I just moved to the area and I have been searching for a nail salon in tottenville. I gave this place a shot and meh- completely disappointed. This was probably the most rushed gel mani and pedicure I have ever got, and the gel mani only lasted 4 days! They usually last me at least 2 weeks. They filed my nails awful crooked,uneven. I just moved to Staten Island and I walked into another place even though the salon was empty and attendants playing cards - they said no appointment and could not do my nails then I walked in Shiny Nails - they were sweet courteous and took me within 3 minutes - Now Shiny Nails is my happy place and GiGi was wonderful - found my go to nail salon!!!! read more

I work near by and decided to go in today for a Pedicure. The lady was nice who helped me. At the end, time to pay I asked how much and the girl who I think was the daughter of one of the ladies turned and asked. She told her $50. There was a man upfront who was working on a customer looked shocked at the price because he saw when I came I and what I asked for. Don't get me wrong, I will pay for services rendered. Came this morning for a manicure pedicure. My pedicure was UNBELIEVABLE. 35 minute leg massage was amazing (no extra charge was in the pedicure)! Maybe I'm one of the unlucky ones. But wow. This may take the cake for WORST manicure I've EVER gotten. Is this place for real?! Not sure what the Asian lady's name was but she shouldn't be working. At all. There were bumps all over my nails, and cuts - and there may have been more polish on my finger tips then my actual nail. In disbelief that I paid $45 for a manicure and pedicure... manicure with no polish, and uneven nails, and a pedicure that was rushed... I'll never come back here again. I've been going to Shiny Nails (On Page) for a little while now and I've just never had an amazing experience there..Not one person in the salon can do a decent set of acrylic or gel nails with tips--they come out a mess and each nail is a different lengths. That being said I was forced to switch to gel manicures which were also a disappointment. Two weeks ago I went in at 6:20p.m. and asked for a gel manicure and basic pedicure, they declined my services and said I was only able to receive a manicure. Ok, fine. Ten minutes into my manicure a gentleman walked in and requested a manicure and pedicure and they told him YES NO PROBLEM. I was so upset and asked my nail tech why and he said because there was only one pedicure girl and they let them leave at 7 p.m. I COUNTED THREE PEDICURE GIRLS! My manicure was finished at the same time as the gentleman and they were shoving me out the door while he was getting comfy in his pedicure chair. To add insult to injury I paid with my credit card and there was no where to leave a tip, I asked my nail tech if I was able to tip on my credit card and he looked horrified as if I had called his some awful name!! He said "yes I can do it but only this once"! Excuse me, I don't HAVE to tip you! I always tip very well even when the scumbags in this salon treated me like my money was no good. She knows the story of everyone who comes into the salon. Her and her staff make everyone feel beautiful at every visit. She seems to treat her staff well. My daughter and I have been going here for years and we have referred many friends. I'm told, Linda the former owner, sold it to the male manicurist which makes sense because it hasn't been the same for months. The staff still do a wonderful job, but in my opinion the cheery and relaxing atmosphere is gone. Recently, me and my daughter went in for manicures. Since they don't take appointments for regular manicures, we picked colors and were waiting about 20 minutes when this customer enters and the "manager" greets her with a big smile. So after waiting a few more minutes, a chair opens and the manager winks at the customer who just walked in and tells her to sit. I looked at my daughter in disbelief because we were next and instead of apologizing, the manager defensively tells me that the customer who just walked in was at the store earlier. (Sorry, I never got the memo that this practice was now permitted). It's clear this customer must have been very special for the manager to disregard us and allow this underhanded move. All I can say is, I hope it was worth it because my daughter and I left and we will never return. read more

The best manicures and pedicures on the south shore. You can't make an appointment for pedicures so be prepared to wait. This place is immaculate. I have had almost everything done here from waxing, to regular manicures, to gel manicures to pedicures. The quality is consistent no matter who you get but if you find a manicurist you like, you can make an appointment with them for gel or acrylic nails. Again, they don't take pedicure appointments and the wait can be about 15 minutes. Usually I go in, give my name and run to get coffee at the coffee shop in the plaza. read more

I am disgusted by how unprofessional these workers are. It's embarrassing to the nail salon. They spoke about me in Spanish, thinking i don't understand. Saying things about my legs and appalling comments. Whenever i get a regular manicure there it will peel off of my nails in a time span of two days. Hmm not sure about this place anymore. The first time I came I had a good experience, but then a day later my nail chipped.... Gel mani at that.. I went back the same day to fix it because I was going on vacation. Thank god it chipped the day before vacation. Went on Wednesday for a gel mani , today is Friday and pretty much all 5 nails are chipped now. Wednesday when I went, my nail woman was so extremely RUDE. I realized my nails wouldn't look good with a dark color because they had broke so I told her I was going to change my color..to a lighter color...This was before she put it on, so shouldn't have been a problem. She tried to convince me to get the black color I was going to get... I said no, I don't want that I hate short nails with black, then I picked my light color and she told me no!! And then another and she told me it was ugly um what ? What was it to her what color I picked even at all?. I was floored. She was just beyond rude and after I get my nails fixed it will be the last time I am ever in there. I don't need to go back repeatedly for chipping when gel shouldn't chip. This is my favorite place to get my nails done. I've been going for the passed two years religiously. I know it's hard for a girl, but I don't recommend going to this place on a holiday weekend. I would try to go sometime during the week if it's near a holiday. They are just too crowded & too much in a rush when it's a holiday weekend. I go every weekend to get a simple manicure which is $8.40. I try to go first thing in the morning on the weekend to avoid the weekend rush. I love all the ladies that work there. Linda is the owner, she always greets everyone by name. The girls that do the manicures & pedicures are all good. They can be a bit pricey when it comes to gel manicures or getting designs on your nails. I also like to bring my own nail polish, I feel like when I bring my own nail polish, it doesn't chip as fast if I were to use their nail polish. It's a nice, clean place. The parking lot is a bit crazy because there are other busy stores in the same lot. read more

I went here on the reference of a friend before a concert. It was around Christmas time and I asked for the color black, the tech who did my nails kept asking me why I wanted black and not red or green. I was then passed to a second nail tech who continued the interrogation about my nail color. After finished, the price was comparable to other salons, the tech did give me a bottle of lotion with a tongue in cheek comment about my hands being to dry. This is my go to nail place. I love it here so much that I still go here although I moved to NJ. Yes, my nails are that important to me - plus NJ places just can't do it like Staten Island and Brooklyn. Anyhoo - i have been going here for 10+ years and they never disappoint. Sue does my french light concept and i haven't chipped or broke a nail in I cannot remember how long. And I am not a prissy priss - I work (a lot) and clean my house like nobody's business (thank you OCD) plus do the unthinkable and use these suckers as tools every chance i get - better than my teeth right Dr. Caramico (the dentist)???? All the girls do great nails and pedicures but for the love of God please stop asking about the damn razor on the feet. Those have been banned for YEARS.
