I try not to eavesdrop, especially when I am enjoying nice conversation with my wife, but the couple at the table next to us almost made me lose my appetite. All the talk about how the community adores them and what a wonderful, shinning example of a couple they are and how much money they have and blah, blah, blah. I couldn't believe the self congratulatory festival they were holding. But I will expel their dual narcissism from my mind and carry on with more important details of our experience. The restaurant at the Shore Lodge, which recently changed it's name back to the original from Whitetail Club after a change of ownership, is one of the more elegant in town. The lodge is just over 60 years old and has been well maintained. It has the feel of a country club, not that I should know. We went for dinner and I was in the mood for a Kobe beef burger, but it was Valentine's Day weekend and they were trying a more limited and fancier menu. Not a problem because the lamb shank served with lentils, beets, onions and carrots I had was excellent and my wife really enjoyed her grouper with pesto and potatoes. The portions were surprisingly huge. The lamb was tender and melted off the bone. It was marinated in a nice Burgundy sauce. Prior to the main course I had a fantastic potato leek soup and my wife had an amazing salad that included beets and goat cheese. We also enjoyed pecan crusted baked brie served with a sweet fig spread. The attention to detail was impressive and a good example of that is seen in the food presentation. I am not a big salad eater but my wife's plate was beautiful to look at. The dinning area is cozy and dimly lit, over looking Payette lake (which is frozen this time of year) through large windows. Smaller tables for two would provide better intimacy, but over all it is a nice atmosphere. Wait staff is very attentive. And to be fair, I suppose I could have overheard the wonder twins anywhere, so don't worry about being around shallow, egocentric couples if you go here. read more

A pampering hotel experience at the Mccall landmark Shore Lodge. The Payette Lake front property offers such a breathtaking and tranquil view, hard to rival. Rates during peak season are prohibitive for many so book off-season since it's lovely and much to do year-round.The service is very accommodating(wine and treat at check-in) & amenities a plenty(smore making at night). Their movie theatre is under renovation now but DVD player and extensive movie list will be delivered to your room. The beds could be more comfortable. Will check out the spa next time. read more

Shore Lodge - Absolutely beautiful and serene view from lake front room. - Resorts Near Me - McCall, Idaho

OK rooms. Not many amenities. Need to special request a shower cap. ha? that's a strange one. One of those rooms that still have built in walls AC. When it's on, horrible noise. When it's off, hot hot hot summer. Most uncomfortable bed I slept in for eons. Horrible nights sleep. Sorry I meant, no sleep. Wake up with a stiff neck If you managed to sleep at all. Amazing view. Overly overpriced dining area. $100 bill easily. The best dish was the Idaho potatoes/ Caramelized onion and mushroom roast appetizer. Kobe beef sampler was also delicious. Nice presentation for the meal. The pier and docking area is lovely and was my fav of this stay. you can easily spend hours sitting on those chairs and people watch. All on all. I give it 3 stars mainly for the horrible bed and noisy air conditioning. I understand it might be the nicest place in McCall but not as nice a hotel needs to be. read more

