My husband and I stopped by R Bar for dinner last night and had such a great time. It's a really unique and fun spot with such a great vibe, really good music, and delicious food. We sat out on their beautiful back patio and enjoyed some crab beignets, gumbo, and steak au poivre. Everything was really tasty well balanced. Our server, Lisa, was so kind and personable. Really exceptional. We're looking forward to coming back the next time we are in AP!

What a gem this place is filled with locals. They have live music and a cool and cozy atmosphere inside as well as outside. The food and drinks are amazing and the service is spot on. Our server Lisa was so lovely and kind and made sure we were not forgotten outside. We had the Blue Crab Beignets, Steak Frites Au-Pouivre and Gumbo, all very well executed and tasty! We will definitely come back! We miss you already Lisa!

You need the pork chop. I always have a great time here and theres usually live music when I go. Service is great and they really do the most to accommodate you. The most recent time I've come, I sat on the back patio for dinner. It was a great vibe for the nice weather. There was live music but it was crowded and I appreciated the outdoor ambiance. The pork chop was fantastic, as usual. Deviled eggs are also always good. Great drink/wine menu.

A slice of the south up here in New Jersey! We sat in back patio and it was really nice. Like being in New Orleans or Austin or cute parts of Florida. There was nice country/folk music playing (we apparently just missed the live music session) and lots of umbrella covered tables. The drinks are pretty good here and are nicely sized. We got the Tasteful Nudes, Aperol Blitz, Kill-Devil Punch, and Bubbles & Brine. We all enjoyed our drinks - I really liked my Kill-Devil Punch. Food was good as well and kind of runs with the southern theme. The shrimp tacos were seasoned to perfection. The crawfish tacos were good as well (though the shrimp was better). Our friends got the French dip with the au jus in a tea cup! And the other got a burger. I enjoyed it and would recommend sitting outside if you're looking for a cute vibe. Inside seems nice as well but was also getting pretty busy and loud.

Ambiance is great Food is really good. Hubby had the kill devils punch and I had a non alcoholic Guinness. It was so good. Tasted like the real thing. The Caesar salad was excellent. I liked the roasted quinoa on top. Was a little too much dressing for me. But was perfect for my husband I had the shrimp tacos and my husband had the steak tacos. I loved loved my shrimp tacos. And my hubby loved his steak tacos. We sat outside which was a lot of fun! Comfortable with great decor. Our new favorite place in Asbury Park.

Visiting the area for work. Found this place on yelp and I really enjoyed the experience. The food was delicious. It's a New Orleans themed menu and environment. I was there on a Monday night and they had a live band and the place was pretty full. My waitress was very friendly and accommodating. She was attentive, but not obnoxious. Overall, I enjoyed my experience and if you're looking for a casual laid-back environment, this is a good spot.

Walked in on a busy Wednesday night. Nice surprise of live music. Food was excellent started with the wings- seasoned to perfection, for entree I had the mussles and fries. Great cold beers and even tried some absinthe which they poured through a fountain, very cool place.

EXCEPTIONAL experience!! this food is so fresh and flavorful. the crab beignets are a MUST and will solely be going back for these. we got the sampler appetizer. and the cacio e pepe deviled eggs were such a delicacy and hit. all the food was excellent, and the drinks are crafted so well. the service was excellent: our server Carly was beyond attentive and professional and made our dining experience exceptional. great place for a dinner date, highly recommend!

Street parking hit or miss. Has different areas of seating a live band was playing but very loud after our day. We sat in another room. We ordered water and some apps. They had just ran out of oysters which is what I was looking forward to. We ordered the gumbo and the crab cakes. Service was incredible the food not so much.

Wow! Stopped in on a Wednesday night and was seated right away near the stage, which had an AWESOME Beatles cover band. I couldn't pass up their bourbon cherry coke slushie and it was as tasty and refreshing as it sounds. For app we shared the Cajun wings, which had a great dry rub and came with buffalo and ranch to dip. I had the pork chop special for dinner. It was a little salty, but heavy in flavor and cooked perfectly. The NOLA inspired restaurant also offers absinthe poured the original way. Cool touch to end the night!

Enjoyed this spot very much! Great food, cocktails and atmosphere. My only negative would be that there was a live band (which was great), but it made it hard to hear my friends at the table. Other than that, I'd highly recommend.

The crab beignets and gumbo were absolutely delicious! So good I forgot to take a pic of the crab beignets. The caviar bump was fun, but the raw shallots under the caviar overpowered the entire bite. When you eat caviar, you want to taste the caviar! The crawfish tacos were just ok. The banana foster bread pudding was amazing! The bar staff were friendly and very attentive! Excellent service! I love that you can reserve a seat at the bar!

