Had no idea how much these places are needed. We've been unknowingly amassing decades of old bills and "important" letters from our mailbox. Slowly but surely it crept up on us and we finally were able to unload it all today. Kyle was great and took care of us to witness all our old mail get destroyed. We used their "Witnessed Shredding" service. Price was excellent and the service was actually very interesting to watch! Big industrial service handling us little folks really well. Will definitely come back to them. Officially first in mind when we think of this kind of thing. read more

I had 4 hard drives shredded. Fast quick simple and good value. If you need this service, this is the place.

I had over 500 boxes (700 cubic feet) of old business records stored at Iron Mountain going back over 20 years. It was time to destroy it all but IM wanted over $15 per cf for them to do that. I saved thousands of dollars having Total pick them up and shred at a MUCH lower negotiated price. Great service and wonderful people. Highly recommend! read more

I brought in 2 medium boxes full of documents that I needed shredded and chose the option of witnessing the shredding. The service was very fast and no-nonsense. They also have a military discount. Highly recommended! read more

The company name is confusing because the website defaults to VitalShred, a part of vitalrecordscontrol.com. The VitalShred page gives no clue about the services actually available at the Kearny Mesa location (I called to make sure, as I didn't want to make the drive for nothing). If you don't find this YELP page, I don't know how you will find the service. Once there, I was waited on promptly and courteously. The young man explained the pricing. I chose to witness the shredding ($2/box extra). The service was very fast and efficient. I paid for the service (card only, no cash) and was on my way in 10 minutes. read more

Been there twice now and it so quick and easy. In and out, no issues! Very much recommend.

I've been coming here every year for about 10 years to shred my personal and business documents. They're always trustworthy, and I never worry about dropping off my papers. Prices are very reasonable too. Highly recommend! read more

Fast and easy drop off. Friendly staff. You have an option to watch them shred it or just drop it off pay and off you go.

Total Secure Shredding is easy & convenient to bring private documents to have properly destroyed. Highly recommend.

Friendly, affordable, quick. Will definitely use this company again if needed! Paid two dollars extra for witnessed shredding which reassured me it was done! Convenient location too. read more

Super simple and glad we drove up the Kearny Mesa to shred our old legal docs en masse. Point off because we paid an extra buck or two to "witness" the destruction of our docs just to be on the safe side, but all that entailed was the guy stepping aside and letting us watch the stuff getting chewed up by the shredder via a monitor. Nothing extra other than that, which I thought was chintzy. My two cents - don't advertise the difference - just say "complimentary witnessing" (and charge the higher price...) That said - would definitely use again. read more

Dropping off a bankers-box of documents to be shredded for about $10 is super easy. It is easier and less expensive to visit Total Secure Shredding -- shredding is all they do -- than to get in line at retail stores who "provide document shredding as an additional service." read more

I always use this company for shredding documents. I know Staples and UPS will do shredding but I feel safer knowing my documents are shredded immediately with a minimum of handling. Also they are really nice and help unload the boxes from my car. Price is fair no matter if it's a large or small quantity. read more

Total Secure Shredding made the process of disposing of my old documents simple and stress-free. The drop-off was quick, the staff was professional, and I had peace of mind knowing everything was securely destroyed. Their prices are very reasonable, and I'd definitely use them again. Highly recommend for anyone needing a safe, easy, and affordable shredding service! read more

Came in for the first time today with several loose bags of old statements and receipts. Within 10 minutes, we unloaded everything into the bin they provided and was quoted a very reasonable price. Very good service and would come back again. read more

This location might be hard to find but worth it with plenty of parking. I brought several large boxes of confidential paperwork in for shredding and I could not have been more pleased. I paid a reasonable price to watch it get shredded in front of me, well worth the money, if not, I would have to spend hours doing it myself. Been there and done it several times. I wish I learned sooner. Customer service is Ace's in my book. read more

Initially this place can be hard to find but once you do, you'll be a returning customer. I'm already on my 5th year. My business of two employees benefits from the shredding just as much as a business of 100 employees. I also include my own personal documents. You can watch and shred for an extra dollar or leave the docs in a secured container for shredding later. What does an average box mean? If you ordered a standard keurig and took out the packaging, that would be a small box. I think the price is 6-7 bucks. I consider this fair value given the current inflated times. However, once a month the city offers free shredding. Look at their website. Excellent work. I have used multiple times for documents and hard drives. Appreciate that you can witness shredding.

This business deserves the 5 stars! This was the most simple, convenient and pleasant services I've had. Not only was it quick but they even came out to my car to unload the boxes with me. I prepared myself for a long lengthy and slightly frustrating time but it was the complete opposite, I was out in no more than 10 min. I will share and visit again. Thank you for making this task so easy. read more

Super nice staff. Reasonable prices. Been going here for years for shredding needs. I highly recommend this business.

they are great! We did drop off and they quickly emptied our personal documents into a secure bin. Price is great and the service was great, professional and very kind. highly recommend! read more

Great customer service, easy process and no wait. We will definitely be returning customers. Thank you!