Shore Lodge is an institution and there is nothing like winter at the lodge, especially around Christmas and New Year. We went with a group of 15 and couldn't have had a better time. The rooms are much nicer since the update but still need a few things, like better mattresses that don't sag. They weren't terrible but they were very soft in spots and not uniformly. The service is exactly what you'd expect from a premium hotel and it definitely stands out in McCall. From the moment you check in to the bar and even when you are sitting around the fireplace, someone is always attentive and ready to help. The amenities are great. They have a theatre room that shows free movies every night and depending on the audience, you can even pick. They played Jumanji while we were there and the kids and adults couldn't have been happier, especially when they filled up on the free popcorn. The outdoor hot pools and hot tub are exceptional, what a great way to spend a cold evening, swimming in the hot pool, taking a dip and then eating S'mores which are conveniently located next to the fire pit and included with your stay. Some of the best parts of the hotel are just sitting around the fireplace reading or having a cocktail and looking at the lake and surrounding mountains covered in snow and ice. The food service in the Cutwater restaurant was the reason for taking off a star. The service in that restaurant just didn't match the rest of the hotel. Orders came out wrong, we waited more than 25 minutes (and finally had to ask, even though we'd been seated by a host) to get water or menus at breakfast and it wasn't even half full. The food that was served looked like it came out of a buffet line and had set too long. The scrambled eggs were tough and brown on the outside and the bacon was charcoal. When we pointed it out they fixed it but it took quite a while. We ate there twice and both times had similar experiences. We also ordered a charcuterie plate in the upstairs bar and it is advertised on the menu as having pickles and almonds, when it came out neither were on the plate, when we asked about it they said there's never been pickles or nuts on this tray. We pointed out that it said there were on the menu and they were very surprised to see it and said no one had ever said anything in the couple of years the person had been serving it. They were very nice and found some dill pickles and almonds and brought them up. If they upped their food service game a bit and updated their mattresses this would be a solid five starts. But, even without this is an exceptional getaway in a quintessential Idaho mountain town and it beats Sun Valley hands down. Go to The Pancake house for breakfast and My Father's Place for lunch, skip the Cutwater and you'll have the time of your life. read more

Nobody mentioned the Korean chicken wings as an appetizer. They were fantastic. Prices were exceptionally reasonable for a resort town. Went into the main dining area and was told without reservations it would be a 2 hour wait. We started to leave and the doorman said, why not try the lounge, they have the same dinner menu as the main dining area. It turned out to be a better crowd in the lounge. Food was great (and it was happy hour too). read more

I just left shore lodge. We have been here many times. Usually outstanding service for high prices. Worth it for the view. Tonight,Horrible. Bartender was out server, never followed up with us. Filthy, dirty apron. I actually had to go to the hotel registry to get out check paid. They didn't even make it right. Charged full price. Will not be back. Has been a continual downward slide for over a year. read more

If you stay here, don't waste your time or money to reserve/ schedule the extra amenities the lodge claims to provide. We paid to reserve the theatre for a private screening, nothing was done to reserve the theater for us. When we arrived there at the time we paid to reserve the theater for a private screening, the theater was swarming with unattended children. When we went for help they were snotty and claimed they were not told that it was a private screening. We waited for 45 minuets for someone to help. Everyone claimed ignorance. I'm VERY disappointed. We've paid a significant amount of money to spend our holiday here, and it's been one disappointment after another. Customer service here is as lacking just like the insulation in the wall to buffer the noise of the rooms around. The food had the flavor of a salt lick, the spa staff is beyond snotty. On a brighter note, the Christmas trees in the lodge are beautiful. read more

Stayed here for my GF's birthday weekend. I have a habit of looking around the property at all places we stay and I will tell you that the Shore Lodge is impeccable. They are dog friendly and don't gouge you on cost. I imagine the guests are usually a higher quality guest as I found that their well manicured lawns were not covered with dog feces. I hate it when people claim their pet is their child and won't go so far as to pick up after them. If they did have kids, would they leave them in a soiled diaper all day? So the upkeep of the hotel is great. The staff I found was very pleasant. Everyone greeted us with a smile and an offer; holding the door, parking the car, handling bags. I know it's their job but they came across as enthusiastic. I enjoyed the stay but there was one little annoying problem in room 301, it sounds like a toilet tank flushes and the tank takes forever to refill. Not sure if this was the AC/Heater on the wall or coming from the bathroom. The room was so dark and bed so comfortable that I just rolled over and dealt with it. We would like to stay overlooking the lake but from what I understand they don't offer dog rooms on that side. Hopefully if this is a policy, they'll review it and make a few room available in the future. We'd pay a little more for that op. We ate breakfast downstairs and across from where the boats would be moored. I had the best SOS since the Army in the early 80s. Military folks will know what I mean. Try it... you'll like it. Though the restaurant wasn't packed (it was early) the service was great, prompt. I see a few other yelpers had some issues but that's their deal. I had a great stay and would recommend The Shore Lodge to anyone I know visiting this neck of Idaho. It's probably the nicest bang for the buck in McCall. One last word of warning though if you're not familiar with Idaho... when driving, do the exact speed limit posted, 25 means 25 and not 30. I almost got a second ticket for the day (Yes, I got one earlier). Pay attention to the signs. Other than that, enjoy! read more

