My favorite place to dine in Brielle, NJ! Located near the waters edge and convenient to town. There is ample parking. Decor inside is chic, costal yet rustic. An awesome plan for drinks and dinner. Fresh and flavorful! Had one of the best salads here. Beets and arugula with balsamic and crispy bread. Wow! What a combination. I don't think they have this on the menu anymore but they do have another salad that looks just as good with pistachio. The filet here was tender and flavorful. Highly recommend. My husband and I had a great dining experience at Shipwreck Grill. Our reservation was on a Friday night at 5:15. When we arrived, the atmosphere was quiet. By the time we left, the bar area was bustling. Our server, Gia, was attentive and friendly. She paced the courses appropriately. It allowed for a leisurely meal. The food was five-star as well. A few highlights. The Colossal Crab Cocktail featured premium crabmeat at its best. The perfectly diced beet salad was arranged on a bed of micro arugula with Vermont creamy goat cheese, crème Fraiche, pistachios, and pesto. The NY strip steak was cooked to the perfect temperature. The onion rings were light and not a bit greasy. In the petite surf and turf entrée, the filet mignon was tender and flavorful. The poached lobster tail was sweet and moist. The desserts looked amazing. The next time we visit we'll definitely save room. read more

It was great to see the Shipwreck hopping on a Friday night. First time back in quite awhile with friends for a nice dinner. Two in our group ordered the petite filet mignon 5 oz / lobster tail combo @ $37. Small portions for sure. I ordered the Scallops - 5 for $39. and the last ordered a stuffed lobster tail at market price... Everyone was happy with their meal but the portions were not generous. A modest meal calorie-wise. Passed on salads (extra) and desserts. The bar was packed and the dining room was loud - hard to have a conversation without leaning in and raising your voice across the table. Wonderful meal here. A friend and I walked in randomly on a winter weeknight with no reservations, greeted very nicely, and seated right away. Local place in quiet residential Brielle NJ, ambience is elegant but comfortable. Service was awesome all around, from Megan our server, and everyone else who came to bring our bread, apps, etc. Just warm and friendly and really made our night. I had the Shipwreck Old Fashioned, made with Bulleit 10 Year Bourbon, Luxardo Apricot Liqueur, Black Walnut Bitters, Cherry Bark Vanilla Bitters, Fresh Orange. I love simple old fashioneds and this may be the best old fashioned i've ever had. Bread service was great, with a side of lemon butter (I think) which was unique with both solid and melted portions, it was just great. i had the scallop sushi roll special for an app which was nice, as was my friend's calamari which i tried. The calamari had a sweet sauce, and I usually like straightforward with maybe some lemon, but this was good. Although a bit pricy, you get what you are paying for. Each option is of the highest quality, with a solid menu to choose from. Great service, with the upmost attention to minute details. Wowsers! This place is good! We came here recently for my father-in-laws birthday. Please note, that this is during the covid. We got there about 15 minutes before our reservation, and there was a "line" of people in front of the hostess stand. After we stood there for about 5 minutes without a hostess there, the people in front of us told us that they already checked in and we need to also. No big deal, we found the hostess and checked in. We then had to wait about 20 minutes for our table to be ready. After sitting down, a few of us ordered drinks. They were a little on the small side, but were good. All the staff wore gloves and masks! Also, the glasses that you get for water are so tiny.... My wife and I had to ask for a beer glass, otherwise they would have to fill them every 2-3 minutes. We all ordered various appetizers from salads to soups to crap and shrimp. Everyone enjoyed the salads and soups! The people that ordered shrimp cocktail said that the shrimp was a hair over cooked, but we will chalk that up to covid. The people that got crab, said it was fabulous! I got the fried calamari, and aside from forgetting to tell them no jalapeños, it was amazing! For entrees we all got a nice selection. The Fradiavaolo was amazing. The Shrimp Scampi was one of the best ever. The shrimp in both dishes were cooked perfectly!!! The filets and the surf and turf were cooked to perfection as well. I got a ribeye rare, and even though this wasn't a steakhouse, it could hold its own against most steakhouses. Desserts were a little on the smaller side especially for $10, but they were delicious. From the chocolate cake to the ice cream, they were pretty good. I got the key lime pie which needed a tad more zing to it, but the dish was good overall. All in all a wonderful place to eat dinner! Great spot and so glad they take resi's but it wasn't the best experience. The poor hostess was a young girl and she was very overwhelmed. The place was pretty packed and even with a resi on a Friday night at the end of sept we had to wait.. when we were seated it was so busy we sat for a while before someone came over. All good service industry is having a hard time. When the food came out it was kind of slow and they have a rule you must order everything all at once. I hate that. Anyways I got a drink to start it was good and we shared a bunch of things. Calamari, clam chowder soup, crab cake, and a cheeseburger. The burger came our much later than the other dishes we almost cancelled it. Our server was very nice but she did charge us $2.50 extra for a gross side of garlic aioli and another sauce for the burger? It was her idea and seemed weird to charge extra. It was about $100 for 2 of us- I was glad they had a parking lot and were walking distance from a bar where we met friends at!! That worked nicely- I wouldn't run back here but it seemed like a nice local spot. read more

