    Char - Burger 1/2 pound

Incredible Cheese burger 1/2 - Always have gone to have BBQ chicken, but decided to switch it up for lunch. This is a great value & tasty burger. I would say bigger than anyone else. Burger straight order from the menu.

Chicken Bacon Melt with fries on the side

Hey ya'll, got another delivery. Tried something small from this establishment before I went big. Got the Chicken Bacon Melt with fries and coleslaw. The fries definitely needed some seasoning help and the coleslaw did well with a little salt. The amount of fries matches the chicken sandwich perfectly. The chicken sandwich was good. I put a little at home sauce on it, I needed some swag like the fries. But nonetheless I was satisfied. I usually don't try new meals for dinner, expecting disappointment. But this was a great shocker. Ya'll should try for yourself.

As a native south Floridian, Shorty's barbecue has always been a pass time time. we aren't known for our barbecue so when you happen to have a place you embrace it. I opted for takeout today and while it's not the best barbecue, I have ever eaten it. It's definitely consistent If you know what to order. the ribs were cooked really good and the chicken tasted great. I'm actually all about the sides because they have great coleslaw, baked beans, corn, and the list goes on and on. Let's not forget about this sweet tea. I think that's what lured me in today. it's really great for family combo meals cause you could get a platter and feed everyone if you're ever in the davie area I think it's worth a shot

I have been visiting this Shorty's on and off for about 12 years. I used to go for lunch more often when I worked nearby. Lately, we just get take-out ribs by the pound. Love them. The service is always good, and they cook the ribs just the way we tell them we want them: well done with no char! Prices are heftier, with 2 lbs. of spare ribs (not baby back) costing about $38. We get about 14 ribs that lasts for two meals for two people.

Amazing food and always a great experience. I've been coming here since I was a kid, and it's always a pleasure to come back. The place has a strong Texas-style BBQ vibe that makes it feel authentic and welcoming. You have to try the ribs with their house-made BBQ sauce -- absolutely delicious and one of the best things on the menu. The service has always been good every time I've visited. Another plus is the beer pitchers, which are very convenient and perfect for sharing. The place looks great too; it seems like they remodeled recently, and everything feels nicer and well kept. Don't skip the sweet corn with butter -- spectacular. Highly recommended, especially if you love classic BBQ.

    Fries to go

I LOVE SHORTYS SO MUCH!!!!!!!! Id give them 1 million stars if I could. Their fries are the absolute best in South Florida. Ask for them extra crispy with their BBQ sauce..... SO GOOODDDDDDD. Always excellent service aswell. Ive never had a bad experience here.

The service was nice and the ambiance was alright. A plus that they were showing the fifa 2026 world cup game which was amazing. I didn't really like though that my food came in 7 minutes after the rest of my table got their food. My philly cheesesteak was okay at best but nothing phenomenal to be completely honest. My stomach was actually in pain after eating the food here so that's a little interesting as well. All in all even though it was a 4th of july occasion I don't really see myself coming back to a place like this in the future...

full rack of ribs with fries, garlic bread, and coleslaw

I came here for an early dinner with my family on a Wednesday night. We ordered the appetizer sampler platter (chicken wings, mozzarella sticks, potato skins, fried okra) and the full rack of ribs (garlic bread, fries, coleslaw). The portions were large and definitely shareable. The appetizers tasted fresh especially the fried okra. The full rack of ribs were a bit dry and overcooked. The fries and garlic bread were good though. Service was friendly and fast. I did like they provided warm water in individual cups to wash our hands after the meal. It's a solid place for BBQ if you're in the area.

It's been a long time since I've been to Shorty's for ribs. And eating there the other day reminded me that I need to go back more. The half rack of ribs was right off the bone delicious. Juicy, tender, and oh that barbecue sauce yummy. It makes me feel like I'm in Texas with the interior decor. fun place to go and eat.

Anyone who's been in Florida for a while knows we're kind of lacking in the barbecue department. However, I found myself pretty okay with the meal I had at Shorty's. At least by Florida standards, I certainly wasn't mad at it. The baby back ribs were decently tender, although there was a little too much fat in a few spots near the end. I thought the sauce was nice, more Kansas City style. I wish they'd had a smokey char on the outside, but I would be willing to order these again. As for the sides, the cornbread was decent, sweet enough and not too dry. The fries and garlic toast were fine, but the coleslaw was really bland. We tried the key lime pie after seeing a few people praise it online, but it was nowhere near tart enough in my opinion. While the interior was a little kitschy, the food came out quick, and it's really convenient that they're open a little later (10 PM), unlike a lot of places in the area. In truth, I feel like this is more of a 3.5 star, but given the shortage we've got down here, I'll bump it to 4. I'd be willing to give them another try and sample some of their other menu options.

