In the past, this location had great donuts but the kolache dough was consistently over-proofed. The donuts were their saving grace. Now, everything is just bad. The standard "hot dog" type of kolache is always dense and dry, like the dough never rose properly. The entire thing is about 1" in height- not fluffy at all like other Shipley locations make them. The hot dog/sausage inside is the skinniest, smallest thing you could imagine. Today, DH bought the round sausage-egg-cheese and a round bacon-egg-cheese. I didn't get a picture of the sausage one because he ate it as we drove home, but only the very LAST bite had any egg in it at all! We thought they either gave us the wrong kind or forgot the egg entirely. Bite after bite, it was just dry bread with a few rogue sausage crumbles, and we were then surprised to see the tiniest bit of yellow egg for the last bite. The donuts? An embarrassment. If I ever had to imagine what it would look like if someone tried making donuts with their feet and iced with their eyes closed, this would be it. Why do they always look like they've been stepped on? No lift or airiness to the dough, you'll wonder if they're undercooked. They are sloppily filled, cream fillings are too thin and too artificial tasting, fruit filling is soaking through or bursting out the sides. One we got today looked like it was sliced open down the side. Last month, we ended up tossing half a box. We'll see what happens to the rest of today's box. Who trains these people? Who oversees what they are producing? Who would put so much money into a neighborhood business and allow this to happen, to be the standard? For better donuts, there are several much better options within a few miles and totally worth the drive. The $30 we spent today could have been better spent elsewhere for sure. Skip this location.

I ordered the breakfast sausage, egg, and cheese croissant along with 6 jumbo kolaches. Everything was delicious, I just have one neg....they were not as warm as I would have liked...just luke warm. The staff did warm them up for me like they offered but after a short drive they were not as hot as I would have expected. The shop itself was exactly what I would expect from a local mom and pop shop. The doughnuts looked so good, and vary acceptable size, the kind where you can eat with one hand without making any mess. I can't wait to go back. If I lived closer I would be there every day. They do have a drive-thru but be careful there parking lot is not very big and if their are 2 cars in line it blocks one of the entrances.
