I have short coats. And I have long coats- all for NY cold. But I desperately needed a long, down,…read moreheavy duty puffer coat to save me for Canada's -° weather. We've seriously braved Québec's -25° two Decembers ago. So much so, when we came back to NY, hubs and I laughed because once you experience that type of bone-chilling weather, you're set for anything. And visiting Montréal consecutively in back-to-back winters for 3 years now, their Winters are still cold- but not Québec cold. So what does it boil down to? A warm AF all-around bitchin coat. I set my mind up to visit Nordstrom at The Westchester, but before I even got to Aritzia (on the 2nd floor), their long puffer display coats caught my eye. Aritzia has an industrial type feel- but the warm lighting, made the store feel cozy. I was so caught up in finding a coat, I didn't even check if there's a men's section. Greeting was nice and Aiesha(?) was helpful. The shop carries their own in-house brands as well as other labels including Levi's and so many others. I'll be honest, I asked her to hold a long puffer coat I picked out because quite frankly-I didn't want to spend more than $200 on a coat. Yet considering their quality and brand- I squeamishly felt their $398.00 (excluding tax) price tag went hand in hand. However, having said that, I also wanted to look elsewhere and see if I can find a coat for a fraction of what Aritzia's coats cost- then perhaps circle back and come back here. Sure enough, I didn't see anything I liked at Nordstrom. So Aritzia was it. I know all down long coats aren't created equal. Plus I love a specific pop collar or cowl-style that suits with my style. Hubs dished out the $431 for my long yellow down coat- but it's so worth it! The only way I see this is that coats are going to be pricey if you're looking at good quality ones. Plus this is an investment for years to come. I think I'm already hooked!

Even though LL Bean is a company which supports DRUMPF, I still like shopping here because the…read moreproducts they make are high quality, look very good, have a very wide range, and because the store has a great policy when it comes to repairs, returns, and whatever your needs might be. Ridge hill is really inaccessable for most people, but I took a cab from Yonkers station so that made it a lot easier (it is technically possible to walk here from somewhere like Bronxville station, but will take about 45 minutes). After visiting the cheesecake factory, I popped in here and holy balls is this place big. I can totally understand why they don't have a store in Manhattan: to fit even half of their products into the average store size in the city would be impossible. They have kayaks and camping tents and stuff like that here, so a large space is absolutely necessary. I think that coming to the store, especially a store like LL Bean, can be superfluous in some ways in 2018, considering that everything that can be bought in this store can be bought online, and also considering that they're almost always sold out of bean boots, so the fastest way to get them would be to shop for them online. That said, for first time buyers, it may be a good idea to come to the store directly first before you become more of an online shopper. Bean boots in particular can be a little tricky, because they run kind of big, and coming into the store to try them on can be a big help. This LLB was especially helpful with my transaction, since I was shopping for shoes for my mom and got a size too big. I wound up losing my receipt, but luckily LLB was able to pull my info from the system based on my zip and my name, and told me I could bring the shoes into the store anytime for an exchange, or even a refund if I wanted. (FWIW, my mom wears a 38, which translates into a womens size 7- I bought a 6). Hats off to LLB.
