Only one person is a little rough with your hands but for the most part you get an amazing experience. I drive from the North Shore and skip everyone to come here. I can attest to great service here or at Glamour (Richmond Ave). These ladies and gentlemen also love their tips and have no problem assuming your tip so be advised to be clear about how much and the form of tender you will pay. I have been going here for over a year. Came in last week. I got two extra services- one to fix a broken nail and a treatment. Usually I am charged $55~ for a basic gel pedicure no extras. This time I was charged $70 at first. The manicurist said it was due to the two extra services and because I got French (strange) I paid. She ended up chasing me out because she "forgot" to charge me for something. Total came out to $80! I had tipped them well (20%) To be honest the price was very shocking to me. So I share this information with my friends who also go here. Just to find out they charge them $45 for basic gel pedicure (they are white) Obviously POC is not welcomed here which is sad because I have been nothing but kind and engaging when I come in. Only one young girl is kind to me the other women ignore me for the most part and still do a nice service( which is all I care for) If you are black do not go here. My friend has amazing nails and is always doing cute and trendy designs. She tried this spot once and I loved how hair nails came out. Im from Brooklyn and decided to venture 45mins to Staten Island just to do my nails with my friend the expert in this area. They quoted her $50 but when I arrived they wanted $60 and if I added soft gel was going to be $100. Sure, let me splurge a bit since I'm already here, is for a fancy wedding and I barely do my nails at all! The technician asked if I had a design in mind or pictured to show her. Well yeah I did! And I wanted specifically two designs that are fairly easy to make. I requested a specific butterfly and flower. She started cutting some sticker (idk what's the name of it) to be the butterfly wings...I don't understand why. As she was making the butterfly design..my instant regret...looked cartoonish and nothing like the photo. Same story with the flowers.. My disappointment was real. Nails design looked fine if u ask anyone but if you compare to the reference is nothing like it and looks very childish. I'll upload some photos. When my friend went 3 weeks prior, she showed a photo and they did what she wanted. You will think that at least this nails will last. NOOOO...very wrong. I'm pissed. Has been 6 days in total and two nails are already lifting up. Also just so you are aware I've barley cleaned or exercise the past days..so there's no excuse for this to be happening. I absolutely had an amazing experience here. After moving the Staten Island a few months ago, I haven't found the right nail salon until now. Amy did my nails and was very attentive, she cared about the fact that I was growing my nails out and didn't want to cut them (no matter how uneven), and was very patient with me. I changed my nail colors about three times before deciding. Thank you to the receptionist for letting me walk-in and a big thank you to Amy for her amazing service. I will be back and I will be bringing everyone. I was also given a card with my colors on it, being told if they break within a week I can come in to have them fixed. I have gone to them a few times. At first they were great. There pedicures are "okay", only thing nice is the hot stone. You have to tell them a few time to please cut your nails shorter they will leave your toe nails long. The manicure I got someone who completed my manicure in about 5 min ( minus the nail painting). I always do the weekly polish which is supposed to last longer. I chose a marshmallow color. She did three coats and when I would ask her to see and I would pull my hand away she would hold tight to my finger so I couldn't see. Now my polish is thick and looks like I painted my own nails. Worst place ever - I went to this nail salon because of good ratings and they were pobably fake! The staff was nice until I showed how they did the pedicure, there were still dirt under my nails and I a dry skin around my toes. They told me that I have to pay $25 in cash even after I showed what they have done. When I refused to pay because I didn't want to waste my money for nothing all they did is they pushed me very aggresively out to the street saying get go away Yes-- go away! Ace did an amazing job on my nails and was friendly. The other staff however were extremely rude and confrontational. I stubbed my toe on a metal bench leg and my toe got a bruise on it I got nasty looks from one of the nail tech (who wasn't even doing my pedicure) and little did she know my bf is Asian and heard what she was saying to the owner. I went to Diva Nail and Spa for a gel pedicure. The pedicure was wonderful. It included a lengthy foot massage and my technician was lovely. I am giving Diva Nail and Spa a 2-star review because of the lack of hospitality of the owner/manager. Upon walking into a facility to receive any type of spa treatment, I would expect a welcome and a certain level of warmth to facilitate relaxation and an encouragement to enjoy the experience. When walking in, the manager at the front desk does not say anything; she doesn't welcome you to the facility. She tells you to choose a color and sit. The feeling was cold enough for me to consider not returning even though the work of the technician was wonderful. Came back here as one of my nails peeled off slightly and the gel cracked. It was the 7 days time frame where they guarantee to fix it for free. Joy who was the nail