We were surprised to see the variety of pan-hispanic foods and utensils there. And no wait or the inability to examine what you want. Their produce displays were impressive. It's a small supermarket with mostly Caribbean products. There is a fish department. They have a variety of the usual fish and some from the Caribbean. However, regardless of where the fish is from, YOU need to know what to look for in terms of freshness. The prices are reasonable. I don't know if the person behind the fish counter knows how to clean, dress, or fillet a fish. There are few if any Fish & Seafood places left. See photos.

I got to the Yelp event very early so I entered this store and got a chance to chat with Rebecca and she was very sweet and gave us a detailed tour and explained to us how the concept of the store came about. Plus I got to make my own peanut butter. The store is very clean. And very nicely decorated. It has a variety of items made locally. What particularly attracted me to their little place is that it seems to be the only custom prepared Indian veggie food offering place in Putnam Valley, close to Peeksville where I reside. There are others but they are a distance away in White Plains neighborhood. Ragam Deli will prepare delicious, fresh, authentic veggie Indian food for uou, made to order for take away. I have ordered food four times, including my favorite staples, potato cauliflower curry, okra, green beans and cabbage. I have been very satisfied even though my take away orders though in bulk are not all that large. Now the offering range is basic rather than exotic and hard to prepare. However, it is exzctly what you would want on a daily basis rather the weekly special eat out. But the food is tasty and just what you need as a regular bulk takeaway chow down. What has struck me the most is the freshness of the take away prepared items, still warm with the fragrance of the spices coming through. An additional bonus for me is that they made an effort to o make my food especially pungent (spicy) which is what Zi grew up with in Karnataka, Andhra and Tamilnadu. I asked and was politely guided to a reach-in freezer stocked with a few frozen versions. They were very commercially produced, but I was on a burek mission so I selected two versions: cheese, and Spinach, both contained preservatives. ($18 each -serves 4-5 as an entree or 8-10 as an appetizer/side dish. I make this dish at home, but it is time consuming and the ingredients can be costly so $18 is about right. SCORED ON Bulgarian yogurt and feta cheese! The small fridge is well stocked. Other finds included Rose jam, Turkish Delight jellies, and a fabulous pepper and eggplant paste ( shelf stable in a glass jar. ($12) Use it on bread, or get creative- I mixed a couple of tablespoons into my homemade pasta sauce. They have a good mix of Eastern European condiments, and staples.