It is a little shack right on the docks in Brielle. I had not driven through Brielle soon but it is a nice area. The Shipwreck grill looks like a real local spot which is always a good sign. We came for a party so it was more banquet style service. I got a little of everything and everything was decent. The sourdough bread they have was a good compliment to the meal as well. I am a sucker for sourdough. I also tried the salmon and prime rib. Both were banquet level food so neither bad or good. It was average. The green beans and chicken caesar salad were nice sides for the meal. Nothing stuck out to me as a dish I would return for. They have a big bar area which seems like a spot where the locals hang out. They also have an outdoor seating area if you want to enjoy the nice weather. Would I come back? One of my favorite places at the Jersey shore and for a multitude of reasons. Shipwreck is my wife and my go-to spot particularly in the fall, winter and spring. They have a huge bar that gets pretty packed during the summer and weekends but it's worth the wait. Chrissy, Paul and Ryan are the best bartenders around; funny, attentive and constantly on the move. They have a great wine list that changes quite a bit which we love. We'll ask Mary for recommendations and she never steers us astray. And the food lives up to the service; we go for the tuna tartare, sushi roll, burger and the bread is freshly baked and delicious. You won't regret a visit and we'll probably see you there!! read more

Went to Shipwreck to celebrate our anniversary, which we have had a tendency to do often in the past. Table service was very good. Ambiance, however, was affected by the noise level and somewhat crowded table setups (summer crowd accommodations?). As for the food, disappointment. Although tasty, the entree portions did not justify the prices. My grouper dish consisted of two very small fillets planted on a small medley of potatoes and spinach. My wife's scallop dinner consisted of THREE scallops! on a bed of what can only be described as succotash. At $42 per entree the value was not close to being acceptable. In addition, a mixed drink was mediocre making the night out a total disappointment. We left disappointed, not bothering to order dessert. read more

First, I rarely submit reviews for restaurants whether delightful or not. And let me say at the start, I didn't sample any meal or drink at this location. And the only reason why and my companion did not stay for a meal and cocktails is because when we walked in, there were too young hostesses sitting casually at their seats at the hostess station. When I immediately inquired as to the availability of seats inside or outside, the one hostess interrupted her gum chewing and initially uttered a sentence but in a very low voice which was not audible. When I asked again to repeat her response, all we got was a terse " we're booked". ....we're booked" No clarification, no indication of what the wait might be. I looked at my companion and said that's the end of our stay here. It was truly the coldest reception I've ever received upon entering a place of business. read more

We were in the area and decided to get just an appetizer and cocktails. I used Yelp to view nearby restaurants this one in particular had great reviews. It was deceiving from the main road but once your in their parking lot it's huge. It overlooks a marina, must be romantic at sunset. It has a nice size outside deck to with tables and chairs. We entered the restaurant and was pleasantly surprised. It was like I walked into s five star restaurant in NYC. We were greeted by the smiling host immediately, which in nowadays is rare. We sat at the bar and was served peanuts. Bartender handed us the menu. We were just caught up in the classy surroundings and uniformed waiters with great service. Everyone looks happy to be here and it's due to staff projecting a relax friendly and fun establishment. I finally ordered a margarita and my husband ordered a scotch. They were amazingly delicious. We ordered Shipwreck Sampler. Oh my goodness, the clams and oysters were so fresh, we were eating it with such enjoyed I think I was just smh. It was that good. Unfortunately, we dug in before we realized that we should have taken a picture. Take my word on this one, perfect for date night, business dinner, birthday dinners, or anything dinner. We went to the Shipwreck Grill on recommendation. We were three adults and two very young children. This is usually not a good plan. THE SHIPWRECK GRILL staff was OUTSTANDING!!!. They made our experience extremely enjoyable. Now for the food -- they brought the childrens' food almost immediately. Everything we ordered was awesome. My wife and daughter in law had fish. Both said the fish was fresh, tasty and perfectly cooked. I had the grilled pork chop. No exaggeration, it was the best pork chop I have had in a long time The restaurant was not over priced, the service was great and the food awesome. Shipwreck Grill is located along the water just across the bridge from Point Pleasant. We went in on a Friday night and showed up with a reservation for 2 at 6:30 and were told it would be a couple minutes for our table to be ready and the hostess said she would text us when we were to be seated. We waited patiently for 15 minutes outdoors and finally my wife went into the restaurant again to follow up on our reservation. We were immediately seated at that point but it was a bit off putting that we had to wait in the first place and then follow up when the restaurant clearly was not fully booked. The cocktails we got were bland and not very good. The food itself was mixed. We really enjoyed the fresh oysters as well as the coconut shrimp appetizer. My wife really liked her halibut dish, but I thought my tuna was over cooked slightly and not as appetizing. I would think you could find something better for cheaper in the area, but this is an OK option if you're looking for a seafood meal. read more

We ordered the lobster and pasta special with black truffle, scallops, and filet with scallops, and king crab. Everything was absolutely delicious. Our waiter Christmas very attentive to make the meal special for my dad's 69th birthday! I hope the put the lobster special on the regular menu. I would go back time and time again just for that dish! The only downside, they need more options on the kids menu. I would suggest snow crab legs or shrimp with French fries.
