Found this place because it's one of the stops on the "Brewhop Trolley" ...probably wouldn't have stopped in here otherwise. I'm glad we did though! They have a good selection of local Longmont brews featured in the back room of a running shoe store. Taproom wasn't huge by any means but there was enough space to spread out and games to play on all of the tables. Another great dog-friendly spot. They served pretzels and pizza as well although we didn't try them. TIP: If you run a 1/2 mile, your beer will be priced according to your time... 3 minutes = 3 dollars

My training partner and I traveled from Kentucky to Colorado to train over parts of the summer in 2018. We caught word of this store and had to come and see what they are all about. The service and help at this store is some of the best you'll ever find. As well as their knowledge needed to properly operate a running store and selling running equipment. They also went out of their way to help us participate in the 800m race challenge that they have, since we were unable to make their large event for it. We were both lucky enough to rank high in the top 800m time list! 10/10 would come here again to hang out and receive gear from this running company!!

The young couple who opened this place have done a great job of creating a nice place to have some tasty local beers at very reasonable prices. They have specials, like $1 off pints on Mondays. They also host fun runs for runners (and sell running shoes there, too, thus the name Shoes & Brews :) ). They have done a beautiful job with the space - there's a great story behind the gorgeous wood bar. They have pretzels & chips for purchase. Only tip I would give would be to dim the lighting a bit. It was a bit bright in there the night we were there last. Also, they seem to close early - we stopped by to have a beer 45 minutes before closing time and they were already closed for the night. Overall, a great job for some fresh new beer tasting room owners. It's a neat spot. Can't wait to get back to try some more great local brews.

We headed in to the brewery. I had Moondoor Dunkel because I love the dark beers. It was a nice Dunkel. The taproom space was very loud. There is no sound dampening at all so it was really hard to carry on a conversation. It was too cold and drizzly to sit outside as we would have moved otherwise. We sat near the door to the brewhouse. There were employees periodically entering and exiting the door. Whenever that happened there was a very unpleasant waft of off smell. It did not smell like wort or fermentation but more methane like. We finished our beers and headed out.

Unfortunately, this visit was completely different. The service was extremely disappointing from start to finish. We waited about 20 minutes just for drinks and eventually had to go up to the bar ourselves. When we asked about it, the bartender simply said, "I'm working on it," which was frustrating given how long we had already been waiting. There were 4 tales in the restaurant and like 8 employees Things did not improve from there. Our food came out very slowly and one of the meals had to be sent back. We ended up having to go to the bar multiple times, including for a to go box and even to get our check, because no one was checking on our table. To make matters worse, the menu states that guests are asked to limit their visit to 90 minutes. However, due to the slow and inattentive service, we were there for nearly two hours through no fault of our own. There also used to be a sense of customer service here, which seems to have changed. To top it off, gratuity was automatically added without it being mentioned or explained. That felt especially inappropriate considering we ended up doing a large portion of the service ourselves. It's like they figured they were getting auti gratuity so didn't provide any service Really disappointing experience overall. Not sure what changed, but this was a huge step down from our previous visit.

We had tried several of their beers in the past, and really enjoyed them. However, when we arrived at the brewery, they happened to be closed. After being disappointed for a moment, we, there were four of us, decided to stop at a brewery down the street. Luckily enough, this brewery just happened to be Bootstrap. As you can see from my 5 star rating, I really liked Bootstrap. Visiting at that specific time seemed meant to be because while sitting outside at their outdoor patio, we saw a beautiful double rainbow !! Some of the things that I liked about Bootstrap was the friendly staff!! They were very welcoming and gave us tips about where to go in Colorado. Also, there brewery was large with plenty of tables and a stage for live music, open mic nights and karaoke. And of course their beer was delicious with a wide selection to suit everyone's tastes.

Then more time passed and they closed the Niwot when and now only the Longmont location remains. Recently I had a beer from Bootstrap. It was the Chillax, a Pineapple Golden Ale. I thought it was alright but I'm not necessarily convinced I'm wildly in love with Pineapple beers. Just a little too sweet but I wanted to challenge myself on this occasion and I thought it was just fair. But as I said I have been to Bootstrap before... a few times actually and I have a lot more enthusiasm for their chile beer or their cherry ginger beer. So if you can get a hold of those definitely do. They are older beer releases and at the time I didn't see them but I'd definitely keep your eyes out for those!
