This nail salon is better than most. They are cleanly and thorough while they work and most importantly, are kind to their customers. I came in at 10:45 on a Friday, 45 min after they open, and ended up waiting an hour, which was surprising seeing as though there was only one woman ahead of me in line. That being said, it would be wise to make an appointment. The women who made appointments were taken immediately. They don't have as many colors as other salons and carry a majority of Essie rather than OPI, but many of colors available were still flattering. I never had so much time spent on me for a pedicure so I was very impressed, and my manicure was expertly done. I will be back. read more

They are now located about a block away named joy nail & spa. I thought with the renovation and move they'd have cleaned things up and fixed some of the issues they were having however there is NO FIXING their customer service. If I could give ZERO STARS I would. I went in today asking for a gel manicure. Waited about 10 minutes until they sat me down, once sat I was only met with rudeness about how short my nails were. Sat with the lady for about 5 minutes for her to cut and file ONE of my hands before she got up and left to give someone else a pedicure. Then a second lady came over filed and cleaned my nails. She painted one coat (I got a black color), I kindly asked that when she did the second coat if she could do the sides of my nails because they were still blank and it looked like I had a skunk stripe down each one of my nails. With this she became frustrated and walked away. I was then moved to a THIRD lady when all I wanted was a gel manicure. I asked her the same if she could focus the second coat on getting the sides of my nails. As she painted the sides of my nails the gel paint got all over my skin. Now I kindly asked if she could just nail polish remove the paint from my skin. She then got extremely frustrated as well as if what I was asking for was unheard of and out of the question. They then tried to call over a fourth lady with this I got up and approached the owner. I explained that I had already been in there for over an hour and all I requested was a gel manicure. The owner told me I had two options either pay them now and come back at a later date or take everything off my nails and go home. Needless to say I wasn't happy with either option as I am sitting there for over an hour with three different nails techs that clearly couldn't handle the simplest of tasks such as a gel manicure. They then all started talking in a different language about me as I'm standing right there. I walked out and WILL NOT BE BACK. I have never encountered such rude people in my life, DO NOT GO HERE. Not only can they not do nails but they truly don't know how to speak to people nor problem solve a situation they themselves create. read more

I wish I can give this place -5 stars!!!!! So my best friend and I are starting our Sophomore year of high school, Monday September13th 2021.. we desperately needed our nails done.. So this is what my best friend asked for.. very simple, beautiful, cute, long, pastel style.. Very easy to do nothing too crazy! and she got nothing but a mess of lazy work!! when I asked the lady "Excuse me does that look like this picture" she continued to IGNORE ME! and I got very frustrated and continued to say things to get her attention and the more I did the more she purposely was messing up her nails.. when my friend asked her to fix the shape she got up and started throwing things and refused to fix her nails.. The color, the shape, NOTHING MATCHED THE PICTURE EVEN A LITTLE BIT! IM SOOO DISAPPOINTED AND VERY UPSET WITH HOW MY BEST FRIEND NAILS TURNED OUT! after sitting in the chair for 3 hours to get a shape like that. and she wouldn't even lower the price of her nails she still insisted $60 for TRASH! but we left no tip and we will never be coming back!!!! read more

I went to this salon which is under a new name and location, Joy Nails in the shopping center by Superfresh. First let me say they are expensive, second,they are not clean, during Covid pedicure and nail stations are supposed to be wiped down with a disenfectant. I witnessed a girl getting a pedicure while my nails were drying, after she was done, nothing was wiped down and he put the tools in the drawer! I was sickened by this. I told the owner and she just looked at me. The girl that did my nails applied the polish to thick which I had to let dry for over an hour under the nail dryer. Went to my car and put my seatbelt on and my nails smudged, went back in she tried to fix it and more time under the dryer!!! I was there over 2hours for a basic manicure. I showed the owner my nails, which the manicurist also left polish on my skin. And she took her tools out of the pedicure drawer! I questioned , it and she said it is sterilized , which I knew wasn't.. The owner is not customer friendly at all. I Will not be going back to this nail salon. read more

This is my favorite place to get a manicure & pedicures. They also wax eyebrows here, too.

Cheap compared to other places in the area, but quality is still great! $25 for a gel maniure, $25 for acrylic tips and $15 to fill them. Not bad! Clean place, convenient right off the train for after work. Definitely recommend making an appointment whenever you go, especially later in the day. read more

Lux nails is very small and hot in the summer time which annoys me because it's always packed. Unless you go in the very morning hours when they open you're going to wait a long time. I end up going here often just because of the proximity to my house but sometimes it's more of a hassle than anything else. I prefer to have my nails done by either the owner or one of the men, they seem to do the best jobs. I do wish they would update the nail salon. It's very old & unappealing. Price wise you can't be a $17 acrylic fill in until you decide to put gel on top which now runs you 35 and up. read more

I've visited Lux Nails numerous times for their acrylic nail special and pedicures, and have been pleased with the quality of my nails each time and left satisfied. However, today marks the third time I've walked in after work to find time to get my nails done with my very busy and fluctuating schedule and was turned away. Mind you there were only two people in the place!!!) "We're very busy" I wouldn't have posted this review if I didn't notice that it says "Walk Ins Welcome" on their Yelp page but I recommend them to take that down. I should've never returned after last time this happened when they made me wait for an hour and a half and I literally had to leave because I had no time at that point (The other woman waiting was also aggravated). The place is pretty small, to their defense, but if they "welcome walk ins" they should find a way to accommodate one extra customer in a nearly empty salon. So disappointed because they have done good work but never again will I come back. read more

This salon advertises a manicure/pedicure special for $17.95 and then you go to pay they charge you $19 under the guise of tax being added. Last time I checked $17.95 + ny sales tax does not equal $19. I would never go there again on principal - they practice false advertising and are unethical. I gave this place 4 stars because I love how my nails turn out. I go to Hannah, the owner, and she really takes her time (sometimes way too much time) to do a good job. And that she does. My nails looks great....I get the light concepts. And each time....she files it completely off and puts fresh on. Unlike other places that file a small amount and just add fresh on top of old. Hate that. The price...$49. I used to pay $53 at another place...so I guess that's the going rate. The salon itself definitely needs updating. It doesn't look half as nice as the other salons on the island. But, like I said....she does a great job. My only complaint would be that she is the only person that answers the phone to take down appointments and to ring people up when they are paying. So, she's constantly stopping working on me....to do those things. Hence, the long time it takes with my nails. If she invested in a receptionist...that would be amazing! read more
