I want to love this place, so much. The people that work there have been so sweet, if you get there at opening, there is no wait, and for me it's extremely convenient. I got a few regular gel manicures that were ok however, I recently got a UV gel set. It took her over 1.5 hours, and I knew it didn't look right from the start. It was $80 for French, which fine. But, In 2 days one of the French tips chipped off, so I went back and got it fixed however, they did not put the UV gel back on, just the gel polish, but if it lasts, fine. The next day one of the nails broke entirely while I was washing my hair. The fourth day, the same nail that had been fixed, broke entirely. I am now 5 days in, and two of my nails are gone. I am not someone that can afford $80 for a manicure that doesn't last a week. While I love the technician, Joyce, I can not go back to her anymore. For reference, I've had UV gel sets on and off for years and have only ever broken a nail one time. I am careful and gentle with my hands. My mom also got a pedicure here and it is not good. They cut one of her toe nails too short and tried to cover it by painting her skin. Once that wore away, it's clear that they did something funky with the way they cut it and looks like she only has half a toe nail. Very weird. While I wish this was a great salon, it just isn't. I have been going to Shirley Nails since they opened. The quality of work has deteriorated tremendously. It's convenient in local. This is why I dealt with it. Well no more! I always get my eyebrows waxed when I get my nails done. I have burns on my eyelids!! It's so bad I had to go to the doctor and he gave me burn cream. I went and spoke with Amy and Nancy to let them know. I was very upset. All I got was I'm so sorry. Nothing else considering Nancy does subpar work can't do designs. I have not had any negative experiences here and I've been using the salon for over a year. Nancy does my acrylic gel nails and they last 3 weeks. Edward does my pedicures and they are also professional and the polish lasts. To the sweat shop comment, many nail techs commute and most work long hours. They depend on their salary as well as on our tips to make their living. read more

I am so very disappointed . I have been going to this nail salon for a few months . Normally I'm pretty happy . Well today was one bad experience . So bad I will not be going back . I called for an appointment . I went and we started with three different people . This is ridiculous. Then after that another person does my manicure . So I picked up a color . Of course it didn't looked the same so I changed to another color . I asked to cut my nails very very short . Right away she had not only an attitude but wouldn't do it . Then again I asked for three coats in my nails as well . I'm the customer I should be able to get what I want without a problem and certainly not with an attitude . So I go to pay and get my change . Disgusting service, my mom paid full to get her acrylic nails done and after 2 days they started chipping, we came back to fix them and they charged us $12 because they could not find her original color, but why charge when it's their fault? i asked her and the lady was being very rude about it and said we had to pay. They charged me $42 for a pedicure when on the sign it said $22 so they charged me $20 extra dollars for gel nail polish which is ridiculous. Also the lady that did my pedicure FLAGGED ME DOWN more than once for a tip after I tipped the man for my nails and the lady rushed through my pedicure. On top of that the guy who did my nails actually grabbed a $20 bill out of my wallet to give to the lady who did my pedicure and I asked for change back. She had tipped the person that did her manicure and then the lady that did her toes started FLAGGING HER DOWN FOR A TIP "Tip Tip!" Like ... that's just not appropriate or professional at all. I want to love this spa because it's so close to home, but my nails never last no matter what technician I see. At most a gel manicure lasts a week for me and I'm not super rough with my hands. Over the past decade I have had a love hate relationship with this nail salon. My last appointment here was the final straw. The manager Amy needs to get her employees in check. I have seen such bad behavior here through the years it's a wonder they still have customers. A pedicure should be a relaxing and enjoyable experience yet these employees make that impossible due to their constant chatting back and forth with one another. Sometimes speaking loudly. That takes away from the whole experience of a quiet relaxing environment. They talk about customers right in front of them and although one cannot understand what they are saying it doesn't take a rocket scientist to know when someone is talking about you. They rush through mani pedi's faster than I have seen anywhere else. Their nail dryers are outdated and they don't clean the filters on the inside. Power gel mani is fine but the pedicures not so much. When they massage your feet for 10 minutes it's not really a massage and more so a light rub- does nothing nor does it feel good. I also don't like how each worker does both feet and nails but they make you switch workers and have someone different to do your pedicure and another one for your manicure- I feel it's for more tips. I've also noticed some of the girls give you an attitude if you don't give a tip to their liking. I'm done giving this place chances. read more

