This location just opened down the street from my house. I don't eat donuts much since I work from home and they are more of an office treat, but it is nice to have a donut shop close by. There were several employees working when I arrived, so I was helped right away. There isn't much to the location, just a lobby area and the display case. Perhaps they will get a few table and chairs in the future? There is a drive thru as an added convenience. Normally my wife and I will have breakfast tacos on Saturdays, so having a kolache was a nice change of pace. We each opted for the jalapeño, cheese, and sausage kolache. I also snagged an apple fritter. The kolaches were larger than expected, but the sausage was a bit small. There was a subtle hint of spice from the jalapeño, but I wish it had more. The amount of cheese used was ideal. The fritter was huge and was just as big on taste. I will definitely be back to this location if I want an alternative to a breakfast taco.

There is also a good selection of drinks as well. The staff are so friendly and welcoming, it makes the experience even that much better. The donuts are absolutely delicious, I had the matcha donut as well as the captain crunch, and bday cake donut. This is going to be my go-to donut spot now. I also got the opportunity to try the mango matcha refresher and OMG, it was so good and refreshing, especially during a hot texas summer. I look forward to coming back here and trying more things on their menu. I came as a part of yelp's hot matcha summer series, and I am beyond grateful to have been invited out here!

My wife and I also purchased the Captain Crunch donut to try. Since we visited about an hour before closing, it seemed like the staff was starting to wind down for the day. The matcha drink was definitely the highlight of the visit and had great flavor. Unfortunately, both donuts were cold and seemed a bit stale, which was disappointing. Overall, it was an average experience for me. I'd recommend visiting earlier in the day for the freshest donuts, and the matcha drink was worth trying.

It's a large restaurant and you have two places to order, the donut side or the taco side. They did not communicate very well but food makes it worth it. Just know if you order a donut on the taco side they may not have it on the donut side. Our first time ordering was a bit confusing but nothing too hard to figure out. Can't wait to go back. Feels like home!

I'm honestly extremely disappointed with my experience at The Original Donut Shop today. My mom and…read moreI stopped by to get a few carne guisada tacos, and this is normally a place we've always enjoyed. I've been coming here since I was a kid and have always had good experiences, which makes what happened today even more disappointing. We both took a bite of our tacos and immediately noticed that they tasted burned. We couldn't eat them, so I called the restaurant to make a complaint. I was told to bring the tacos back, so I did. When I brought them back, the "manager" asked me, "Where's the rest of the taco?" I explained that I had taken a bite, realized it tasted burned, and spit it out. She then told me she couldn't replace the tacos unless I had the entire taco. I understand needing proof of an issue, but expecting a customer to bring back an entire taco after they've already taken a bite and spit it out because it tasted burned is unreasonable. What bothered me most was the way the situation was handled. There was no real attempt to make things right or acknowledge that we had paid for food we couldn't eat. It's especially disappointing because this was a place I grew up going to and genuinely loved. After the way I was treated today, I will never be coming back. Good food can be ruined by poor customer service, and unfortunately, that's exactly what happened today.

We love that their donuts are freshly made to order, so we don't mind waiting. Unfortunately, our wait was unnecessarily prolonged when a staff member took forever decorating a dozen donuts, only to realize he was working in an old order slip! Man, the agony of waiting and anticipation was brutal. Thankfully, Azelin saved the day! Warm, patient, and professional, she stepped in and decorated our freshly cooked donuts quickly and skillfully. Shoutout to Azelin for being such a great team player! We took our half-dozen favorites: Choco-Chocolate Chip, Apple Cobbler, Caramel Pumpkin Cream, Orchard Glaze, and Donut French Toast. We'll gladly return, hoping for a smoother service next time. Fresh donuts are worth the wait, but better coordination and training would make the experience even sweeter!
