We had an issue with some of our older wiring and a circuit that went out. Unfortunately, our laundry room was out of commission. Shok came out and inspected and we scheduled a repair. Told us they'd be there one day and ended up re-scheduling on us putting us out for a few more days. Due to the cancellation, they were nice enough to come out on a weekend and then say told us they would credit us... but not on the project they were working on, but a different project. We scheduled the second project and they canceled again on us due to illness. So I decided to go with somebody else. Lost the "credit" that they were going to give us because we didn't do the second project with them. I'm giving them 3 stars because they got the work done. We randomly had power go out in multiple parts of the house due to repeated circuit trips one day, and found Shok Electric on Yelp - can now confirm all the 5 star reviews for Claudia and David! Things I appreciated: 1) Easy scheduling: Claudia couldn't fit us in the same afternoon, but committed to having someone come out early the next morning. She gave a ~30 min time window when we could expect David at our house and followed up with a call to let us know he was on his way. 2) Great service: David was super patient with my many questions and did a thorough check up on the circuit boxes, the voltage on the outlets, etc. He didn't identify any addressable issues (which was a relief!), but explained what to look out for next time. As someone who's a total amateur with things like this, I appreciated that he did a thorough inspection but also didn't push any repairs we didn't need. 3) Waived consultation fee: Since we didn't need any work done this time, David waived the reasonable consultation fee even though we would have happily paid it for the time he spent checking things up & helping us understand the issue! So nice to find a local company that's clearly committed to building long term relationships and doing right by their customers. Woke up on a Sunday morning a few days before Thanksgiving and my entire home was experience electrical issues. I did everything I could to diagnose the issue myself but in the end I decided I needed to find an electrician on a Sunday morning. Not an easy task. The first few electricians I called were highly rated on Yelp. None worked on Sundays even the ones who claimed to be open 24/7. The soonest availability they had was Tuesday and Wednesday. Not a great timetable considering that my hot water heater, washer, oven and internet were not receiving power but a few lights were. I called Shok Electric as they were located in the San Fernando Valley and I knew they could be at my home quickly. A woman answered the phone and was extremely friendly, detailed oriented and took all of my information down. She told me that an electrician would be at my home within the hour, on a Sunday morning a few days before Thanksgiving! David arrived promptly within the hour and began to diagnose our issue. He looked at our electrical box, our sub panel and determined that the issue was a city issue. Shok Electric was more than fair with their fee and provided an exceptional value to us as this was an emergency call. David was so friendly, personable and took the time to show me what the issue was on his multimeter.