Everything was great, except the room situation. DO NOT get a room by the pool. It's open until 11pm at night. The noise never ends until then. If you think you want to take a mid-day nap, forget it. Its way to loud. They have a heavy iron gate that gets you in the pool area, it bangs and bangs all day and until 11 pm at night. We couldn't move rooms because they were fully booked. That being said, the lodge is beautiful and the foods is great. Location in spectacular, but not being able to sleep or relax in any any way in our room was a total disappointment. read more

We reserved and then rented a sailboat, and then decided we needed to eat first. We talked to the people at the marina and they said it was no problem and they would move our time up an hour. While eating lunch next to the lake, we saw the sailboat we had rented going by. After lunch we learned there had been a mix-up and another party had rented the boat for four hours. The staff at the Shore Lodge was very accommodating and made it right, and we returned the next day for a beautiful sail. Things happen, and Eva and Felipe and the staff at the marina could not have been more helpful. Beautiful location and facilities, great restaurant, and above-and-beyond customer service. Thank you, Shore Lodge! read more

My sweetheart has a family house in nearby Donnelly and we come up every summer. I don't know why I had never visited the Shorelodge for anything more than the fabulous Wooden Boat Show. We rolled in for lunch a day or so ago and found an empty dining room straight ahead off of the reception desk. When we located a staff member (reception had just one employee that was on the phone and nobody was at the concierge desk) and inquired we were given helpful info about all three restaurants at Shorelodge. Lakegrill was the only establishment open at the time and we were glad to be seated at a table just feet from the lake. The server was bright and friendly and we were both happy with the meals and libations we chose. I had the Asian Chicken Salad which was good, all flavors pointing the right direction. Sweetlove had the Ham and Cheese Panini with sweet potato fries. I didn't have a chance to try the panini but it looked gloriously gooey and delish. Love the history of the place, love the upscale design and service which is almost out of place in that neck of the woods! Can't wait to go back and try their fancy Narrows restaurant for dinner. read more

We stopped in two weekends ago (6/22/21), and I was blown away by one staff member in particular. We had lunch downstairs, and it was lovely, but the real impression happened when we moved upstairs for a cocktail. We were greeted by Roystar, and he was extremely helpful in deciding what drink to order for one of the gals. We casually mentioned that we'd been trying to find a spa for a massage and that Shore Lodge had been full. He called around to THREE different locations without being asked or anything. He was genuinely trying be helpful and ensure that we had a good day. Little things like that go such a long way in a world that can feel like people are in a hurry and not really listening to the "small talk" that can often be exchanged in a bar. It felt so genuine and kind. He also happened to be an excellent bartender, as well. His drinks were exceptional. Thank you, Roystar!!! read more

This review is regarding Shore Lodge cancellation policy. They require 15 days notice or they "take" your deposit. We had planned to stay on October 19th for 2 nights, but wasn't feasible anymore due to issues with our newborn baby. Of course, that didn't matter to them, and we are now on a waitlist to see if someone else can use our room. Just beware of their 15 day cancelation policy... almost unheard in the day & age. read more

Dinner at the Narrows Restaurant overlooking Payette Lake. Started with a pear and blue cheese salad in mixed greens with candied nuts and a fruit vinagrette. I ordered the small and it was sharable. Hubby had a delicious mushroom sausage tomato soup. Hearty and plenty of ingredients.I ordered the mustard encrusted salmon with a berry sauce. I'm not a huge fan of fruit sauces on my fish, but it was good, albeit a lot of flavors combined together made it kind of busy, taste-wise. Hubby thought his short ribs were the best he's ever had. The service was attentive and friendly. The view of the lake was stunning as it turned a beautiful pink color. It had a nice crowd for a Friday night. All in all I was pleased with our experience and would definately go back. read more

