Aacckk as I was suddenly paying for hotel rooms. He immediately took my call and talked me off the ledge about the steps that needed to be taken. He was booked, but unasked he visited the house the next morning at 7a to do an assessment and sent me detailed photos of what needed to be done. He got the work done promptly and sent Martin to the site to wait for the inspector - who arrived early as did Martin thank heavens! Frank's service was not simply about executing on the fixes. I don't leave reviews until enough time has passed to see if the work stood up and experience follow up service. Power Up is excellent. I hired them to rewire two homes. The work always passed inspection. Their communication starts with a walk through each day before work giving me a chance to ask questions and clarify parts of the project. I'm so thrilled with the work that Frank and his team did on my house recently. After a walkthrough where I described our needs, and concerns with the state of the wiring at our house, Frank accomplished the goals that I had in mind, and smartly set up junction boxes in anticipation of future plans that we have (based on our initial conversations during the walkthrough). Frank has the spirit of a designer and artist, as well as the technical knowhow to bring our desires into being. (Backstory - I had another electrician come out for the same job initially, and gave them the same walkthrough - this guy actually kept suggesting the use of solar lights (what the heck?!) for some of my needs, and made other suggestions implying he really didn't want to actually do the work - then pretty much never followed up with a quote - so I can't say if the price was more or less than expected) For me, though, Frank and Power Up Electric were well worth the cost - which I felt was quite reasonable anyway. They were excellent with masking, social distancing, and keeping the work areas neat. They were very careful with the installation of a pendant light that I wanted put up. I feel like making another list of things we want to do so that he can come back and work his magic! The truth is I should've filed a police report and claim with the Better Business Bureau but I had a newborn and two toddlers and was renovating a house. Gabriel Chan came to pick up the remainder of his payment and when I told him I couldn't find the contract and asked how much I owed him he presented a document that he had clearly doctored up and added $1000 to. I had several electrical issues in my 70 year old house, and a wish list of things I wanted done, including installing a sconce, porch light, doorbell button, and two sets of track lights for two rooms. I cannot stress how much I really love these guys. It is always dangerous to revisit anything that was perfect for fear perfection won't be achieved, yet I achieved perfection for a second time with Power Up who had done major work for me previously when I converted a room into a home office. I digress: one night, apropos of nothing, a part of my home electric stopped working. The refrigerator wouldn't run, an electrical circuit wouldn't work and I was contemplating losing everything in my freezer/refrigerator, but found a working plug and ran it through extension, so I just had a problem and called an emergency electrician to come do the work. I didn't understand a word of what he said, but he said he had rigged something and it ought to hold out It was a thousand bucks (well earned -- he was under the house for three days) and I found out (although his explanations were impossible for a lay person to understand) that my house, originally built in 1947, and improved upon several times had some of the original wiring which wasn't serving well and some new that wasn't working well and it would probably hold up, unless it didn't then all bets were off. I offered him a chance to bid on the full repair, and he came over, kept talking, and wasn't heard from again. So I wrote Frank and the Power Up team who had done a remarkable job previously (see my other review). Best thing I ever did. It wasn't cheap, but my whole house was brought up to code and I have every reason to believe my biggest electrical problem here may be a burnt-out bulb. Thorough -- he brought a crew of 4 and it was about ten days of work, did everything to perfection -- installed two new big TVs, one in a room that had never been wired for TV, rewired everything, put a new hood in over the grill (advising me on how to get the right one), made everything invisible. But the real kicker, beyond them always showing up on time, always walking me through the days work and the work remaining (it's a very noisy process so I was, to be honest, losing my mind) cleaning up every day -- laying ground cover everyplace. But I forgot the real kicker -- they see this through -- they have come over three times since completion to help me figure out some of the stuff, to get to a(n outdoor motion sensing) light that got overlooked in the original bid, charging me only for the fixture itself, putting in a ring doorbell (which I decided to do midway through the work) and seeing every aspect through. Frank has said that he's basically on call for any issues for a year, and he's one of the few people I totally believe will see that through. Hopefully, I won't need him again (nice guy, though, I'll miss him), but I KNOW without a doubt, that if I do, he'll be here. This is electrical work, though, and I'm a dunce and don't want any surprises with it. I will be using him again to complete a room here, but I wouldn't hesitate to call him again no matter what. With electrical you get what you pay for, and I feel very, very satisfied that I was able to return to Power Up. (And God laughed -- the day after they finished, we had a lighting strike and power surge which froze my router completely -- Frank was out after I replaced the router to make sure everything was taken care of. Frank came with Miguel to help solve some electrical wiring issues in our townhome. We have a few 4-way switch configurations that the builder had not wired correctly which he solved without any issues, and this was with including smart switches that were not originally made to accommodate 4-way switch patterns, but was successful by using a traditional switch as the 3rd switch. We also had a nonfunctioning switch/recessed light in the upstairs master bedroom which he was able to access our attic and figure out that once again the builder had not completely finished the wiring. He was able to solve things that a general contractor or handyman couldn't figure out. We are so thankful for him! He was very good in explaining the issues and what he did to solve them. He was really friendly, honest, and overall very helpful. Prices are competitive. The hourly rate seems to be fairly similar and within the ballpark of other quotes that I've received with other local electricians. And for someone like Frank, it was worth it. read more

I found these guys on Angie's list, where they have a very high rating...It made no sense when I saw their yelp rating and now that I've used them, I decided to post here instead of Angie's list to make this rating a bit more accurate. I have a very old home that was exhibiting some very strange electrical issues. Gabriel came out same day for me *(it was 95 degrees and my main breaker kept blowing, which = no AC) I was in a panic to get the AC going again. I know that my property is very old and will eventually need full overhaul.. any homeowner in that position knows it's hard to get an honest opinion as every service tech sees a huge potential job that they would prefer to pitch over a piecemeal solution. I also really appreciated that we could use MMS picture texts to get an idea of the equipment demand prior to his arrival... that saves a LOT of time when you live way up in the hills like I do! Gabriel pinpointed the problem quickly and even located and installed a very rare part for me same day! I will definitely use him for the panel and meter upgrade in the future, but I am a very happy camper that he fixed my immediate issue quickly and gave me the honest truth about what upgrading would entail while still fixing the issue in a safe, compliant manner. Found Gabriel on Angie's List and he was as great as advertised. I had a breaker that was on the fritz and needed it looked at ASAP because some pretty crucial electrical appliances are connected to said breaker. I called him in the afternoon on Wednesday, he came at 9am on Thursday...and he came ready. He was quick with his troubleshooting and got to the problem super fast...and although there were some complications, he came up with a very clever solution that involved very little work. We really couldn't be happier with our new lights and our experience with Gabriel and Frank over at Power Up. We had recessed lighting installed in our living room, moved a chandelier, had track lighting installed in our hallway, and a fan installed in a bedroom. During our initial estimate, Frank took the time to go over every single detail of installation and placement of our new lights and recommended ways we could save money and get the best bang for our buck.
