Worn out and needs remodeling. Sparse kitchen equipment. Very limited and basic property. It could be cleaner. Not recommended.

Lovely and clean. Would stay again. The bedrooms were roomy. Master bed was comfortable.

Little did we know that was the only "great" of the evening. Water and menu's arrived after 10 minutes. "Server will be with you". Ha! Another 10 minutes. Caught the water guy again and asked for the wine menu. Leaves, see him consult with bar tender. Comes back and says it is in the back of menu he gave us. We say, "No, this only has wine by the glass. We are looking for "bottles". He scurries around looking at menus on other tables and then back for more consultation with bar tender. All the while I see what I think is the wine menu standing up at the end of the bar. Just as I am getting ready to go get what I think is the menu, it appears. And then the long lost server appears. We ask for a glass of rose for me and a bottle of Grgich Merlot for my husband and for dinner. He returns with glass of rose and a glass of red wine. "No, we want a bottle", we say and point to menu. More time elapses, he returns and says, "no Grgich". We had planned a back up and asked for a bottle of Walla Walla Tempernillo. Again point to menu. He disappears again, even more time elapses, and he returns with a bottle of Cabernet from the bar. So, at this point we surrender, deciding he doesn't know where the wine cellar is located, and accept the bottle. Wait. The saga continues: server returns and asks about dinner. We order. He disappears for another 5 minutes. Returns with his order pad and asks again what we would like for dinner. We order again. He appears to write order down. Salad comes. We finish it. Time elapsed. Kitchen server arrives with husband's entree. Places it between us. Bad sign. Another long wait. I tell Phil to go ahead and eat. Flag different server and ask about my entree. Original server reappears. He asks surprised. Hurries off. Time elapsed. Kitchen server arrived with another of husband's entree not mine! "No, we say we ordered steak and fries." Phil finishes his meal. Time elapsed. Finally, my steak arrives. All this time original server walks by and makes no eye contact. Bar tender comes by to clean table and offer a take away box. We decide against dessert and ask for bill. Husband goes to bar to pay bill, consults with bar tender and he goes and gets the manager. Manager excuses. Goes away and returns with new bill that removes glasses of wine and reduces entrees by 50%. The end of our fine dining experience. Laugh ourselves silly all the way to the car. Recommendations: 1. Don't plan a birthday dinner on Monday during the shoulder season at Shore Lodge 2. Just go to Salmon River Brewing Company.

Stopped into a yurt for some liquid courage and off I go- lots to select from beers, drinks, and food- chicken and waffles at a yurt? What should have been a super fun day turned…read moreinto a terrible day when the snowmobile tipped and pinned my 9 year old daugher's leg under the snowmobile. She was screaming and I was desperately trying to lift this 400 pound machine off of my daughter while screaming for help. Thank god my 6 foot 4 brother in law ran and tip it up so we could pull her out. Her leg was bruised but thank god not broken. The guid's response? "Oh, that happens all the time. They're built to tip over." WHAT?? Stunned at her cavalier attitude I'm like, "so this is a normal experience on your trips? Do you think you should do anything differently so this doesn't happen?" She's like "I feel like you're attacking me - we did everything right." No, Perry, you didn't. The safety prep was so inadequate - you never told my daughter to keep her legs on the metal footrests (I didn't know to tell her!) nor did you explain how often they tip and what to do. And this is what haunts me - after we'd been riding 30 mins I HAPPENED TO ASK if I should pin the kill switch to my jumper. Court, the male guide (who was super kind) said "oh yeah! That's important so if you fall off the vehicle stops." Friends, had I not had that on, my daughter might not have her leg. What a different experience that would have been if they had adequate safety training. "Hey these tip a lot - so here is how to safely fall so you don't get pinned. Oh if someone tips other people need to rush and help them tip back up. And here's the kill switch you must attach to your person so the vehicle stops when you fall. And kids, keep your feet on the metal footrests because if you dangle your legs bellow them your leg will get pinned." I will say I spoke to guest relations and they were very kind. Just empathy - they still charged us the 1k for the trauma, but I did feel like they really listened and took my suggestion of giving the guides a physical checklist to go over like pilots do before flights. Like I totally get that mistakes happen, but own them. Do better next time. Care if your families have a good time or a terrible time.

We chose the Nordic Inn based on the two Yelp reviews available. I can't find any evidence of correspondence but I thought I had let them know that it was our anniversary. When we arrived in McCall, it was about 11 am. We inquired of the woman at the counter about early check-in. She really didn't answer, just smiled and indicated that 3 pm was check-in time. It was an odd exchange. We asked about recommendations for restaurants for lunch. She just said "Everything is good". Not much help. When we came back, just after 3, the office was locked and another man was waiting. We stood there another five minutes, wondering what was going on, before a woman showed up, explaining that she was in the laundry room, taking care of a problem. She was nice and cheerful, and got us checked in fairly quickly. We were given a first floor room. Our small window was facing the stairwell. For our anniversary. The room was small but clean. There is a cool glass and metal barn door covering the bathroom entrance. The vanity and bathroom/shower are very small. There was no box of tissues in the room. The shower water pressure is weak. The fan works great. The AC works fine. There is a shortage of electrical outlets, none on my side of the king bed. The bed was reasonably comfortable. The property is located on the main drag, a medium walk from the lake and main downtown area. Dark wood and rustic looking. The parking lot could stand to be repaved. When we checked out, about 10:45 am, there was no one in the office. We dropped the keys in the box. We will definitely return to McCall, but I don't think we'll be back to the Nordic Inn.
