The neighborhood is a little sketchy on Main St. Poughkeepsie, but don't let that put you off. Once inside you wend your way through a maze of aisles, going past rows of recognizable produce and exotic produce. There's loads of fresh herbs, several types of mushrooms, and vegetables. It's not fancy inside. The shelves carry mostly Caribbean and Mexican products, produce, and household items. But, there are also the same items you might find in a local supermarket. There are Asian items on the shelves as well. There aren't many fish markets up here, compared to the City. The fish section is quite impressive. Whole fluke, mackerel, gigantic porgies, and other whole fresh fish. Further down are fillets and seafood. There is no fishy smell anywhere. The clams close when tapped. I was looking at the prices for the dim sum, it seemed expensive. But, then I looked online for some of the places we used to go in Chinatown, New York, oriental grocers charged a little less than a lot of the places we used to patronize. When you consider they're doing all the work it's really a bargain! It was one thing when we would take the D train down to Grand Street and walk a couple blocks and load up; now it's major operation. I'm so glad they are still around. The owners are always very accommodating and helpful.
