While visiting Houston we saw several Shipley Do-Nuts locations all around the city and decided to stop by to check out this local chain. The building is small and there is no seating inside, but they offer a big selection of tasty treats. Everything was displayed well and the inside was clean and organized. Stopped here on way out of town for breakfast. If you're a first timer I would say go in and also go to an original location not an express like this one. Ordered blind not knowing what looked like what. Got a Kolache combo with two donuts. The creme filled filling is more of a Cinnabon icing filling - which isn't really my speed. Just was okay. Drive thru is spotty at best. They posted their monthly specials on the widow where you pick up your food after you order through the speaker. Recently moved to Houston and heard Shipley's was a must try. I decided to try a local favorite, a kolache. I was expecting it to be sweet, but they only had savory options so I got the plain sausage kolache. It was essentially a skinny hot dog enclosed in bread. Maybe the other options are better, but I was disappointed. I will definitely be back to try a donut and update my review! Location-wise, this location is small and only has a couple parking spots in the back and you have to go through the drive-through lane to get there. I drove through and got a glazed donut and a vanilla iced coffee. The donut was fresh and tasted good. I wished it was as hot though. My ice coffee was good, just too small. I received a 10% coupon from checking in with Yelp so I guess I will come back on another day to get my discount. read more

We (my boyfriend & I) had a mobile order and the name on the Shipley's app (Luis) didn't match the email's name (Olo) of the order confirmation my boyfriend received, naturally this confused us & my boyfriend told me to tell them it was under 'Olo'. I was telling the older Hispanic lady "helping" me that it was under "Olo" I even spelt it out for her & she immediately got frustrated saying she doesn't see my order & doesn't understand the name "Olo"... I showed her the Shipley's app with the order & I described my order perfectly .. You would think this would help resolve the issue (nope lol) the older Hispanic lady "helping" me didn't even look at my app just got more frustrated & instead of trying to help the customer she decided to call over her coworker and talk about the situation very aggressively in Spanish (talk shit)... I speak Spanish so I knew what was going on. They finally get the order right it was on a receipt exactly the items I described but under "Luis Granados" like it was on my app... if they bothered to look. I could've just let this disrespect go & ignore it, but how she treated me rubbed me very wrong so I went off on her and made sure she knew I spoke Spanish and how disrespectful and just difficult she was being. I never once was disrespectful with her but she got frustrated immediately. If you cannot work in busy times why work the morning shift in a donut shop? She also got my order wrong & I left before I noticed because it was extremely busy & I thought at this point she would be thinking straight and able to complete a half dozen of selected donuts...Two of them were incorrect. This establishment is now offering lower prices based on loyalty points and check-in systems, effectively inflating prices for those that are not aware, do not want to or hold onto extra plastic, or have concerns keeping potentially malicious apps installed on their phones. Loyalty is earned; not demanded. Other reviewers have noted that the lobby is closed in the morning, so prepare to snake around the building locked into the drive thru for upwards of 10-15 minutes. Such a small, hidden location tucked between Holcombe and Old Spanish Trail Just west of 288. This location just opened so service can be a little slow during peak times. Do-Nuts is always fresh! Customer service is always good. I have a love hate relationship with this location. You can walk in to place a order or you can order via drive thur like most Shipley do nut locations. The reason for my giving this location 3 stars is because it's a safety hazard. Once you enter the drive Thur you cannot exit until you order. If you chose to walk in you basically have to park behind the building or on the street ( I work in the medical center so it's still dark outside on all my visits). The drive thur line is always super long and I always end up behind the building or on the side of the building for 10-15 mins. They need to install some lighting around the building my opinion. This place should improve the parking, the parking available is in the back, so you need to get in line get down to order, then get back in the car and make another like to get out, it doesn't make sense. I think they are a little understaff, this place get very busy in the morning, so they should improve in speed. We started to order a bunch of stuff starting with chocolate donuts... the lady who was taking our order said that she did not have chocolate and then she simply stopped taking anymore orders. After waiting for a while of silence we pulled to the window. There was no one there even tho we had just seen the lady sitting on the phone a few mins before. As a biz owner myself I know how had it is to get people to come to your place of biz to spend. Then when customers show up and your opaid employees causing loss of revenue is simply unacceptable. They're out of multiple items including kolaches, there's literally no parking available, and once you're in the drive thru line - you're going to be stuck there. Not happy with the service...the so call manager would not take my order at the window she wanted me to go back in line and order at the booth. Store policy. My son accidentally past the booth and could not back up to order so we proceeded to the window. Jasmine is one rude manager. instead of helping me she lost 1 customer. This location is new to me so I decided to give it a try. At 3:30pm Saturday Feb 02 I received the WORST customer service from a rude African American woman!!! I ordered 6 glazed donuts. But there were no regular glazed donuts so I thought for a few seconds what I'd like and then she said ok there's only 4. So I ordered the 4 and asked if she had bear claws and she responded yes!? Like I'm some kind of mind reader. I thought I'd ask bc they didn't even have regular donuts. Anyway I continued to order a chocolate donut and she angrily responds "OK MAAM SO HOW MANY DONUTS DO YOU WANT?!" Really?! Now she's raising her voice at me?!
