Adding on after Sunline Energy's response: I did not mention the following yet it is important to do so, in 2024 3 roofing companies told me that the roof was past due on repair, I had mentioned what happened with Sunline Energy in 2023 and was told that your company as well as others install on roofs that are not healthy enough and even with replacement of shingles the plywood was not thick enough to support solar panels, in other words, Sunline never mentioned something that was felt just by walking on the roof, ethics should be as important as obtaining a sale because people work hard to keep there home maintained, honesty is the best policy, I understand that the company must achieve sales but situations as so are very disturbing, Sunline Energy continues to owe us $1,000 due to a deposit for a job that never took place.

So without contacting us, WITHOUT our consent, charged our credit card they had on record. Here is the whole story: I originally installed solar 9 years ago and recently my solar panels hadn't produced as much as they used to. I requested several quotes and had 3 top contenders. Family first rang me up and I immediately had a gut feeling that they were the ones for the job. I bought an Enphase Envoy metered S and a Combiner Box 4 that I purchased directly from Enphase. What does this mean? Basically, I lost the ability to monitor my solar panels and needed to see if they are producing what they should and feeding back into the grid. My last SDGE electric bill was $590 which was totally ridiculous since I have over 20 solar panels on my roof. Anyways, back to family first, I spoke with Anthony and he was very receptive, called me back to answer my questions, told me what to purchase from Enphase. So , gave him my verbal agreement, he asked for several photos and videos, in which I sent. I spoke to him , had a clear plan of what the job will take, even had a group call with the actual service technician. Appointment made. I took the day off so that I can be on site and get educated and informed in case something was wrong with my panels. Less than 12 hours before they were supposed to show up (the night before), Anthony's technician called me. He said he needed to cancel because he will need a "whole crew" to do this job". I was livid. I explained to him that he made the appointment, was on the group call with me and Anthony, and that he knew what the job needed. I had taken a vacation day from work to be home for the job. But he proceeded to give me excuses how he did not know that the job needed a whole crew. I tried calling Anthony, and my call went straight to voicemail. He called me back and ended up dropping the call. Pretty bummed at the situation, my gut feeling was to cancel the job and hire someone else. I ended up hiring a local company (I posted a review about them). It only took 1 technician and 1 apprentice to do the job. It took them 3 hours to get the install completed. I am glad that I did not have "Family First Solar" do the job. I felt as if they were trying to upsell me on my repair. Instead I hired an actual electrical company who had been around for over 20 years. Bottom line, say what you mean, mean what you say. I don't like to flake on people. If you've made an appointment, keep it. I've learned so much during this process. I'm hoping that by sharing my experience, you can learn as well. In response to Anthony's comments: Yes I sent a video on Wednesday2/14/24 , 2 days prior to the appointment. However, I sent several photos and videos a week prior 2/8/24 via email to Anthony clarifying the project. And ....we had a phone conference call with David and Anthony on the phone detailing the project. Bottom line is: The communication breakdown was not from me, the customer. I did not add any new tasks to the job. I had been discussing the details a week prior. Anyways, the other company I hired did the job in half a day with 1 electrician and 1 apprentice. I guess we can sum up this review as a breakdown in communication and not the job itself. I'll add a star for Anthony's diligence. However, owning up to a mistake and showing extreme ownership is another trait that I would have fully respected.

I called West Coast for a second opinion seeing as they did a great job installing a mini split unit for me 2 years ago. Uriel came out and determined it was a bad sensor in the outdoor unit and to replace that would be 1/10 the cost quoted by the other company. Uriel found that the wire to the sensor had been chewed through, likely by a rat. The A/C is now functioning correctly and I'm very happy with the team at West Coast Heating Cooling and Solar.

I had called a few installers and talked with the usual door knocking suspects, but none of them took the time to explain the details, options, and costs as clearly as Blake did. The great thing about Blake is that he really enjoys designing systems that work well, fit your needs, and save you money. The other quotes I got felt like cookie cutter systems, usually too small, not specific to our needs, and quite expensive. All said and done, conservatively speaking, we save about $250/month. And we all know costs have gone up since then. SHS Power isn't a huge company and they're genuinely interested in finding the right solution for you. For example, they installed a smart car charger that charges our EV with excess solar generated. Normally, that power would be sent back to SDGE, but with NEM 3.0 it's really not worth the trouble. If it works for your schedule, it's a game changer. Finally, I've heard some horror stories about systems that were installed, but couldn't get passed by the inspectors. I was super impressed with Dominic's ability to know what the inspectors were looking for and how to "speak their language". Passed on the first go. It was a small detail rather than something that was a terrible never ending blocker. If you've ever had to deal with government inspections, you know what I'm talking about. I'm extremely disappointed with Stellar Solar and the lack of support I've received regarding the warranty on my solar system. Stellar Solar installed my system, including approximately 50 SunPower/Maxeon panels, in 2019. As the professional installer, I reasonably expected them to make sure the system and equipment were properly registered for the manufacturer's warranty--or, at the very least, clearly notify me that I was personally required to complete a separate registration within a specific time period. That apparently did not happen. The system was not registered in advance by Stellar Solar, and I was not adequately informed or assisted with completing the registration. Years later, when I actually need warranty coverage, I'm being told there is a registration problem and I am now having to fight to get the panels covered. This is incredibly frustrating. Customers spend tens of thousands of dollars on solar systems in part because of the long-term equipment warranties. An installer should have procedures in place to ensure its customers don't unknowingly lose warranty protection because of an administrative registration requirement. What has been most disappointing is the lack of meaningful assistance from Stellar Solar in resolving a problem involving a system they sold and installed. I shouldn't be left fighting this battle on my own years later. If you're considering Stellar Solar, I strongly recommend getting written confirmation that every component of your system has been properly registered with the manufacturer and obtaining copies of those registrations before considering the installation complete. Until Stellar Solar steps up and helps resolve this warranty issue, I cannot recommend them.