I liked this place even though they are a bit pricy, but the last few times I was there I got the worst Mani Pedi's I like to use the gel nail color (Essie) It usually lasts a long time. The last mani I got with the gel polish was terrible. They had to have put something in the polish that ruined it. Maybe thinner to get the most out of a bottle? But 4 hours after the mani I had knicks and lines in the nails and was able to just scrape off the polish with my fingernail like it was crayon!! Sitting in the chair right now, and I think this is the worst pedicure I've ever had! They barely massage you and when the girl was painting my nails she used her finger nail to hold down my toe which was not exactly comfortable. The nail polish is watered down. And the polish she did on me doesn't look professional I should have saved my money and done it myself I'm so disappointed. She also put my sweat pants back over my leg while the lotion was still on! I do agree with the previous reviewer that you do get a nice (2 minute) foot rub, BUT a $14 mani/pedi up the road in Center Moriches FAR EXCEEDS the Shirley Nail and Spa. I got the mani/pedi on Saturday afternoon and by Monday most all of my fingernail polish is chipped and half off my nails. When applying my polish, she didn't apply it to my entire nail and left the bottom of my nail exposed. Why? Also, my cuticles look like they've practically grown all back (and now it's Wednesday)!!!!! My toes? Same deal-- polish doesn't entirely cover the nail. A lot of cuticle was left on my toenails too. I was so mad that I had to pay an extra $3 to cover the difference, plus a tip on top of that. NEVER AGAIN! I usually go up the road to Center Moriches on Main Street-- there's a nail place that has $14 mani/pedi Mon-Wed, and it's $16 the other days. Their job far exceeds Shirley Nail, and the fingernail polish stays on for many more days. My toes can go almost 3 weeks without doing anything to them too. read more

Came here for a pedicure, very average service, nothing really out of the oordinary. They do offer pedicure packages that are above the standard pedi, but they were very expensive like $56 instead of the regular $19 price. I liked that it was very clean here. A few weeks ago I went for gel powder, because my normal salon was booked, I waited 15 mins, with appointment, before I was seated. Once seated, I sat with foil on my fingers for a half hour, it was painful. The girl who did my nails rushed and they looked awful. I went there today and did not wait. I had awesome service and was really satisfied about the way my nails look.

Let me start off by saying I've been going to this nail place for 10+ years. The reason I continue to go is because the place is very clean and they do an OKAY quick mani/pedi if your looking to get in & out quickly. My favorite thing is that they offer a free massage at the drying station and they have the best massage guys! They do a very LONG back massage, don't forget to tip them! My final straw was trying a new service. I wanted to try the powder gel. Since I never got the powder gel before I didn't know what the process was all of a sudden she is putting on a clear coat and I look up and say, "wait this is the color? your done?" and she was just not phased by my concern and was just like "this is what you picked." I told her I wanted white with sparkles when I was picking out the color and that's what I picked. They argued with me telling me I picked clear with sparkles and I get it, it's a language barrier but when their examples suck they should tell you. Their argument was that the artificial nail the sample nail was painted on was white...that's great but I specifically asked for white not clear and instead of fixing it another employee came over & continued to argue with me about how it was my mistake. Finally I asked if they could just put silver sparkles or ANYTHING DARKER to make it look like a got my nails done. You could see the yellowing of my nails from past polishes underneath and it looked AWFUL. Finally they put a light pink coat over it and at least it looked like I actually got my nails done but it wasn't at all what I wanted. Everyone in the salon had to be aware there was an issue going on & never once did the owner come over. She ignored it, it was the end of the night and didn't want to deal with it, they just wanted me out. Terrible customer service!!! read more

I had a pink and white uv gel fill in and a nail replaced. They did such a horrible job. If I could take a picture, I would. My nails are crooked, the white part of the French is messy, the lines are not crisp and I was overcharged for the horrible job. I have been going to this nail salon for the last two years, when I moved to the area. I liked the fact it was clean and that it seemed like a good place. I was happy up until this last time I went. I came in to have my nails done for an event I have to go to tomorrow. all I wanted was for a manicure and eyebrow wax. The girl insisted on a pedicure I said no I didn't want one and she called me a cheap o. I was highly insulted I said I didn't want one and she wouldn't listen to me. I wasn't being cheap I didn't want it done. then she asked me what color I wanted. I said I was looking for a pink and she just decided the color I would have. My nails look horrible like peptonbismol. I had cut the tip of my pinky finger off a couple years ago in a freak accident, I had surgery and the finger is not the same as the others. It's very sensitive and she kept pulling my finger and every time I pulled back she laughed at me and said "it hurt" I said yes it does and she continued to pull on my finger. I said several times your hurting me please stop, she continued. When It came time to pay she called me cheap again for only giving a five dollar tip. I'm sorry but you were rude to me hurt me and made my nails look like crap and have the nerve to comment on how much I tip.
