My wife and I have been talking about getting an EV car for the last few years when it came time to replace her car. As a result, I wanted to ensure we have a safe place to charge it. Therefore, we needed a Level 2 charger. I talked to some EV owners, and they all recommended a NEMA 14-50, 50 amp outlet installed in the garage. Here comes Shock Tech 2. I used Yelp to ask him about a quote. He responded very quickly and asked for some information about the house. We talked about the location of the house, and he was able to give a quote based on the house and some pictures I sent regarding the panel, the path to the location, and the location itself. I liked this approach since I contacted other companies who, either, didn't respond or claimed they had no openings soon for a quote. I also liked how Shock Tech 2 kept in constant contact such as letting me know he is on the way. I've had companies in the past now show up at all after I took the time to take time off of work. From the start to finish, Jaime/Shock Tech was courteous, and professional. On the day of installation, he was very professional. Got some cloth to protect the floor. He asked if our pets were allowed in the basement or not so he was kind to close the basement door behind him. There was no mess and he ensured everything was clean afterward. Not to mention, he found an issue with my electrical panel which he fixed too. In the end, the quote was exactly what he asked. Compared to others, his quote was within the average price, but the quality was second to none. I had some quotes to add a bunch of, possibly, unnecessary wiring. His installation was simple and straight to the point. Also, he installed a breaker/emergency off switch next to the outlet, which was not mentioned in the other quotes. I requested a quote to replace the k&t on the second floor of my house. He messaged me asking where I was located, and I told him. He then proceeded to tell me that he Googled my house, and it would cost $15k to rewire my house and replace the panel. I told him that it was obvious that he didn't read my request because I only requested the 2nd floor to be done, and didn't need a new panel. The then said that it would be about $7-8K to do the 2nd floor. I was extremely disappointed because he didn't even bother to come out to my house to give me an estimate, which he could have easily done, because my house is ONE BLOCK from his business address according to his Yelp profile. I would never trust anyone who couldn't even be bothered to go out to a site to give an estimate, especially one he could walk to. Jaime has been great during our whole house remodel. He had to install an additional panel because we needed more amps due to the number of outlets and appliances being added. He identified everything that was needed and implemented it. He also put can lights in multiple rooms, in-cabinet and under-cabinet lightning in the kitchen and Butler's pantry, installed 7 ceiling fans, and a light lift in the foyer among other things.