technician assisted with removing the nail and redoing it all over. It came out similar but slight different as my previous nail technician was out today. It looked thicker and abit wider due to applying a few layers over certain area of the nail which became bumpy. But overall you can only tell a big difference if you focus on it. Onward to 12 days, about 3 nails are starting to loosen up as you can see the air bubble lookalike and 1 finger had a chip. One reason why I tend to choose towards skin color so it's not as visible. The quality of service has across the board been less than above par! All of my technicians have been professional, understanding, and excellent. They do not rush your services and take pride in their work. Hygiene is another important topic for myself when getting my nails done. All the tools were sterilized appropriately, plastic bag for the pedi tub, and my technician wore gloves during my pedi! UPDATE: I decided to do an update after a couple of more visits and I am happy to say they are still my official nail "home". Got unicorn powder on my nails today and I couldn't be more pleased. My usual girl wasn't there today (Anna) but the rest of the staff is still amazing! (Jolie helped me today). You can tell they work as a team with the way they communicate. They've got a loyal fan in me. I recently moved back to Staten Island and have been looking for a new nail salon to call home. After being let down by one location, I've been a bit hesitant on looking for another. However, I passed by this location a couple of times while going grocery shopping and figured why not? Doesn't hurt to try. I'm glad I took the time to stop in because I think I finally found my nail home. When you first walk in, the setting and atmosphere of the salon immediately takes over. Nice, clean, and pleasant are what comes to mind. I'm greeted by a woman named Anna who turns out to be the owner. She lets me know there's a bit of a wait so I decided to peruse the nail color selection. It is HUGE. They even carry chrome powder polishes and cat eye gel polish which I'm glad to see they keep up with trends. I had just finished picking a color when I was told they were ready. I sat in the chair to wait for my pedicure when Anna handed me two menus: one for their regular mani/pedi services and the second was a menu for special pedicure services. The pedicure menu had 4 different types of scrubs/masks for your feet and legs (deep sea salt, lavender and honey, and I forgot the other two). I decided to splurge on myself and did the deep sea salt one ($45). QUICK NOTIFICATION! Their pedicures usually take about an hour! (It's worth it). A mask was applied on my legs and also had a steamer aimed at them to open up the pores to soak it in. I absolutely loved it. My feet and legs felt so smooth and nourished. It also comes with a complimentary massage. Anna explained everything and gave me all the details of the pedicure during the process. It was definitely worth sitting in the massage chair for an hour. I was also observing the rest of her staff and everyone was sweet and professional. Afterwards, Anna led me to the table for my gel manicure. She was careful and took her time to make sure the shape and color came out perfect. I definitely did not feel rushed. The rest of the staff weren't rushing any customers either. Once my nails were finished and I paid, Anna handed me a card with the name of the nail color I had picked along with the date. It allows you to come back within a week to fix your polish if it happens to chip at all. This is the best customer service I have received from a nail salon and Diva Nail has won me over as a loyal customer. I'm definitely looking forward to my next visit and can't wait!!! Best mani pedi in Staten Island! I went today for the first time, Jolie did my nails and I absolutely love the results. She took her time, was very precise on applying the polish and careful on cutting my cuticles (something that is often an issue in other places). She opened a new package of sterilized tools in front of me, used gloves and plastic bag for pedicure sink. Pedicure was very relaxing and massage lasted longer then average in other places. The place was clean and nice atmosphere. Prices are higher then average but you get a really good service. I didn't give five stars just because after she was done I noticed that the nail clipper she used, even if it was sterilized, had some rust by the screw. It didn't touch my skin but I didn't like it. I would came her religiously to treat myself so I figured for my daughters prom why not treat her since she wanted to get tips done. Boy was I wrong! The moment I told them tips with regular nail polish they almost had a heart attack and tried telling me it's going to be hard to paint it won't look nice and kept trying to push gel or sns powder I said no regular polish is fine she's only 11 no need to spend 60 plus bucks for tips. This review is for the chair massage. While waiting for my wife to finish her mani pedi, she recommended that I get a massage instead of sitting in our car in the parking lot. This salon is brand new and as such, the noise, smell and cleanliness are all way better than other places I've seen. The brand new massage chairs are in the back in a small dark room, and away from the brightly lit main room with soft piano music overhead. The massage itself was fantastic. I initially asked for a 10 min, but extended it to 20 min. You want to know if a masseuse knows what she's doing? It's all in the hands. Massages should be primarily done with fingers, and that's what I felt knead the knots from my shoulders. Good new place. Highly recommended. read more
