A tenant an issue with an old outlet that was on the outside of the house. The outlet had been there before the GFCI outlets were required and there was a short due to the tenant plugging their EV to charge during those heavy rains in November that caused the outlet to stop working and fried the tenant's charger. Fortunately there wasn't any electric fire or shorts at the house's electric panel. My brother put out a bid on Yelp to find a capable electrician who could replace it at a reasonable cost and we decided on taking a shot with J Powers Electric. They showed up at the time of the appointment which is a big plus in my book and they gave me an estimated time of completion barring any unforeseen complications. The current outlet was replaced with a brand new GFCI outlet with an in use weather cover and everything went smoothly and quickly. I'll definitely put J Powers Electric on my list of electricians to reach out to get bids for any other electric related needs I may have in the future. read more

We had a crisis situation in my home (which is approaching 100 years old). I saw that my seven year old stick a Bobbi pin in her television outlet. Then somehow our breaker panel was sparking and catching on fire - the breaker was no longer tripping. Half of the electricity in our home was out. I reached out to J Powers Electric via yelp and they helped me every step of the way through out the entire weekend until they could help me on Monday morning. The first part of this that I truly appreciated was that I wasn't dismissed and avoided before paying, but that I was treated with compassion during a very scary situation. They gave me sound instructions and probably kept my family safe from a fire. When they arrived on Monday morning, they were on time and communicated well and didn't leave us waiting around all day. A full crew arrived, they were professional and professionally dressed. They recognized the problem within five minutes, gave us a fair price, and resolved the issue within about an hour's time and payment was easy peasy. Honest, quick, and reasonably priced! I had a problem with an outlet giving off a burning smell and warm to the touch. I gave them a call and they arrived the next day. Powers, but I did appreciate four things. 1) He came and evaluated our needs on the same day. 2( He actually talked me out of upgrading the electrical panel to 200Watts which I had assumed was a $4K solution (I have been quoted $4500) and offered a $1350 solution, two dedicated circuits. 3) The quote was delivered via a text message link. 4) He came in a very nice truck with the company info on the side. It inspires confidence. A few days later I asked him to quote the upgraded panel. His quote was $3.5K and it was very detailed. I always like a detailed quote. He was able to diagnose some tricky issues with my home's wiring/circuits (lights blinking/cutting out, appliances shutting off) and propose excellent, long term solutions. Throughout the process, Joel made sure to keep me informed if what he was doing and why it was important. He took the effort to actually show me what was wrong and explain what needed to be done.
