Atmosphere is friendly. This is a locals place that has a lot of southern charm. Devin was our server. She was very friendly and gave us great service. This spot is awesome! The sandwiches are definitely one of a kind. I have never tried the pizza but I'm looking to try one soon. The service is always on point, it's such a nice spot for lunch. I am not sure about all the rave reviews. The longer we sat there the more I realized how dirty the place was. Floor, walls, ceiling, everything. I did not use the restroom so can't speak to it. Couldn't locate their restaurant score anywhere. After we ordered, the food came entirely too quickly. That is usually a bad sign. After we started eating, our waitress informed us the order given to us wasn't ours. No big deal, just felt bad that we got someone else's order. They brought my husband's correct pizza and I continued eating the entree as it was the same thing I ordered. Food was ok but I don't understand anyone saying it is the best pizza joint in town. Have only ordered takeout so can't speak to the dine-in experience, but we love Shorty's for a casual weekend meal. Suggest calling in your order ahead (and maybe even waiting a little longer than their quoted time to pick it up). I'm usually one to place an order and wait for it while having a drink at the bar, but their bar is typically packed. Their pizzas are pretty off the wall, which can be a little intimidating for us pizza traditionalists. The build your owns are good but if you can get over the seemingly weird flavor combos, I do think their specialty pizzas are the way to go. The Wu Tang Clan is probably my favorite, but I've also had the Biggie Smalls and the Dianna Ross & the Supremes. read more

Living in Tucker for almost 3 years and I'm just trying Shorty's! Geesh! I may have to make this a regular spot. My best friend & I came here on a Tuesday evening for dinner. Upon walking inside we saw a board stating 'ALL SANDWICHES ARE HALF OFF'. That alone made my eyes dart to the sandwich section of the menu one we were seated. We opted to sit in the corner section in the far right corner. From this angle, we're able to see the stage where the live band plays, the bar and anyone who enters. The menu is pretty darn cool. There are tons of pizzas named after celebrities. I didn't get one of these but I decided to build my own pizza. I got my pizza with extra cheese, chicken, spinach and bacon. I got a small size, thick crust pizza. I couldn't only eat 2 and a half slices. I brought the rest home for my boyfriend, who demolished it for his dinner. The pizza was tasty, nothing spectacular to me but I'd definitely eat here again. Next time, opting for a large and a specialty pizza. For the pizza I ordered and all the toppings, the cost was $15. I wanted to get a drink but decided to just drink my water. Next time, I will try this drink they have on their menu with Crown Royal Apple, apple juice, nutmeg and something else they add. My best friend had a beer that I absolutely loved! It wasn't on the menu but it wasn't too sweet nor was it too harsh of a beer. It was just right. The service was A-OK. Didn't get the waitresses name. She forgot my ranch that I ordered with my pizza, but hey it happens! I'll be back soon. If you're ever in the Tucker area, give Shorty's a try. I admit: if I lived in the area, I'd probably drive by Shorty's every day and never give a second thought to avoiding the place like the plague. From the outside, it's a shack with huge, lit-up letters spelling out SHORTY'S on the outside. If it weren't for a coworker's urging, I would never have stepped foot into this place. We spent the weekend at Stone Mountain for a conference, so we decided it was the right time to try Shorty's. Inside, this place is a mix of dive bar and family restaurant (if this is even something you can picture). There's a hostess stand but not really, there's a bar but not one that is central to the space...in a weird way, this restaurant is a place where almost everyone can feel comfortable. We sat at the bar and ordered three pizzas between the two of us. I know. Gluttons. But I've been meaning to try this place for over 2 years and the specialty pizza menu is far too extensive to just pick one!! My favorite was a pizza that was served with pesto and pineapple. It's that kind of creativity and frankly weird-ness that you just aren't going to get anywhere else. It was PHENOMENAL. Our other pizzas were good, but just not quite as mind-blowingly great. Our second-favorite was the Carlos Santana. Our bartender/server Shannon was attentive, friendly, and treated us like we were coming to eat in her home. She provides the kind of service that makes you slide her a piece of paper asking if she'll be your best friend at the end of the meal. Honestly that really goes for the entire staff at Shorty's, but Shannon seems to be the glue that holds everyone together...something we could tell just from our short visit on a Friday night. My last meal with my friends in Tucker before leaving Atlanta on my epic September 2015 mega trip, we decided on having something simple and fresh, so it was Shorty's. It was nearby where I was staying, so nothing says fun and delicious was a large pizza, booze, and fun. We opted to be here around 7:30pm on a crisp Wednesday evening. We spent about an hour or so here, since I needed an early start the next morning, as an 8am flight out of ATL can be crazy if you are stuck on the I-285 or elsewhere during morning rush hour. I was told that Shorty's was a pretty good place for pizza and they weren't lying. The pizza was good, depending on what you were having. My friends and I haggled on the details on what constituted a good pizza, but in the end, I ended up getting a veggie pizza, whereas my friend's husband got a weird mix of garlic and something. I wanted portobello, basil, and eggplant. It was wicked good combination! It's always great when portobello is on the menu for pizza, but that's probably just me. My friend and I loved the veggie pizza so much that I got treated for the meal. I just needed to pay the gratuity. This visit to Shorty's was pretty short and sweet. No fuss or muss. Shorty's is located at 3701 Lawrenceville Highway in Tucker, GA. They accept major credit cards and the parking is always fun to get. Sometimes it can be a hassle to get parking, but it wasn't when we rolled through here on a nonchalant Wednesday evening. The building where Shorty's was a cute rustic building that is apart of a small commercial cul de sac. The prices here were pretty decent for pizza and all its accessories. My friend got a salad and we shared the veggie pizza, whereas my friend's husband had his own create your favorite pizza, which he got all to himself. For the most part, a visit to Shorty's was a good choice. Not too much hassle and you get what you pay for. Pizza with the right kind of love and ingredients can make your night a great one. The restaurant was clean and organized. We actually got seated right away, so we didn't have to wait. Pretty awesome, actually. The service was decently good and fast. I think I ordered a glass of Pabst Blue Ribbon too, which was pretty tasty and complimented the meal. Maybe I should have gotten red wine, but all in all, it was a nice final meal with friends before leaving the east coast on my epic September 2015 trip. Ate there Tuesday night - it was trivia night so the tables and bar were about half full. The trivia host played some classic vinyl LPs, about a third was music unknown to me so that was a bonus! I only knew the answers to about half of the questions so that was cool too... This time I tried one of their specialty pies - the Diana Ross ($11.49 for a "small" which was still 10 inches), with pepperoni, ground beef, black olives, mushrooms, sliced tomatoes and broccoli in red sauce. The flavor combination was wonderful and the texture divine (meaty, savory, crunchy). Matched that to a 420 and had a bit of my dining partner's Cobb salad (one of my favorites) and left with a huge smile. My only complaint was that the crust was a bit soggy (something to be expected on such a heavily loaded pie, especially with all the veggies) - I know that some of the other pizza joints I frequent know how to fix that (hotter oven, slightly thicker bottom? not sure) or I would have given up 5 stars for sure. The service was also exceptional - the guy waiting on us was practically running between several large tables. We sat right in front of the stage (occupied by the trivia guy) and it wasn't overly noisy. All-in-all a great dining experience. read more

