No-one from the staff greeted me; no-one offered to help. Two women - salespeople? - were chatting at the counter. Within 8 or 10 minutes I found two pairs of shoes, and brought them to the counter and asked for my size. Again, no-one offered to help me. One of the women did get one of these pairs, but said she didn't have the other. She handed me the shoebox,and then started to pull back the mat from the front door. As I put one shoe on, she (wordlessly) turned off the internal store lights. I guess this was my hint to get out - that they were closing. I left. I was disappointed - I had really wanted and needed to get some new Dansko clogs that are my everyday walking shoes. Sadly - giving up on a local store is difficult - I won't return. I understand that retail business is difficult and competitive, but Heller's doesn't seem to understand this. I guess Heller's can do without business - at least my business. At any rate, I'll go back to Harry's Shoes on Manhattan's Upper West Side, where they're downright eager to help people, and don't close shop until all customers are finished with their transactions.

I was in and out with exactly what I needed for a FRACTION of the cost of the same items at Nordstrom and exceptional quality in less than 20 minutes. For snow pants, snow boots, and mitten clips unpaid $191. Snow boots at Nordstrom were $100, snow pants by Patagonia were $129. Also, nowhere else in northern Westchester had toddler sizes for snow pants. Literally checked tens of stores. Squires was fully stocked. Also, the two men running the shop were incredibly helpful. And the beautiful dog Campbell who roams the shop? I mean, come on. I live for a shop dog.
