These scones are not muffins in disguise, which means the texture is a bit drier and more crumbly--perfect alongside a hot beverage. For my drink, I ordered a London Fog Tea Latte. I was hoping to have it served in an actual ceramic mug, but those are only offered to customers who order drip coffee. That said, they made a very good London Fog, with a little extra lavender and plenty of foam. For my taste, it could have been a bit hotter. Service: Everyone who helped us was kind and helpful and gave us plenty of time to choose the perfect pastries. When ordering the London Fog, they explained how they make theirs and how they would add the extra lavender, which I appreciated. As mentioned above, they do not provide mugs for specialty drinks, using mugs instead to keep track of customers who have paid for bottomless drip coffee. I could bring my own mug from home, but I am not a fan of carrying around coffee shop essentials. Atmosphere: The building is nicely designed on the outside and sits on a corner with plenty of large windows that bring in natural light. It faces north, so you avoid the glaring morning sun. Upon entering, there is a short walk to the counter, where you can view all of the bakery and pastry items. A menu board above clearly displays the breakfast and lunch offerings, making it easy for first time visitors. There are numerous tables that accommodate small groups, and a fireplace with a couple of upholstered chairs offers a cozy seating option. Even after filling up with customers, the noise level was very good, and easy to have casual conversations. A nice visit and a place I would enjoy coming back to.

This particular location has plenty of space for different size groups. You can choose between the downstairs area, an upstairs space, or a nicely appointed outdoor patio. The staff are consistently friendly and helpful. The baristas are usually high quality, but occasionally you will get someone who is either in training or using their own techniques. Today was a good example of that challenge. My usual London Fog Tea Latte was a surprise. You can check out the pictures. Whoever made it steeped the tea in the cup and then poured the steamed milk over the top, instead of removing the steeper and then adding the milk. No worries. I went back and they were happy to fix it. The reworked one was a bit cooler than I like, but the texture was much better. The bakery here is good too. There is a nice selection, though it does not taste as fresh as if it were made on site. I always ask to have bakery items warmed up, which I think improves the taste.

Eventually I went to go sit back down because I assumed they were busy. 15 minutes later Colin came over to our table, left a menu and muttered something. Soon after that, he came back again in the middle of our meeting and muttered something again. He repeated in a very agitated tone, "You guys can hang out but you have to order something". Two of us told him we tried to order earlier, to which he replied something along the lines of "well we're wide open now". I had genuinely never seen or heard a barista act this way. I thought he's just having a bad day from the way he's walking around the shop, so I told him I'd go right up to order. Later, Colin generously brought over my toast and I said "thank you so much" and "thank you" as he tossed my napkins on the table. He did all of this in silence. Coffee is now ubiquitous with daily life in America, which brings me to Qamaria Coffee. Hatem and Munif are two Yemeni entrepreneurs with a passion for Yemeni Coffee and the joint goal of wanting to share it with the world. They founded Qamaria Coffee in 2019 to accomplish this task and in January 2024, they opened a location near Milwaukee in Greenfield, WI. Qamaria offers a variety of dessert options, including a Chocolate Tres Leches, Pistachio Tres Leches, and Caramel Tres Leches cakes. I went with the caramel version, which is described by the cafe as "A decadent caramel treat inspired by tres leches cake, creamy, sweet, and irresistibly smooth". If you've never had Tres Leches Cake, it's a light sponge cake soaked in three types of milk (evaporated, condensed, and whole) that's popular in Latin America. The cake originated in Nicaragua during the 19th century, so on first glance it's not exactly a Yemeni dessert. Doing some research, Middle Eastern variations exist that feature cardamom or rose water and some Qamaria locations do have a Rose Tres Leches. It's fine that the Greenfield location did not have that variety as I honestly would have got the caramel version anyway. My slice was perfectly moist as there was plenty of milk soaked in, but not so much that it made a mess or compromised the structure of the cake. The bottom layer was soft and Tiramisu-like in texture, while the cream on top was rich and thick. Personally, I found the caramel flavor to be mild, but delicious.