OMG. The only place I know where you can actually have broccoli on your pizza. This place had amazing fresh vegetables that were gorgeous and delicious at the same time. The pizza crust is a snack all on it's own. Because of all the toppings I feel as though it could've been more warm upon arrival in a lot of the toppings fell right off but that could just be because of the thin crust. The customer service here it is absolutely amazing and is the epitome me of what great service is all about . I have to bring my children here I can honestly say this is a great family friendly environment. The patio was nicely small and clean area to sit and enjoy a good meal. I had an Arnold Palmer to drink that was perfectly blended well. This restaurant is relatively very close to my home and I do see in the near future another visit. read more

Hadn't been in a while, as my husband no longer works nearby. But we were having dinner with a friend who lives in Tucker and wanted something casual. The service was friendly and efficient, but the pizza was just okay. The prices have gone up significantly since our last visit, and the toppings were fairly scant compared to prior experiences. Two of us ordered salads with arugula, and about 10 minutes after ordering, we were told they were out of arugula, and would substitute with field greens. Many of their salads and a couple of pizzas feature arugula. How do you run out of it on a Saturday night?! Probably won't be back, as the value just isn't there anymore. Which is a disappointment, because I really like their eclectic toppings/ pizza combos. Pity. read more

Food Good, Service good, Ownership, or manager the worst. I have been coming to this Shorty's at least 8 years and the food has always been good. I have always enjoyed the roasted Beet Salad with Walnuts and goat cheese with a light lemon vinaigrette. However this time the beets did not have that familiar roasted vegetable taste, YOU know the kind. So I asked my daughter to try my salad, she too noticed the difference, suggesting the beets were canned, not that savory smokey flavor the wood oven usually gives them. So when the server asked, "how is everything?" I said the beets did not taste wood roasted. She went and brought the chef/manager, I do not know who to the table and he said, "I don't have time for this, what is your Problem!" OH NO HE DIDN"T! And then explained he cooked them that morning on a bed of salt, but did not say where. My Husband has never been so angry in his whole life. The pizza's were spot on there were four of us and we ordered THREE. For the first time since the pandemic they were not burned on the bottom as usual. Which, by the way, we have never said anything about because we know the wood burning oven can be a little tricky. Not sure if that was our last visit. In my opinion the Pizza lacked Flavor and when we received our pizza it was missing ingredients, which they offered to bring me after the pizza was cooked. We like the Bowie, the Johnny Lee Hooker, and the Wu Tang Clan My personal favorite is the Dwight Yoakum, which is no longer on the menu but you could order it as a make your own - eggs, bacon, and tomatoes - does it get any better than that? Even their Greek salad is great! We are only disappointed that the closed their Toco Hills location, since it was convenient for picking up on the commute home. read more