This review is for the lower level restaurant. We have eaten here a couple times and have enjoyed the beautiful view and good food. This is a great place to take out-of-town visitors to enjoy a good meal and enjoy the scenery. During the summer you can eat outside and, of course, in the winter you will eat indoors. I've really had no bad experiences here. Both times were very enjoyable. read more

The Shore Lodge is beautiful, but sadly the food was mediocre. Four of us dined, all ordering different things, and sadly none of our selections were great. For the cost, one should expect more flavorful and well-plated food, but this was not. We were celebrating birthdays, and the cake, although complimentary, was dry and lacking any flavor. I would recommend Steamers down the street where we've never had a bad meal. read more

Must read my entire review: I was here in June for Father's Day weekend and had a horrible experience. My guess is the lodge was adjusting to the constraints of COVID and had yet to figure it out. I am very happy to report that things have changed in the very best of directions. I was there this last Saturday for a lunch meal with my family of five. The menu was no longer limited and the service provided by Shannon was absolutely superior. We felt welcomed and well taken care of from the time we entered to the time we sadly had to leave. I had the best (and I mean it!) mussels I have ever had in my culinary experiences. They were perfectly cooked in the most delicious wine/garlic/butter sauce. I literally drank the remaining nectar from the bowl. This is saying a lot especially since Shore Lodge is no where near an ocean. The mussels teamed very well with some bread and a glass of Chardonnay. The rest had fish tacos, a Ruben, and a couple of burgers and all were way above average. I think you can order just about anything on the menu and be very pleased. Add up the one-of-a-kind view of the lake, Shannon's professional welcoming service, and the excellent food- you will thank me. I hope the mussels never disappear from the menu and Shannon never retires. read more

There was an accident at the property: a guest cut his eyebrow by hitting a sharp object on a mechanical door. After letting the administration know about the accident, no one ever cared to offer any help, ice or first aid kit. No one cared at the time of the accident, and no one cared afterwards calling it "your private business" that happened at their property. So this guest will have a scar on the forhead and will let know all platforfms and Consumer Affairs about irresponsible and careless administration. Horrible experience! Stay as far away as possible! Apologies are not accepted. read more

If you are in McCall, this is the place to stay! The location right on Payette Lake is spectacular. The rooms are beautiful. Having a cup of coffee at the waters edge is the perfect way to start any morning. It's evident the entire staff has making your stay enjoyable and one you won't forget as their top priority. You're only regret when staying here will be when you have to check out and return to reality. read more

Normally, I eat at Narrows, the restaurant but on July 7th my family & I ate at the bar section of Narrows. The food was very good, but the service was horrible. Our waitress (Carrie) was very rude and snarled at us because the a/c was blowing on us & we were freezing. We also asked if there was a way to get the band that was playing not to play so loud (keep in mind, there were cords hooked up to speakers from there instruments) & Carrie said "I don't think there is a volume switch." With that said, we left a $2 tip on a $120 bill. read more

Disappointed. I made reservations for the cut water restaurant, to sit outside. Upon arrival we were told there were no avilable tables, within 20min of seating us inside, 4 tables were seated outside. The hostess said she didnt realize there were tables outside and if we ordered dessert we could go sit by the water. Will not return, and I am a local. read more

Very disappointing service. Called in yesterday morning asking if we needed to reserve a spot for our pool/spa day passes. We were told no, and that they actually don't even take down reservations for the pool. At this point the receptionist stated that it would be best if we just came down before evening and it would be fine. So around 3pm we get to the Shore Lodge and go to check in for the pool... Receptionist informs us that she is "all booked up for the pools" for the rest of the day with absolutely no availability. She kept using the phrase "booked up" which seemed questionable considering what we had been told on the phone that morning. When we mentioned what we had been told about their apparent "no reservation" policy for the pools she just brushed over it completely with a quick, if not somewhat condescending "well I've been here all day so I don't know". Since obviously there was nothing that could be done we left feeling frustrated and disappointed. The silver lining in the situation was that we ended up going slightly out of our way to Gold Fork Hot Springs where we had an incredible time. Would not recommend shore lodge to anyone who doesn't want the run around from customer service. Side note; I give two stars instead of one because this place IS gorgeous, and the other staff I encountered were friendly & helpful. read more

