The Fix Kicks - Where the Sneaker Game Feels Like Home…read more I still remember the first time I stepped into The Fix Kicks in Santa Clara it was like walking into sneaker heaven. I opened that door and boom instant chills. I was surrounded by walls full of heat: Jordan 1s, Yeezys, Dunks, pairs I'd only ever seen on Instagram. Then I turned the corner and saw the Funko Pop wall, and I swear, it felt like I was in the middle of a dream. But here's where the story gets even better. It wasn't just the shoes or the collectibles it was the energy. The vibes. The people behind the counter weren't just employees they were sneakerheads like me. They greeted me like I'd been coming there for years, asked me what I was into, chopped it up with me like we were homies. From that very first visit, I knew this wasn't your average shop. This was family. Since then, I've bought kicks, sold pairs, and each time I leave, I walk out with a smile. Not just because of the shoes but because of how I was treated. They take care of you at The Fix Kicks. They're real ones. Fair prices, honest deals, no funny business just a team that truly loves what they do and puts their heart into every interaction. It's rare to find a spot like this. They've created more than just a store they've built a community. A place where sneaker culture is alive, respected, and celebrated. So if no one's told y'all yet: Fix Kicks, I'm giving you your flowers today. Thank you for the good vibes, the unforgettable experiences, and for always holding it down for sneaker lovers like me. Much love to the whole team y'all are legends.

So I advise you not to sell to them either. Honestly if you wanna buy or sell sneakers I prefer a better sneaker shop 3 miles away from this place which is called Sole Priority.

The shoe selection is carefully curated - and by that I mean that you'll only find higher-quality footwear, but also that your selections are going to be limited. For the men's shoes, there very limited choices for dress shoes, needed for my work, and I'm on my feel for a lot of the day. In fact, on a recent trip there really only was one pair of Eccos that would have worked. There are more casual, non-athletic men's shoes, and a larger selection of sneakers like Hoka. They have an okay rewards program - you get a point for every buck you spend, and when you accumulate 300 points then you get $20 off your next purchase. My first visit with Oliver was awesome. I redid the analysis, and he brought out three pairs for me to try and sold me on custom insoles. He stayed attentive the whole time, even while managing a growing waitlist. I left with the insoles, a pair of ASICS GT-2000s, and socks he picked out, which I'm still training in a month later. I brought my wife back for the same experience. Misha took great care of her concerns and was extremely patient even as the line built up near closing time. My wife left happy with a pair of Nike Structures. I've also visited the Campbell and Sunnyvale stores. They were pushing the customer appreciation month promo, and it worked on me. I'm now a VIP member at the highest tier. Shoutout to Chris in Campbell and Christopher in Sunnyvale for helping me when I was struggling to find a second pair for my rotation. Overall, it's been a consistent experience... until today. I came back to this location for an exchange, and the greeting was a flat, monotone "Hi, welcome in." It wasn't busy, maybe 3-4 customers at most. A staff member helped me within a few minutes but seemed unhappy from the start. I was looking for a specific shoe in my size that I'd seen on their website. I was told it didn't come in my size, but I had to show them on their own tablet that it did. I explained I was in no rush and was fine ordering it online. While I waited to try a pair on, another staff member asked if I'd been helped, which I appreciated, though even that came with some attitude. I tried the shoe on, but honestly felt like I needed to finish up and get out as fast as possible. Maybe they were short-staffed or having a bad day. I don't know. The exchange was completed with a very unenthusiastic thank you and goodbye. Today was a miss, but I'll give it another shot next time.

At first, the gait analysis and fitting felt gimmicky, but since I was playing with his money, I went through with it. I discovered, not surprisingly, that I needed a stability shoe. The staff brought out several styles in more than one size. I'm a little self-conscious about the size of my feet relative to my height, so whenever possible, I don't take their advice to go up a half size. (Hint: it's not usually possible.) I was surprised by how willing the staff was to bring out multiple shoes until I found the right pair for me. Even though they almost always have several customers and sometimes have a line, the staff members always come back to check in, but not intrusively like restaurant wait staff who ask "How is everything?" after you've just taken a bite. The insoles may seem like a gimmick at first, and they will set you back an additional $120. Since they're going to make them anyway, you should put them in your selected shoes. Like me, you will be sold! They are worth it. They will make your feet feel even better in your shoes! Finally, there's the VIP program, which gives you 10% off all purchases as well as between 5 and 15% cash back, depending on your level of membership. Note the recommended number of shoes purchased when selecting a membership level to find the level that's most cost-effective for you.

This morning, I asked a gentleman at the Dollar Store if I can take a photo of his shoes. It looked very cool and comfortable. He said it is Hoka and he gave me the name of the store where he bought it: Footwear, etc (Willow Glen). They have a store in Los Gatos as well. In Willow Glen, they have that machine that measures pressure points of your feet. It helps identify challenges you may have with your feet as far as walking, comfort, etc. Sarah was very helpful. She brought me 5 different pairs of shoes and patiently helped me wear them, tying and untying the laces. I told her I can do it but she was very kind. She explained to me the different features of each pair of shoe until we were able to identified the top 2 choices. When testing the shoes (inside the store), I noticed that 2 pairs allowed me to walk normally without pain (which I have not experienced in the last 3 years or so). Even after my back (sciatica) surgery in December, I still feel discomfort and pain. With the Hoka shoes on, I felt my walk was so normal. And, for about $20 more than the New Balance, I am getting a very comfortable and reliable and very scientifically produced pair of shoes. On top of that, their designs are very cool and modern. Thank you so much for your help, Miss Sarah!