I went into Total Secure Shredding this morning and Kyle was extremely helpful, very efficient, and super nice. He processed 4 items for my husband and I, and 3 items for my parents. The whole process was very simple: (1) Kyle opened up our devices to pull out the hard drives while I watched (towers, a laptop and a couple of All-In-One computers), (2) then he shredded all of the hard drives while I watched, (3) then he showed me all of the shredded items in the metal bins. He was able to recycle all of the items except the monitor, cables, mice, and keyboards so Kyle gave me the phone number for Secure E-Waste and (for FREE) I was able to hand those items over to them for recycling. They were really nice too! It feels great getting this done today and I felt VERY happy that I was able to see it done in person. It was a wonderful experience -- they have a new customer for life. Thanks, Kyle! P.S. The cost was VERY reasonable: $14.95 (per item) to watch him pull out the item, and watch them shred it, plus recycle the items. It was all done in one place -- securely! read more

I just brought my bankers box to the site and then witnessed the shredding as a walk in customer. Plenty of parking. Very fast and only $9 something. Saved me time and my home shredder. Loved it. read more

Great service at a very good price! The owner gave us time after taking care of a 'needy' customer - with great courtesy!

This place is so awesome! I bring all my papers and throw them in to a bin and do "witnessed " shredding where you make sure all you docs are shredded. It literally takes mins then you pay a very, very reasonable amount. Highly rec. read more

Getting back to normal #36 If you have a stack of paper that you need to shred, but have zero time to do it, I recommend this place. The young man who helped me was courteous and informative. Very few businesses rate a five-star rating from every person they meet. This business tops them all. Not only are the staff attentive and compassionate, the service they provide is very valuable and yet they charge very little. I have complete and total trust in these people to take care of my documents in the proper manner and I would highly recommend them for any business needing that extra sense of security. read more

They have a variety of shred options (go to them or they come to you). Prices vary based on if you want to witness the shredding or not. I believe this company was bought by Pro Shred which is why their truck and invoice states Pro Shred. I didn't think the receptionist was as amazing as their website (what a weird statement). But using their website was easy and an efficient way to price out their shredding options. Plus, it gave us a discount on the job. The shred truck is noisy - much like garbage trucks that come by every week. They price the shred based on how many boxes you have or the garbage bin they fill (see pic). The garbage bin equals about 10 boxes worth of papers/files/etc. Bob, the driver/shredder, was great. He was professional and helpful. We thought we would have to load the garage bin ourselves but no - he did it all. The bin is rolled out to the truck, auto lifted to an enclosed shredder, and you can see it being shredded on the monitor. I would gladly use them again or refer them to others. read more

I had two computers (desktop and laptop) that someone had damaged and they were both inoperable. Needless to say, I wasn't too keen on the idea of having my personal information available in someone else's hands. I read the reviews on this place and then went to their website and was sold. Interesting fact I learned from their site is that one of the hard drives from the space shuttle Columbia had fallen thousands of feet after the explosion and a large amount of info was still recovered off that drive! That sold me on needing to physically destroy my hard drives. I brought my laptop and desktop in whole, and the process was very easy. I handed them to the gentleman there, and told him I wanted the hard drives destroyed and the rest discarded. He told me he could recycle the rest, which I agreed to. I had forgotten this was an option but always glad to recycle whenever possible. I watched him take the hard drives out and then he got my attention before dropping them in the industrial electronic shredder, then showed me the resulting pieces in a bin right after. Mission accomplished! The price was super fair and I was even able to use a Yelp check in offer for a discount. This place provides a service which is crucial in this day and age. The employee (or owner?) Was friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient. 100 percent satisfied and would highly recommend to my sisters and brethren on Yelp! read more

Vital Shred - Walk in through door on left. Great place! - Shredding Services Near Me - San Diego, California

It was a truly liberating experience to get rid of YEARS worth of stuff ... 5 boxes, $30, maybe 15 minutes...DONE! I would probably take off a half star because I asked for (and paid for) witnessed shredding. I was a little surprised when the guy took the cart full of boxes down the driveway and around the back, out of my sight. I brought this up with the owner while I was there, and he agreed that this wasn't ideal. Suggest that a ramp be put in the front - both to avoid walking into that tiny front step and make it easy for employees to roll the cart in the front door, to keep stuff in sight. Bottom line, very good experience, would go back here in a heartbeat! read more

Hard to believe I've been coming here on and off through nearly 12 years now. Small business owned, locations have changed, but to keep me coming in for shredding documents they are doing something right. Very simple and to the point process in doing this job and I am always in and out of here in 5 minutes or less. read more

I've been here a couple of times now. Usually fast friendly service. This last time I went, the lady took my box and sorted through everything. I found that to be odd and an invasion of my privacy of the things I needed to get shredded. I chose to watch like I always do. They usually just take your stuff and start feeding it through the shredder. When I was there there were a few other people and none of them had their things sorted through first. One lady even asked why they were sorting my things and if that was new. As I said a bit odd, and I felt singled out. I also had photographs and they charged me $20 (half a box) this is not listed in the business or on the pricing list. So just ask and be aware. Like I said I felt singled out from all the other people who wanted their items shredded as well. read more

They did the job nicely and neat. We brought all the papers to shred, load into their blue bin. Then we watch the paper shredded in the truck. It is very convenient and fast. Have donated the small shredder at home. Will definitely come back (maybe in a couple year because of increasing paperless activities.) read more

Great service! Professional staff. These guys are the best! First come, first served. Go there!

This was my 2nd visit to this business for great pricing and service. I brought in three large plastic bags (half filled). The employee came out to my Jeep, quickly emptied the bags into their bin. We went inside, and I received a respectable fee/charge. All told, spent five minutes on site. Time to clean out more files. read more

I used this location twice in the past few months in preparation for an out-of-state move. I had a large quantity of papers for shredding on both occasions, and opted for witnessed shredding service. The first time I wanted to keep the boxes to reuse/refill them. The second time I didn't need to keep the boxes, and they offered to dispose of them/recycle them. On both occasions, they were very fast and efficient, and I feel the price was quite reasonable. I would certainly recommend their services whenever you need shredding. read more