Whoa, this place is super posh. Definitely out of my league, but whatever, my mom was taking care of the bill. We stopped in after a day on the pontoon boat, and even though we were in our swimsuits and looked a little ragged, they seated us right away and didn't bat an eye. Our servers were very friendly, and the place is simply stunning. There's a huge aquarium in the game room (along with pool and shuffle board, to name a few) and a stunning view of Payette Lake from the patio area. We snacked on flatbread and enjoyed a few delicious cocktails. Although the Shore Lodge is awfully fancy, they make all their guests feel comfortable. We had a lovely time enjoying the view, vittles, and vino. Pop in for a drink, you'll love it. read more

Driving into McCall from Boise I didn't know what to expect. When I arrived, the vallet was incredibly friendly and helpful, walkied to the front desk that I had arrived like a celebrity. I get to the front desk and they have the MOST delicious homemade spicy hummus (I've tried a lot of hummus, this really was the best), homemade crackers, and an olive assortment to greet me. They also offered me a glass of wine on the house. What service!!! It gets better. I get to my room and while it is not incredibly modern, it was very nice and had such character! They already had jazz playing from the stereo that sounded like it was from my grandpa's jukebox as a kid. I had the most beautiful lake view and the art and furniture made me feel like my room might not just be identical to every other (does anyone else get bored of boring hotel rooms that all look the same?). Anyway, I love it. I'm actually yelping this from the Shore Lodge currently :) Maybe I'll stay forever. read more

We have stayed at the Shorelodge on multiple occasions. The lakefront/view guest suites are the way to go...a beautiful view of Payette Lake and a balcony to enjoy a morning cup of coffee or an evening adult beverage. The decor of each suite reflects a mountain lodge setting; and each room contains a small refrigerator, coffee maker and safe but no microwave. The luxurious bathroom amenities are from their spa, The Cove and such a nice touch. Their weekly specials are a bonus too: live music on Sunday/Monday and burger night on Thursday. The staff at the Shorelodge are extremely helpful and incredibly friendly. We have always enjoyed our annual week-long stay at this property with our boat conveniently located just steps away in a rented slip. But be careful of coming back to the lodge late in the day during the peak season; locals have no problem docking in a boat slip while they eat dinner even though a guest of the lodge (who has paid $50/day for that slip) is left stranded. Management should come up with a better system for identifying occupied slips...that is really my only complaint. And for any future guest, make sure you check in AFTER 3pm to enjoy a complimentary glass of wine and small appetizer. But most importantly, know the dates of your stay; the Shorelodge has a strict cancellation policy and any modifications to a reservation must be made upon arrival or a one-night's stay penalty will be assessed. It's completely understandable since this property only has 77 guest suites and it's a sought after destination but it's also an expensive lesson to learn. You can't go wrong with this property...so make your reservation and enjoy the Shorelodge and McCall, Idaho...you'll love it!!! read more

Love this place. Staff very attentive as you walk in the front door and rooms are cozy. Can't beat the view of Payette Lake.

I'm on a 7 day motorcycle tour and stayed at the Shore Lodge on 8/25. It was great, the room was a little small but nice. What a surprise when they came to my room with a cookie and offering turn down service. I had a nice dinner and walk around the property by the lake. We made a stay and ski reservation using their online system and on the day we were to check in we were called and told the computer system messed up and the rate we received confirmation for was not correct. They gave us the option to refund the deposit or to stay but we would have to pay an additional $300 for the ski package we had confirmation for. It was too late to make other arrangements since this was a holiday weekend. Even after requesting the manager to reconsider, we were still told they would not honor the contract. We will not be making any more reservations with a hotel that will not honor their confirmed reservations. I could understand if their computer glitch was caught a week or more out, but refusing to honor the contract on check-in day is completely unacceptable. read more

The Shore Lodge is a beautiful inn built in 1948 that looks out over Payette Lake. We shared an heirloom tomato and mozzarella salad. Good too but the soy overpowered the fish. Lemon pannacotta for dessert. The food was great, service good and view terrific ! We had a split of Adelsheim Pinot Noir.
