Yeahhh NO. The only thing that bought me to this store was the GIANT liquidation sale they where having over the weekend my first impressions where that the saleswoman where very curt and unfriendly they didnt have any professionalism to them and where definately not that helpful. However the only thing that saved my trips here was the HUGE sale I bought 4 sets of shoes and it was a fantastic deal. The only way I will shop for shoes if I ever need any would be via a liquidation sale. But now I am set for a whilst.This store is not going out of business as previously thought. Heller's. The shoe store I've been frequenting for over 30 years for myself and my kids. Until today, April 16, 2014. I entered the store at about 5:40. There were no other customers there. No-one from the staff greeted me; no-one offered to help. Two women - salespeople? - were chatting at the counter. Within 8 or 10 minutes I found two pairs of shoes, and brought them to the counter and asked for my size. Again, no-one offered to help me. One of the women did get one of these pairs, but said she didn't have the other. She handed me the shoebox,and then started to pull back the mat from the front door. As I put one shoe on, she (wordlessly) turned off the internal store lights. I guess this was my hint to get out - that they were closing. I left. I was disappointed - I had really wanted and needed to get some new Dansko clogs that are my everyday walking shoes. Sadly - giving up on a local store is difficult - I won't return. I understand that retail business is difficult and competitive, but Heller's doesn't seem to understand this. I guess Heller's can do without business - at least my business. At any rate, I'll go back to Harry's Shoes on Manhattan's Upper West Side, where they're downright eager to help people, and don't close shop until all customers are finished with their transactions. read more

I have been shopping at Heller's since I was a child. They carry a great selection of brands - from comfy shoes to fashionable. The service there is great but it is not a cheap shoe store. read more

The shoe selection was okay and bought a pair of athletic shoes but their sales staff and customer service was very poor.

Such a shame. I noticed that the older posts were "positive" reviews, while the more recent ones are uniformly negative. I remember being in Heller's a few years ago during one of their sales and had the BEST experience. The salesman was an "old fashioned" shoe salesman who measured my feet, brought me alternative shoes to consider if they didn't have my size in a requested pair and was extremely helpful. I think I walked out of there with 3-4 pairs of shoes at least (if not five). More recently, I have found the sales people to be downright rude and see that I'm not the only one. What a shame - I really WANT to shop local, but why should I when I can find better prices (and often better service) online? read more

I have spent many hundreds of dollars at Heller's but I won't be going back. I went there yesterday to buy a pair of clogs. I was wearing some that I liked and showed them to a salesperson, saying I wanted a similar pair in brown. She told me they don't carry that style and diffidently pointed to a few pairs of loafers that came in brown. She then went back to chatting with her coworker. I wandered the store a bit more and found a display against one wall of clogs in the exact style I was looking for. But by that time I was so turned off by the salesperson's lack of interest that I left. I honestly don't see how this store stays in business. read more

My mom and I have been shopping at Hellers for years both in Mt Kisco and Pleasantville. Today we went in to buy boots and it was a great experience as always. Jeny helped us and was friendly and patient as we selected several pairs of boots in all different styles and sizes. She made helpful suggestions and as I said was very patient with my indecisiveness. We left very satisfied with 2 pairs of boots! read more

I was very disappointed with the customer service at this location. I bought a $130+ pair of cougar boots that said they would be waterproof. They were not, at all. When I tried to take the shoes back after less than a week, the sales girl told me because I had worn them they wouldn't take them back. I will say that I then contacted a manager at the Pleasantville Heller's location and she was extremely helpful. I would definitely not go back to this store. I usually buy boots from REI, where they stand behind their products and their sales people are usually very kind and friendly. read more

This is the worst experience I have ever had in any business and I feel like I have just been scammed. I'm in shock. We purchased $100 shoes at Heller's in December, and almost right away the shoes began to come apart. We brought them back, we were sent away because there was no manager present that day and they do not give refunds. Since the shoes would have to be sent out and they were bought for work, we waited another week or so before bringing them back so the issue could be addressed. Again, we were told refunds are never given as part of store policy and that they would have to send them to the shoemakers for repair. It would take 12 weeks. Fast forward to 4 months later and we have called and called to no avail. They didn't even know what I was talking about when I FINALLY reached someone on the phone. They said they'd call back and then never returned our calls. The pleasantville location where we purchased the shoes has since closed, and the amount Kisco location has no news for us. We still have our receipt! We still have the paperwork showing we gave them the shoes to send out! And yet the shoes are nowhere and no one has answers for us. And STILL no refund in sight. Just non answers and getting hung up on when I demand answers. It is as if we just gave away our money to them for nothing. I am incensed and I don't even know what my recourse is. Stay away from this business. Nothing they have to sell is worth this experience. read more

The customer service is horrible and no longer any good shoes or sales...I saw the sales girl be rude to a Spanish customer- even going so far as to say she would call the cops on the customer- who was only asking why the sales girl told her the item was $100 instead of $50! Even the manager was rude and said she too would call the cops ( she said she knew the story and took sides with the rude worker! )???We didn't see her even look at the price but to say she was calling the cops on her and "dismiss" the Spanish customer- was rude- we will never shop there again if that's how they treat people! No wonder they are downsizing! read more

My mother and I have been shopping at Hellers in Mount Kisco since the 1970's. Now, we both have foot problems, and went to Hellers expecting to spend good money on shoes. I will happily pay up to $200 for shoes that fit well. Hellers carries the brands I like, and we both quickly found shoes we wanted to try on. But alas, no salesperson approached us offering help. We eventually got a salesperson's attention and she asked what size we need. I said I needed to have my size checked. She acted like it was not in her job description to size my feet. She reluctantly sized one foot. I mentioned that I wanted her to size the other foot, and she seemed not to realize that I had two feet. When my mother and I tried on the shoes, none of the three unoccupied salespeople asked how they felt or offered any suggestions. When I asked what other shoes she thought I might like, she said the ones I was trying on were the only ones in the store that would fit me. My mother was struggling to get the peds on because of arthritis. I had to offer to help her, while the ignorant shopgirl stood idly staring. By now you are probably assuming that my mother and I must have been rude or foul-smelling to get this kind of treatment. But we are actually very pleasant people. Our mistake, I suppose, was entering the store half an hour before closing time! The salespeople in Hellers do not appear to care whether the store makes any money, whether customers are satisfied, or whether anyone comes back. I certainly will not shop there any more. I will buy my shoes at Randall's in Westfield, NJ. read more

Bought a pair of Rockport shoes at a steal during liquidation sales. There was one saleswoman who was busy handling all the customers but she was very friendly, professional and efficient. I did not have the bad experience others have complained about. I would return again. read more

Heller's is the go to place for me because my feet are a little problematic and I like to wear beautiful, stylish shoes. As mentioned in the previous post, a little on the high side, but where else, other than Saxon Shoes in Richmond, Virginia can you get pretty shoes that feel great. read more
