They have two seating areas, one for hibachi and one for sushi. Note: There is usually a wait for the hibachi side. The sushi rolls are always delicious. We like to try the different varieties. Next time we plan on trying the hibachi. The service was great. The soup can be very hot so let it cool down a little first or ouch! But it is worth the wait because it tastes amazing. I believe my favorite roll so far is the coconut shrimp. Although it's hard to decide. The parking lot could use sone work but hey, if it means they don't go up in the price I'll choose the lumpy gravelly parking lot... I highly recommend this place! read more

Been here many times and I would say it is one of the better restaurants that serves sushi in Mobile. They have hibachi/teppanyaki & sushi. Take note, it does take a while for your sushi order to arrive because they only have one or two people behind the bar to prepare everything. My family took me out for my birthday dinner Sunday evening. It was my first time ever having Hibachi. Wow! I'm hooked! Everybody was so nice and helpful (I'm in a wheelchair). Seen a lot of different reviews so let's get it strait. Food was great and I had no problem with it. Tasty and had LOTS of it. We ended up having a bunch of extras to take for leftovers. Some people said they had problems with food poisoning however me and nobody in my party of 11 got food poisoning either. Even when looking around the restaurant I saw no one that seemed bothered either. Service was great and they were very attentive. The hibachi chef was great and very interactive and made it into an even better time. Nice place there also with lots of different areas that I sadly didn't get to explore into but seems like there is plenty of space that I don't see there being a need for reservations but always check with them just in case if concerned. read more

We NEVER got to experience any part of the Shogun experience because we were NEVER even SEATED! We had a group of 10 people who were visiting someone who is in the ICU at Providence USA Hospital, who were starving after being there from 8:30am till 6:30pm. The restaurant was extremely busy, and we were told we would have a 30 to 40 minutes wait time, which we were all okay with. However, 40 minutes became an 70 minutes, so we were naturally already frustrated. We had asked when we'd be seated 45 minutes into the waiting process, and we were told we would be next. Well, 2 groups of 5 and another couple were seated who had come AFTER us, and that broke the camel's back for us. We confronted the owner/manager, and he acted unconcerned about our issues. We explained how he was about to lose a $500 bill not including the tips for his workers, and he had nothing to say. Needless to say, after 80 minutes of still not being seated, we left in ANGER. Shogun's in Mobile will NEVER get any of our business AGAIN! The bar and table areas are meh...the Hibachi area looks cool and I always hear people laughing and having fun over there. Food: I always get the hibachi ribeye. The hubs has been dying to come here for months, so finally we went. Definitely lived up to all the positive things that we've heard! We went on a Wednesday night relatively early (a pretty random day to get hibachi) but was seated immediately and didn't have a whole lot of waiting which was nice. I imagine that this place must be super busy on the weekends, though. Portion sizes are HUGE! Hibachi is notoriously pricey, but they do have a meal for two that has either 1) chicken, shrimp and steak OR 2) filet & shrimp for $50. Based on serving size, this is a steal ( it was enough for 2 left over meals for me ). Everything was delicious, cooked to perfection. I recommend trying the Tsing Tao beer, it's a similar taste to a Heineken. Our chef definitely had some tricks up his sleeve and a good sense of humor, which the whole table could appreciate. This is one of the best hibachi restaurants in MOBtown. You get soooo much for your money and they always put on a good show. Hubs and I ordered the Geisha dinner which is filet mignon and shrimp. It comes with fried rice, noodles, veggies, and all the yum yum sauce you could want. The filet, we ordered medium, and it was cooked delicious. The shrimp were a nice large size and not over cooked. I could definitely just kept eating the rice, because it was delicious but I was trying to save room for my protein . It super packed tonight, as we went on a Saturday night. 1. The food wasn't worth the money. I had a spicy tuna roll. The tuna was a paste not a slice/chunk. The wontons were dry to the point they were brittle and crunchy. No tofu in the miso soup and there were hard pieces of something in my soup. The pieces of eel in the roll were about half the size of my pinky nail and it tasted like trash. 2. The service wasn't worth the money. They have the restaurant split into a sushi side and hibachi side which is pretty standard. So, the sushi side of the restaurant was literally empty. After 20mins of waiting I brought the menu with the food order to the server... I also had to request for my drink to be refilled each time which isn't a big deal unless they are giggling and laughing with other coworkers (who are are probably also not working) and forgetting to bring your food out. 3. Just don't. I've had better sushi from Walmart. My five year old could roll a tighter sushi roll. I am all for cucumber, but both of the rolls we ordered had a large piece of cucumber that outshined all the other ingredients and not is a delightful way. Don't get me started on the fried rice with frozen vegetable melody I mean come on. The quality of the food is closer to a Chinese buffet than what I expect from a Japanese Steakhouse. Do yourself a favor and drive a quarter mile down the road to Bamboo their sushi is spot on. You won't regret it. Today I ventured out and order the hibachi vegetable and my dad got the chicken. Both meals were good.. a little on the greasy side which is usually the case with hibachi meals. Again, very large portions. The lunch hibachi meal comes with noodles, fried rice and your choice of either soup or salad. I still love this place! You get tons of food and most of the time the hibachi shows are good as well. I love their sushi too. For $50.00 plus drinks and tax my husband and I can eat about 3 meals between what we eat there and the left overs. The noodles were a little sweet the last couple of times I have been, and there is usually a 10-20 wait to be seated and a wait for them to start the grill.
