I was VASTLY overcharged for the installation a wifi card, a process which is extremely simple and should not take more than about 2 minutes.
I was experiencing issues with a custom built pc so I decided to take it in for a diagnostic test. The cost of this test for a desktop was $35, a very reasonable price and about half of what Nerds to Go quoted me at.
I explained what the issue was and that it occurred when I tried to install a wifi card. They told me to leave the wifi card with them so they could examine if that was related to the problem.
When I returned the next day to pick up my computer, I was met with an additional $75 fee that I was not previously notified of. I was told this fee was to cover the installation of the wifi card.
As I mentioned, this is a very straightforward process that should never take more than a couple minutes from the beginning of installation to the end testing. I would have fully expected a local business to provide this trivial service for no extra cost as I was already paying for the diagnostic check. I was extremely disappointed to receive this excessive additional bill without notice and left feeling completely ripped off.
The one saving grace was the employee who helped me, Orian, who provided excellent service. I brought the pc home and was still experiencing the same issue. When I called back, Orian ended up coming out to my house to help me solve it for no extra cost. As it turns out, the issue I was having turned out to be related to the display, not something that would have been caught by any diagnostic check.
It is worth noting that most customers should not to expect to receive the additional help that Orian provided me with but I wanted to recognize an exceptional employee as a part of this review.
TL;DR: I was inexcusably overcharged but received great service from one specific employee. read more
