DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! SLOW!JIM & DIANE are RUDE! They moved our things in January 2017. My Husband is retired military and served for 21 years moving every 2-3 years. We have dealt with a lot of movers. Shively's was slow. It took 6 hours for them to move 13 items 6 miles and one item upstairs at the move-in location. (We've had our whole house packed onto a truck in the same amount of time with these exact same furniture items included and yes they were civilian movers not military members who moved us) Only three items were on the second floor of where we were living. All the other items were on the 1st floor and in a walk out basement ready to be taken out when they arrived and it took them 3 hours to load the items. Even though Diane wasn't the most personable on the phone and rushed to make the appointment and asked no questions except about the safe we needed moved. The reviews were overall good and the price comparably was good if they had not taken so long. So we decided to use them. -Diane never said they must be paid by check. Then lied to my Husband and said she told me. -Diane threatened to put a lien on our house if we don't pay the full 7 hours we got charged for. -Jim said F!?K You twice to my husband. -Jim smoked inside the truck with my couches inside of it. -When Jim was asked to not smoke in the truck with our furniture items inside he got a chip on his shoulder and was rude the majority of the day there after. -Jim threw cigarette butts in our yard. Mike picked them up for him because Jim refused to do so. -Jim smoked inside the truck where the furniture goes after it was emptied exhaling all smoke within the truck where all the blankets that get put on furniture are loaded. Two good things they did -Arrived on time -Didn't dent walls or break furniture I feel most of the blame lies in Diane. Had she gotten more detail about our items and knew the movers well enough then she could have told us these items would take them 6+hours and then we could have decided whether or not we wanted to use them . All Diane cared about was securing a job. No wonder they had the most open appointments of all the companies I called. Then Jim being very disrespectful of our things by smoking (which is a big deal since we have a newborn baby) and disrespectful to my husband is why they get a 1 star rating. I would give a zero if it was a choice. read more

We hired Shively's after we had several moving companies provide estimates (or not show up to provide estimates). Shively's had given us the most reasonable estimate. Well, I guess that estimate was incorrect, because when the guys showed up on a Saturday morning, in the middle of that heat wave where everyday felt like 100+ degrees, we were told that it would cost us "a lot more" because they'd have to take two trips. Kelly, the owner, called me almost immediately after we were told this and assured me that they would be able to get it done in one trip because she was going to get a second truck. Kelly arrived at our home to see, first hand, what we had to move and how incorrect the estimate was. She assured me that it would all be moved that day, in as many trips as needed, and at no additional cost to me. I was so overwhelmed and worried that it wasn't going to go as planned, that her kindness and understanding was an absolute gift at that point. We ended up having 7 guys (plus Kelly) at one point in the day, and two moving trucks. It took two trips and almost 11 hours to move (we have a home and a business). The guys were EXCELLENT. They didn't complain once, not about the mix up, the ridiculous things we had asked them to move, or the terrible heat, (Or even when one accidentally got punched in the eye by his nephew ... oops..) Every single person who helped us move was kind, funny, respectful, and did their job with a smile on their face. The move should have cost us at least double what we paid, and I can't thank Shively's enough for being genuine and a stand up business. Their customer service went above and beyond. On that day, even though we were aware they had other moving/packing jobs they were doing, we felt like we were their only clients- they gave us every single thing we needed without hesitation or complaint. I had a 5 star moving experience with Shively's Moving and Storage, a company based in Bethlehem, Pa. The customer service was excellent throughout the entire moving process. The initial coordination of the move was kind, positive, and beyond, emotionally supportive as I needed, for I had just completed a cross country move three months prior and was stressed with an additional move demand. The move plan was also instructive to ensure optimal transitioning of move for my sake, as well as, the moving team. There was commitment to meeting my moving maneuvers, as my timeline had complexities with multiple pickups and deadlines; There were efforts to coordinate the service when exactly needed to meet all involved expectations. The cost of the move was certainly reasonable, and I have extensive experience in moving, having moved myself and/or my children six times in the last two years, so I am aware of the spectrum of moving rate charges. The moving crew were friendly and professional, timely in their arrival and efficient in their process meeting expected move completion target timeline (even in the midst of non-optimal weather), and very competent, for they took true care in the delivery of my significant and diverse extent of personal valuables. PThis is our third move with Shively's in as many years. They have been great every move. They have been communicative about every aspect of the move, prompt, courteous and professional. They have gone above and beyond to help us as we have been down sizing a household every move, and have always required help packing family furniture for a trip out of Bethlehem. This time was no different. They arrived to pack an apartment full of belongings into boxes, and then load a uhaul so we could move mom to our home town to be closer to family. Once again, Shively rose to the task. They were helpful, responsive to our needs, packed efficiently and with an understanding of our needs for where things were, labeling boxes as they went. I'd use Shively's again, and recommend them to anyone needing quality moving assistance. My only hesitation was the mileage charge for travel from their office to our location. We were charged for travel time amounting in 16 miles, and because they sent two teams for each part - packing and loading - we were charged twice for travel, something we weren't charged by three different teams from another company out of state, who helped us move in our home town this summer when we moved from our home of 30 years to a smaller one story house. The cost of the travel time was close to 1/3 of the cost of the move. Just beware. read more

We just recently moved my father-in-law from his home of over 50 years to a senior living apartment. Not knowing the area, I asked for recommendations from the apartment management since they have obviously had many various movers in their work. They gave me a couple of names, and after calling Shively's, I had made my decision. Kelly had made it all feel simple, and hassle-free. Price estimate was right on target, so there were no surprises on cost. I thought pricing was very reasonable as well. Kelly from the office kept me updated before the move as well to make sure everything was good to go, and even confirmed again the day before. Shively's not only met our expectation, but I would say far exceeded. Mike and Malcolm arrived on time, and ready to work. They were sensitive to knowing it was a big emotional step in my father-in-laws life, and they made it a much smoother (and fun) day all around! They worked extremely well together, and involved us in every step along the way. When we got to the apartment building the dock was blocked, and they were extremely patient with having to back out and circle around a second time. I was referred by a friend who use to work with Shively's Moving and Storage Co. by the name of Stan. I contacted the office and explained what I wanted and what pieces of furniture I had and I was given an estimated price of my move. The ladies in the office were very easy to talk to and patient, professional and polite and they listened to all of my question and gave me accurate answers and I was not disappointed at all when it came time to move. I had everything ready by the time the two young men arrived and they worked well together and communicated respectfully to each other and to me at all times. They were all about business and No clowning around. If I could give them ten (10) stars, I would because the company as a whole are STARS!!!!! Our move was from Upper Bucks County to Emmaus, and in the process of leveraging a local self-storage facility, we saw the pile of Shively's cards at the front desk. The manager at the storage facility highly recommended them, and now that we've used their service we do as well. Their team was thorough, professional, and friendly- and the entire move process was amazing. These folks are moving pros, and it's evident when they packed and cared for all of our furniture. Even after the glass in one of my wife's china cabinet doors got cracked (through no fault of theirs, it was wrapped well but just got jostled on a very bumpy local road), their team simply told me that they were taking it away to get it fixed and they would return it at no extra cost to us. The process of moving , can be very frustrating. My move was from a storefront location, to another storefront. Everything and I mean Everything was treated, like they were moving their own stuff. Glass cabinets batch roller etc. It is one of the better experiences, in this move . Recommend to anyone. A+ rating by Bailey and associate. All kidding aside .