The Matcha Matcha Man was smooth, creamy, and dangerously easy to drink -- the matcha coconut cream with the ginger beer gave it such a unique refreshing kick. The Lady Marmalade tasted like sunshine in a glass with the perfect citrusy balance and just enough sweetness from the marmalade. The food menu is definitely more small plates/appetizer style, but honestly everything tasted super fresh and packed with flavor. The coconut shrimp were jumbo and crispy with the perfect sweetness, the mango habanero chicken bites super fresh, and the wagyu sliders disappeared embarrassingly fast. The real star though? Watching this team work was like watching a group of artists in their studio. There's a rhythm to the kitchen, with everyone moving with purpose, communicating almost effortlessly, plating beautiful food, and somehow making the whole thing look calm and seamless. At one point I realized it was basically like getting to experience The Bear in real life, just without the dysfunction, screaming, and emotional trauma. All of the precision, intensity, and choreography of a serious kitchen, but with a team that genuinely seemed to enjoy working together. Even better, we were able to chat with the chefs throughout the meal. They were warm, engaging, and clearly passionate about what they're doing. That interaction made an already great dinner feel genuinely special. And then there's the food. Some of the best Mexican fare I've had. The watermelon margarita was fantastic, bright, refreshing, and perfectly balanced. The carnitas were the standout savory dish for me. Incredibly flavorful and tender, and exactly the kind of thing you keep thinking about after the meal is over. Dessert absolutely deserves a mention too. The horchata ice cream with warm cookies was phenomenal and the perfect ending to the meal. Do not skip it. Barrio Costero manages to deliver seriously accomplished food without ever feeling stuffy or overly precious. Sitting at the counter and seeing the care, technique, and teamwork behind every plate gave me an entirely new appreciation for what this kitchen is doing even treating us to an appetizer on the house. Exceptional food, exceptional team, and one of the most enjoyable dining experiences I've had in Asbury Park. I'll absolutely be back, and next time I'm heading straight for the chef's counter.

The restaurant was located in a multi-floor home on Wesley Lake, just around the corner from the hustle and bustle of Cookman Avenue. The first floor was more of a bar and lounge, and they had a live jazz band on the evening we visited. We checked in with the hostess and were escorted up to the second floor dining room, which was a charming spot that was breezy and comfortable, yet refined. The floor also had its own bar. Our server was on top of things, but was also clearly newer to the place. Regardless, once we got settled, she took our drink orders, which had taken us some time to decide on since the menu was creative and vast. I went with A Sidecar Named Desire, which included Courvoisier VSOP, Cointreau, Chinola passionfruit liqueur, and fresh lemon juice. I adore passion fruit and had always liked sidecars as well, so I figured it was worth a try, and I loved it! It had a good balance of tart sweetness and smokiness. My friend similarly enjoyed her spicy margarita, and we both imbibed while picking on some bread and herb butter. For our meal, we decided to start by sharing the Greek Salad, which was a massive bowl of romaine topped with tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, red onions, and Kalamata olives. We left off the feta cheese, but enjoyed the seasoned dressing made of red wine vinegar, honey, salt, oregano, and olive oil. It was a fresh and flavorful mix of vegetables that was a pleasure to eat. The entree options were endless and offered something for everyone. I wound up going with the Chilean Sea Bass, which was served over sweet onions and potatoes in a tomato herb reduction. The fish was tender and perfectly cooked. It was a light and tasty dish that seemed perfect for the Spring season. After our meals we were a bit too full for dessert, but we decided to get a second round of drinks, mainly because I was dying to try their Pistachio Espresso-Tini. Wow, was that drink delicious! It blended Ketel One Vodka, Mozart White Chocolate Liqueur, natural pistachio flavor, and fresh espresso. The coffee notes were not super prevalent, but the creaminess, nuttiness was the real highlight. It was a decadent way to end a delicious meal. After we settled the bill and headed downstairs, I noticed several bowls of after-dinner mints, which were a nice touch. From the relaxed atmosphere to the interesting and expansive menu, Moonstruck was a terrific option for our Asbury dinner experience.

Our server, Michael, provided by far the worst service we've ever received. He appeared to be under the influence of something, as he spent long periods simply standing around making odd faces while our table and several others waited and waited for him to acknowledge us. We were left wondering if anyone was going to take care of us. When my husband politely asked about our meal, Michael became rude instead of apologetic or helpful. The food itself had good flavor, but it arrived cold, like it was not served right away, which was disappointing. To end the meal, we ordered a cappuccino, but it was so poorly made that it tasted like nothing but warm milk. It was completely undrinkable. What makes this especially disappointing is that I've always loved Moonstruck. It's been one of my favorite restaurants because of its excellent food and outstanding service. If this is the level of service the new owners are willing to accept, I worry about the restaurant's future. I truly hope management addresses these issues because Moonstruck has always been top notch!

Now for the humans -- we ordered the sweet chili wings and a side of the sweet potato fries. The wings also come with a side of carrots and celery along with a choice of ranch or bleu cheese. I loved the sweet chili sauce and kept redipping into it. I wish the order came with more celery and carrots. The food and beers/cider came out rather quickly. The server came by every so often to check up on us and brought napkins without us having to ask! The dessert was amazing; the combination of the ice cream and the ooey gooey-ness of the cookie was the perfect end to our beach day. We barely left any whip cream. Since we went during LDW, the vibe inside was almost opposite what it was outside. But that may carry over during other times. Only downside of this visit was the wait time to be seated...and it was not because there weren't seats available. Unfortunately, this appetizer also came out with the main meals. I really dislike when places do that. For our entrees, my husband ordered the 'Bang Bang Salmon' which he loved and thought it was delicious but not worth the $26 price tag. My friend ordered the 'Grilled Skirt Steak' which she seemed to enjoy although it was a small portion. I ordered the 'Grilled Shrimp and Pineapple Skewers' which I did like but the skewers were quite small and it was mostly white rice. Our bill came out to $164 which I really think is WAY too high for these meals or drinks. Our server was nice; but she was rarely there. The busser, however, she was on top of her game and super friendly! It might seem funny to mention the busser, but she was really great. I would not come back and honestly, I think there's other options that are better. If I did recommend it to someone, it would be for the drinks as they had buckets and seemed very popular and 2 out of 3 of my party enjoyed them.
