The atmosphere is standard pub. Really slow kitchen. Good food. I had the grilled veggie salad. Nice and fresh. Veggies charcoal grilled. Nice. Spouse had blackened fish. Very good. Fries were good. This place is fantastic! My boyfriend loved his prime rib. It was cooked perfectly and the au jus was delicious. The house green beans with garlic butter are devine and the garlicky red mashed potatoes was great too. The only thing keeping this from a 5* is my "well done" steak tip could have been more well done...keep in mind I like my cow super dead and just under burnt. Otherwise perfection. read more

Really liked this place a lot! First time visiting and found the service, food and atmosphere very nice. The beer sampler is an awesome deal, eight beers for 9 bucks, your choice. I had the fried haddock sandwich and wanted to order another one, hide in the corner and inhale it! One of the best I have had in a while and I love me a haddock samich! My family ate here while on vacation this past week, and it was the worst dining experience we have had in a long time. Our server Jess was incredibly rude. She messed up and put in our orders wrong (mind you, I also have a food allergy) and then rolled her eyes when we asked for the corrected meal. Nothing was cooked well, and half of us got the wrong meal items. When we asked for the correct items she just walked away and sighed and never offered any sort of apology. Once the food did come out, it tasted horrible. I am extremely disappointed in this restaurant and we will never be back. There were no cars in the parking lot when we arrived and if this is typical service, it's very obvious why. If you do go, definitely ask for someone other than Jess. As a previous server myself, her behavior was inexcusable for someone in the service industry, especially given we were her only table. Avoid if you can. read more

Hadn't been here in a very long time and it has really gone down hill ... The hours say 1 am?? you'll be lucky to get in here after 9pm without feeling awkward like they are wanting to close. Beer was warm and foamy... Food was salty... People in the bar area made us feel very unwelcome and the bartenders seemed miserable..you could tell who they favored. The food was TERRIBLE. We ordered the calamari appetizer and it was way under seasoned and rubbery. We then received our entrees and my husband's cole slaw was spoiled. He immediately spit it out and I smelled it, it smelled like rotten vegetables. His fish and chips were frozen (only 5 miles from the ocean) and when we mentioned about the cole slaw the server got an attitude with us. The table next to us had to send back their food as well. I'm surprised by the negative reviews - we had a great experience and would definitely return without a second thought. Our server was friendly and attentive, and the food was delicious....started with an order of fried calamari and the batter was light and yummy. I went with the lobster mac and cheese and it was out of this world. The owner was behind the bar and was outgoing and friendly. The beer was fantastic, and we left with a couple of Growlers...and then came back the next day and got some more! Would definitely recommend. read more

Ordered a grey goose and tonic and got a gin and tonic, twice. the host was drinking at the bar the entire time and seating people. the host was rude when asked to sit in a certain area. most locals are not going in do to the lack of service and poor food quality. WE are locals and wont be returning unless Shipyard gets a grip on this location. read more

I have had many fine meals at the Shipyard Brew Pub in Eliot. As of late its been hit or miss. The meals are inconsistent with some of them just plain bad. Some examples are; salads swimming in dressing, skimpy servings, cold fries, etc.. It's too bad because until the last 2 years the meals were always above average. read more

This place has great potential, the atmosphere is good but the service is terrible. We sat in the gaming area playing pool and watching the games but not once did someone wait on us, we had to go to the bar to get a drink. We were never asked if we wanted a menu or another drink. I have been coming to this pub for quite some time, and the past few months it has gotten much better. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The menu has expanded greatly (with several items using beer in the recipe), and I feel that I get a lot more quality for my money. I considered giving it one star, just so that there were smaller crowds, I don't like competing for a bar-stool! This place is a hidden gem. read more

We had a get together here after a wedding rehearsal. There were 25 of us and the service was great. Dave was one of our waiters and he went above and beyond in taking care of us. The food was excellant and priced so we did nod not break the bank in paying. Excellant service and food. Would recommend and also go there again. read more

We visited the Shipyard Brewpub on Saturday, October 10th hoping to share a fun evening of great beer and burgers with out-of-town guests. Our waitress, Sarah C. was terrific - very friendly, upbeat and attentive. Unfortunately the food was horrendous. Three of us ordered cheeseburgers and they all were sorely undercooked and barely edible. No one wanted to make a fuss but all three of us ended up with serious indigestion for the evening and I would never go back. There are so many great pubs serving locally brewed beer in Southern Maine it is a shame to waste time and money at this one. read more

I have enjoyed the Shipyard Brew Pub for several years now. My family lives in the area and we often will go here when I am visiting. I find the pub like atmosphere warm and friendly. There is the bar area, dining area and an outside area when it is nice out. Also there is a game room with pool tables, foosball table, darts and video games which makes it a great place for families. The service has always been friendly and good when I have been there. Even when there have been times when the place was very busy or there was clearly a first time waitperson, it may have taken a little longer but they were always friendly. The food has been good. I love the chili here, just enough spice and nice chunks of meat. Last time I was there i ordered Green's gluten free beer which was one of the best gluten free beers that I have tried. Overall a typical brew pub with good food and atmosphere. I will continue to go here when I am in the area with my family. read more

I have been here more than a dozen times. My sister, brother in law and I wanted to take my dad out for a nice prime rib dinner tonight. Hearing that the Shipyard served prime rib on Saturday nights, we were excited to try it out. I'm not sure what has happened with the food, but it was pretty bad. The worst was the prime rib, which was tough, overcooked and full of fat and gristle. We let the waiter know and after checking with the kitchen, he informed us that unfortunately, they got a sub par cut of meat this week. He offered to replace the serving, but basically let us know it would be the same. My brother in law and I had burgers, which were dry and obviously some sort of frozen patty. I'm not sure if the reduced quality of food is the result of cost cutting measures or kitchen staff, but needless to say, I would *not* recommend going here for prime rib or for burgers. Stick with the beer, apps and salads. read more

The Shipyard Brew Pub is an overall good experience. There is a fair selection of Shipyard brews on tap, including revolving seasonal Shipyard beers and some Sea Dog varieties. The menu is predominantly normal pub fare and isn't too creative or outstanding, but certainly is good and well priced. There are ample dining areas both inside and outside in the patio area, as well as a nice arcade area off the side of the dining room. The only disappointing part of our visit was the service. We went on a weekday after the dinnertime rush and were seated in the dining area. The waitress's attention to our table was sparse to say the best. Out food busser was much more helpful and polite than the waitress herself. Not sure if this was an isolated incident, but nobody wants to go out to eat and feel as though their business is an inconvenience to the pub employees. If we visit here again, we will likely try to get a bar seat instead. The Brew Pub is worth a visit if you are a fan of Shipyard beer, but it would be wise to avoid the dining area. read more