I really have no idea how anyone could post a negative review considering I've been to Shorty's for nearly 9 years and I've never had even the slightest poor experience. Their food is very fresh, staff is so friendly. A few menu faves: mussels, cuban sandwich, PIZZA (they have thin crust delicious pizza), salads-- particularly the spaghetti squash salad, beet salad and rocket salad. They have nice heavy pours of wine and a good beer selection. We've gotten take-out many times, sat at the bar and outside. Love Shorty's and will be back many more times!! read more

I have been here a couple times now and I've always had carry out and have never dined in so this review is strictly for their carry out service. I never knew that Shorty's existed until my friend introduced me to it. She hadn't had their pizza either until we decided to order some for dinner one night. The first pizza that I had from them was their Biggie Smalls with soprasetta, roasted garlic, roasted onions, prosciutto and arugula. I timed the pick up of this pizza perfectly! The young man was just taking it out of the brick oven and he just needed to top it with the fresh arugula in order for me to take it home. I must say that this pizza is phenomenal to my taste buds! All of the ingredients compliment each other very well! I don't know why it's called Biggie (actually I don't know they name many of their pizzas the way they do), but I maybe it's the big explosion of taste in your mouth? The other pizza of theirs that I have also tried is the Snoop Dogg. Now this pizza has more simple ingredients than the Biggie - it includes salami, banana peppers, and feta chizzle (cheese). The taste of the ingredients together on this one is interesting. I don't know what I was expecting the banana peppers to taste like, but the tartness of them give the overall pizza an interesting flavor profile. I wonder what it would be like if the banana peppers were replaced with jalepenos instead? Hmmm, that would be interesting. All in all, there are over 20+ different varieties of pizza on Shorty's menu and I do plan to try them all in due time! :) read more

Before I tell you about this place I have to say I base every pizza place that I've come across in GA to NY since that is what I grew up with lol. That being said I have to say this place has the best pizza crust Ive tried in GA so far. THE CRUST ACTUALLY HAS FLAVOR YAYA. It is very tasty and has a nice crunch to it and does in fact remind me of NY pizza crust. I ordered the Jack White white pizza w/pesto, chicken, goat cheese YUM also asked for extra pesto on the side to dip the crust (the pesto is DELICIOUS). The only thing I wish is that there would have been a little more cheese. Other then that it was very good and Id definetly go back. I ordered take out and picked it up around 12pm it was starting to get a little busy nice atmosphere its more like a resturant then a pizzeria. Also so happy to safely visit a restaurant whose management and staff are taking the pandemic seriously-- they take temperatures at the door and have things spread safely a lot, masks required. We ordered the Van the Man Morrison and John Lee Hooker pizzas. I loved the Morrison because of the unique potato flavor and my friends liked the Hooker because of the spicy coleslaw. We sat outside because they have a great patio with large picnic tables that are good for large groups. We also ordered a pitcher of scotch ale. Amazing! We split it between five people so each person got a pint and a few people got a pint and a half out of it. read more

I hate to only give two stars but the description fits only it should say I've had much better. I'd love to give more since the place is sort of divey, the staff was friendly, and the concept is cool for offering unique pizzas. I was most excited to try a pizza cooked in a wood fired oven. But I'm wondering if higher stars are due to eating under the influence :-/ I guess we should have taken the hint when we were the only ones there during the lunch hour. We started getting the idea that maybe this was more of a 'lotta beer-little pizza' place when the beer soaked menus were placed in front of us We got the G love which we expected to be much like a philly pizza-cheesy and steak filled. However what we got was a large pizza, soggy centered, and limited on toppings. Literally 8 small strips of steak for a large pizza. (I posted a picture) My husband took the first piece off the tray and was grossed out by the undercooked steak that was leaking red. The sauteed onions and tomatoes were pretty sweet and the bell peppers didn't taste too fresh. The center of the pizza was so soggy and the flavor of the toppings so unsatisfactory I ended up just eating the very top of the pizza with the crust rim and piece of steak. The Carlos Santana was better-a Mexican style pizza with seasoned ground beef and pico de galla. It was a small so the center was near as soggy. I enjoyed the pico but the meat was maybe a little too overpowering. This was definitely the better of the two. We were pretty dissapointed considering our lunch which was not very good and cost $38 after tip. read more