The original Shorty's opened in South Miami way back in 1951. In addition to the South Miami Shorty's there is a restaurant in West Miami and this one in Davie which opened in 1988. They also do a lot of catering. I remembered them fondly from my time living in Davie in the early 90's. I was in the area and decided to have a little Oscar's party and I ordered a family pack so I didn't have to cook dinner. I phoned in my order a half hour before I wanted it and was easily able to pick it up outside at the walk up window. I appreciate how fast and convenient it is to get your food here and get back on your way. If you want to dine in, the inside is very rustic with wood tables and all kinds of western decorations that goes well with the Davie theme. For the meal I chose the family baby back platter for two ($52.99) and it was a lot of food. I paid an extra dollar for white meat chicken. You get a aluminum tray filled with beef, chicken, pork, and ribs along with a box filled with fries and four pieces of Texas toast. Rounding out the meal was corn on the cob, beans, coleslaw, and BBQ sauce. The meat was really tender and flavor and there was enough for leftovers. I enjoyed it with their sauce, coleslaw, fries, and toast. We ended up tossing the beans because they had no taste and the corn was really awful as well. It was minor quibble and if I bought a family platter again I would probably just make my own corn and grab some beans from the Publix deli. Shorty's BBQ is a Davie landmark on the northwest corner of University Drive and Stirling Road. This place holds a lot of nostalgia for me and it says a lot for them to have stayed in business as long as they have. They area is starting to change with more development but I hope they stay the same old fashioned, locally loved BBQ joint they have always been.

    Legit onion rings
    Albert W.

Thursday night, 8pm. Hungry. We started with an order of onion rings. To my surprise, they were made right. The key to proper onion rings is that they are large rings with just the amount of seasoned breading, gently fried. The end caps or tiny pieces would be used for house made BBQ sauce if the chef knows what he's doing and this guy does. I had the brisket sandwich which came with fries and my friend had the baby back ribs and chicken combo. First the fries that came with the sandwich and my friend's combo were generic, fancy cut frozen fries, but they were generally fried well and honestly can't have too much of it as it's just too filling. The brisket on the sandwich was generally pretty lean which I didn't mind - it would be awesome if pickles were provided. The ribs - moist. Chicken - moist and that's rare for something grilled. No sandbagging here! Service was slightly slow for the night, but the quality, fair value, and ambiance made up for the experience. Only few odd things that happened was providing a sauce that was stored in a parmesan cheese shaker (real messy trying to pour that onto food). Instead of a standard wet nap, a small cup of warm water was provided to wash your hands with the roll of paper towel already on the table.

Stopped in by chance and was not disappointed. Excellent brisket burger and my favorite French fries "crinkle cut". Cooked to perfection.

The restaurant is inviting and spotless, with cozy booths on one side and tables for walk-in orders. The menu is straightforward: choose between half or whole fried chicken or wings, with options for bone-in or boneless, and spice levels ranging from mild to their special spicy sauces. The food truly impresses. The chicken is perfectly fried--crisp without being greasy, tender, and packed with flavor. It's a clear step above KFC, Popeyes, or any American fried chicken chain. If you're a fried chicken fan, I highly recommend giving this place a try--you won't be disappointed.

Parking can be tricky in that plaza. Everything was clean and the server was chill. He gave me some recommendations that I enjoyed. As for the food. This is some crispyyy chicken. The wings I got were steaming hot when they came out and they tasted as if they were freshly made rather than just reheated. The flavors to me were just right. I also got the kimchi fried rice and it added a nice level of comfort to the food. Initially it seems like this may not be enough but it was more than plenty. Serving size and flavors were there. I'll have to come back to try a different flavor of wings and see if they're still made nice and fresh or if it was a coincidence for my first time.

It was empty. But it slowly got more diners, with about 5 tables filled before we left. Service was fine but the waitress who took our order barely spoke English and it was difficult getting answers about items on the menu. Nevertheless, we ordered pan-fried dumplings, the three meat combo plate with roast duck, BBQ roast pork, and crispy pork. We also got a seafood platter with salt and pepper shrimp, squid, and scallops. The latter didn't have much taste. We couldn't even taste any salt and pepper. The dish came on a bed of shredded raw cabbage. There was no rice. When I asked, the server (a different one from the woman who took our order) brought us a small bowl. They had forgotten to put the rice on the plate. (The dish is advertised as being served on a bed of rice.) The meat platter was decent. Although the duck skin needed to be crispier, the pork skin was very crispy. The BBQ roast pork was tasty, boasting a nice char siu flavor. The few strands of Chinese broccoli that was served with the dish was cold, as if it was added from the refrigerator. We enjoyed the pan-fried dumplings. They seemed to be homemade.
