This is the love boat and it's a little bit of everything sushi wise but it's well worth the price one can feed four people

The people were really polite and respectful price was not bad for what we got it was a really enjoyable experience for us and if you are looking for a grate place to start your sushi journey I recommend this place

My wife and I decided to order sushi Friday night and were looking for delivery. Shoku popped up and we were hesitant because we had never been before and hadn't heard much about it but we gave it a shot anyways. WOW - this is my new jam. When I opened the containers of sushi, I was blown away with the amount of fish in each roll. You can see the one roll in the picture that has very little rice and a giant chunk of fish and the entire order was that way. I could not believe how fresh and how big the pieces of fish were. We liked it so much we went there for dinner the following night. Now dinner wasn't the same experience as we had when we ordered delivery. They fish was still excellent and massive. We ordered the boat for two and everything came out quick and as ordered. The pieces of sashimi were huge chunks and were great, overall. The salmon was frozen and icy in the middle but the rest was perfect. The rest of the rolls were okay but not what I would have ordered. There was alot of imitation crab used which would not have been my preference however, the chef's wouldn't have known that since I didn't tell them.

When I visit my family, my sister and I always enjoy a sushi lunch. This is a new place for me that she recently discovered and is close to her house. We went twice during my visit! My first visit I chose two rolls from the lunch menu. The spicy tuna and the eel avocado roll. The spicy tuna is perfectly spicy. The eel roll was great-my niece stole a few pieces! On the second visit I ordered the Sweetie Roll and my sister ordered the King Roll. My roll was great but the King Roll was FIRE!! We will definitely return.

1st visit. We were very pleased. Any time we find at least 3 or more rolls we might like, we want to try the place out. (We like shrimp, crab & smoked salmon...not into the fish, tuna or soft shell crab). This place did not disappoint! We narrowed down about 5 or 6 rolls down to these 3 and they were yummy.

Crazy Roll (left) and Shaggy Dog Roll (right). Both shrimp tempura & cucumber rolls, just different toppings

Get the Volcano Roll! I'm not the biggest sushi fan, but was feeling in the mood for some with my husband. We split the crab Rangoon, gyoza dumplings & fried shrimp appetizers. All were delicious but would prob skip the fried shrimp next time, as it could have used more sauce. Then shared two shrimp tempura rolls (Crazy Roll & Shaggy Dog Roll)... both are the same roll, just with a different topping. Personally I liked the Shaggy Dog since I'm not a fan of salmon which was on the Crazy Roll. We also got the sweet potato roll, which we will def skip next time. Partly because it was too much food, but mainly was just sub par on the flavor. The sweet potato could have been cooked longer as well, as it was somewhat Al dente. But the best part of the meal was hands down the Volcano Roll. Spicy tuna & cream cheese, deep fried and topped with Siracha, spicy Mayo & eel sauce. Will def be back for this roll! Restaurant was clean, pleasant atmosphere and our waitress was great. Will be back!

Had quite the feast last night at this spanking new restaurant... As expected, the place was clean, and practicing great Covid measures (masks, socially distanced seating). Although on the casual side, they featured fine restaurant quality foods and fancy plating even! Also, service was great, and thanks to my waitress' suggestion, my "Rainbow" sushi rolls were indeed AMAZING! I went with 2 equally passionate Foodies, and we ordered up a storm...starting with 3 appetizers, then sushi rolls, followed up with fatty Matcha Cheesecakes...and we lapped it all up, even the smallest one of us (Go Girl, Merna!). I also hope we didn't make too much of a scene trying to get the best shots of these arty foods lol! As far as I'm concerned, there can never be too many great Japanese restaurants...and am so glad this one is off and running with flying colors. Yes Folks, this one is definitely worth checking out...so go now!

The restaurant is new and clean. The food presentation appears nice, but.... the wonton crab cheese puff was chewy. The Agedashi tofu taste lacking granted it should be mild and silky, the sauce that went with it was too bland so it does not contrast with the Tofu. The sushi roll was okay but lacking in taste as well, it mostly taste avocado. The Chirashi was okay. The service was lukewarm. I feel the restaurant is missing authenticity. Overall, this is not for me.

Steak hibachi. Carrots and rice over flowing and steak perfect med rare.

Order and come here often. Inside is such a calm chill mood. Even when it's a busy day it doesn't seem over crowded. Service is always outstanding, especially when toddle has been grump(always feel bad when he suddenly turns a mood). Food is always amazing, my toddler devours the fried rice and miso and will eat edamame. I usually get the steak hibachi my husband gets the fish. Both are always outstanding. Ordering out they Stuff the Togo box. We have had the tempura and takoyaki and those are bomb as well. Love coming here! (Pic from the last time I order through Uber/door dash)

Bad sushi

I came here and was expecting good things from the reviews. First problem was it took 20 minutes just to get water. The second problem, which is way worse, was that the sushi was slimy and was suspicious. I ate one piece and I felt a little odd in the stomach. Luckily they took it off the bill, no hassle. Apps were good too. But safe to say I won't be returning again.

The place has a nice vibe - is clean and has upbeat music. I really enjoyed my sweet potato sushi and ginger salad. My boyfriend really liked his mars roll. The restaurant only had 1 waitress as far as I saw, but we still felt taken care of.

The sushi is fantastic and the kids loved the Hibachi Chicken. Wait staff is great and very attentive. I had the Dynamite Roll, Spider Crab roll and the NY Steak roll. All of it was great! Will definitely come back.

Sushi and service - 5 stars! I would give it 6 if I could - the prices are extremely reasonable! Can't wait for our next visit.

And as crowded as it was on our recent visit, The One may eventually have to seek out trendier, more spacious digs somewhere else in the Queen City. Until then, be prepared for a noisy ambiance, peak hour waits and tables that are a bit close for comfort. But the food and cocktails make it all worth it. The extensive menu of shareable plates offers something for every palate, from the tasty Fettucini with Roasted Duck Ragu and flavorful Braised Short Ribs to the amazing Oxtail Empanadas. Paired with a perfectly mixed Old Fashioned or a bottle of wine from their impressive selection, it adds up to a compelling culinary experience for anything from date night to an evening with friends. Service was excellent on our visit and prices were very reasonable for a meal of this caliber. Parking is free and super-easy, but reservations are highly recommended -- especially for weekend visits. My only gripe was the tightness of the space, which makes intimate conversation a bit challenging and the tables a bit crowded -- especially when you order a variety of plates. But if you can manage to visit on a quiet weeknight, The One will deliver a wonderful tapas meal that will have you planning a return visit before you pick up the check.

We've had dinner at the portrait gallery before and were pretty impressed with the food. We figured…read morelunch here would be just as good...wrong. The quality was just not there. The burgers had that pre cooked microwave bacon and the "famous fries" were just curly wedges you can get at any college bar. That was a whopping 6 dollars for an addition of truffle mayo and pre shredded Parmesan. The lunch menu only has burgers and tacos. If you're gunna do all this to take away from your regular dining experience you may as well not do a lunch menu at all. I started reading other reviews and apparently this place has the same menu dinner and lunch. Seems like theft to allow the previous reviews and menu to be online. Only to serve people mediocre store bought tacos and burgers.

I made a reservation for Christmas Eve a few weeks before Christmas. It was not blocked off on their calendar. I even received a text the day before confirming the reservation. When we showed up on Christmas Eve, there was a sign that said the restaurant was closed! They left a family of 6, with 2 little kids, scrambling on Christmas Eve. Now of course it is their right to close on Christmas Eve, but they should have managed their reservation system and blocked off that day. I do not recommend Portrait Gallery, and they have now lost a customer for their poor managing and service.
