The best way to describe this place is underwhelming. Went to the buffet to start with a salad, had to ask four different times just to get some lettuce. Everything was low and someone out back yelled "smells like the buffet is too high". For main food you had a choice of chicken for a protein that's it. The clam chowder was yellow in color and burnt around the edges of the pot. Used the restroom before I left and my shoes were sticking to the floor. They only get one star because I can't give a negative rating. Major changes are needed here. Avoid and go somewhere else. read more

WOW... just wow. I can't even wrap my brain around this place. 4 tables eating in the whole joint. I ordered an omelet w/ fried potatoes and wheat toast. I got a burnt omelet with white toast, no potatoes. Husband ordered a chicken sandwich and fries. Got the sandwich, no fries. Then waitress brings us a platter with steak, baked potato and broccoli. Huh???? She looked sooooo confused. She went to grab our potatoes, 15 minutes - nothing. Oh and the loud mouthed waitress sitting at the counter just got out of jail, is living in a halfway house, hasn't seen her son in over a month, and her husband has a gambling addiction, which the other waitress thinks is rude. Went into this place on a Thursday at 6:15 pm, they weren't terribly busy and were obviously understaffed. There was barely any food on the bar yet they didn't say it was unavailable. No lettuce whatsoever for salads and most of the other salad toppings appeared to have been sitting way too long. The mashed potatoes were almost gone, the black beans looked as though they were leftover from several days ago. Most of the other trays of food were empty. There was something, possibly jello, on the floor by the salad bar and I nearly fell trying to walk around it to see what was left. No one was cleaning it and there was no caution sign anywhere. We were told by the waitress that more food would be on the way. We waited 15 minutes, paid for our cokes and left. Will never be back. Choneys ... I had me a chicken sandwich and fries on Friday night at 630 and this place was empty ... service was great! This server was so nice and actually worked for her tip and understood customer service . Shot out to Dee . My fries were really good , my sandwich was mediocre. I'd like to recommend seasoning with a lil Cajun two step instead of whatever it was you used . My coffee came out fresh and hot . Clean silverware and napkins . Dee put us in a section that I could visibly see my dog who waited for us in the car . I made her a to-go box of left overs and she was very happy . Wouldn't even give it a star. We messed up stopping here. Floor so slippery it was like I was skating. Found a dead fly in the ham and I told a girl about it and she just fished it out and left the ham out for people to eat. I asked for ham from the back and they had no more. There was also a dead fly in the water by the oranges on the bar. They have a very bad fly problem. Nothing was out on the bar like no meat. Didn't have any soft drinks only had tea and water. We were looking for a good breakfast place on the weekend. First time at this Shoney's and despite the reviews, the parking lot was nearly full. There were lots of servers and even two were monitoring the breakfast bar. They had a decent selection and strawberry shortcake too . The food was not bad and I would come back again . I frequent Shoney's a couple of times a month in Columbia and Lewisburg. My favorite thing is the Turkey Club sandwich with Dixie chips. I always order this with two slices of sourdough instead of three and always ask for Dixie chips to be cooked well done because Lewisburg cooks do not fry the chips long enough and they come out partially uncooked. Columbia Shoney's always prepares my sandwich to perfection and the chips are ALWAYS crispy golden brown. This particular evening, I ordered my Turkey Club with two slices of bread, and well done crispy Dixie Chips. My husband also ordered well done Dixie Chips with his spicy chicken sandwich. I heard the server turn in the order and verbally told the cook my order specifics. The restaurant was slow and there were no other orders before mine as I could see the cook from my table. When my order came, there were three slices of sourdough and the chips were not cooked crispy. The server apologized. The sandwich was okay but it was not as delicious as I am used to. From now on, I will drive 10 plus miles to Columbia for my Turkey Club and will no longer eat in Lewisburg Shoney's in the town I live. Very disappointing Lewisburg! read more

We just stopped at Shoney's to get dinner. There was no greeter or any sign telling you to wait to be seated or to seat yourself so we did the latter. We sat at our table for 10 minutes and no one even acknowledged us. My husband finally noticed a woman at the cash register and went to let her know we were there. I ordered a steak. The waitress told me "it will be a while because we don't have any thawed out". So I ordered a hamburger steak, which the menu says is smothered with grilled mushrooms and onions and served with gravy. They brought out a plain unseasoned beef patty. I asked "what happened to the onions and mushrooms?" So they grilled me some and brought them in a dish. Meat was cold by then. Poor service. Bland flavorless food. By far the worst restaurant I've been to between Florida to New York. Had no waiter the entire time we were there. No drinks at all. The waiters just kept looking at us and wouldn't serve us. Then we went to pay for the food and they were very very rude. I will never return to this Shoneys again. Went there with my guys parents. We are selling and buying a house and were in the area. I also work nearby. Had heard it had gotten better...well that is wrong. It's gone back down hill sadly. The lunch buffet had basically really nothing on it. When we were about to leave they added chicken. Before that it was only meat loaf and very old ribs that were extremely dry. We literally did not see our server once during our visit. The only person that waited on us was the greeter (who ended up being the assistant manager). I ll never step foot in there again ! I took my family there , 2 of us had the buffet (Sat before 4pm) . The chicken was bloody red & raw (bad enough that they pulled it from the bar after we pointed it out) , the rest of the food was dried out , scummed over & cold . So I went home & decided to call in on the customer support line & got a return call from the new & improved owner/operator just to get more of the same insults & degrading treatment . My son wanted a steak, ordered it medium well, when it was finally brought to the table it was way overcooked, which was thirty minutes after it was ordered.
