documents to be shredded in plastic garbage bags since I didn't have bankers boxes. They unloaded them from my car and weighed them and the cost was much less than I expected. They were super nice. The hardest part was finding them but now that I know where they are in that industrial park, I can see a lot more cleaning out of old files in my future. read more

This review is overdue. I run a small business and unfortunately produce more paper than I prefer (zero, please). I own a cross-cut shredder, but I could never keep up with the volume of paper that is created/expires. A couple years ago, based on Yelp reviews, I found Shred-Docs. Several times a year, when I've accumulated 1-2 boxes worth, I swing by to see the awesome dogs and the friendly humans they work with. For $5 per box, you won't find a better value. While I trust companies like Iron Mountain that big box retail places have bins from, and charge a fortune to collect the same amount of paper, the first time I saw a Staples employee UNLOCK THE BIN FULL OF UNSHREDDED PAPER was the last time I EVER used a retailer to "shred" anything. Stop throwing away bank statements, tax returns, explanations of benefits from your health insurance, or anything with your name and address on it - fill a box and bring it to Shred-Docs and sleep better at night. read more

I had years of important house hold documents that just kept accumulating. I didn't want to do a fire pit because it's warm and wildfire season. I went to Staples and they wanted $1.00 per lb. I found shred-doc's and what a time saver. I ended up with a few 10x12x15 boxes of old bills, checking statements and no longer needed important documents. Their normal charge is $5 a box and each box weighs way more than 5lbs. My garage has space. Now I'll just throw everything in a bankers box and shred documents as each box fills up. Locked down by CA gov meant a good time to clean out old papers. Ended up with half dozen boxes of assorted legal, bank, health papers that needed to be shred, without an appointment. Solution? Shred-Docs! Unfortunately I did not note the name of the friendly and efficient gentleman that explained their shred procedures, helped us unload the dox, estimated the number of "boxes" (some documents were in old dog food bags), accepted the payment and wrote up a receipt. I do remember, however, he had a Dobby the House Elf (from Harry Potter series) on his desk ;) This entire transaction was quick, easy, best of all inexpensive, and we did not even break a sweat.
