Stopped by craving donuts and saw this place had great reviews so came in with high hopes. Ordered 3 dozen glazed donut holes and 3 regular small kolaches. Said the order the same way, but not sure if she had selective hearing because she charged me for 3 dozens and began packing them. When I saw my total I clarified and told her I wanted 3 dozen donut holes glazed. She mumbled and said, "pft well next time say donut holes. *sigh* okay" and changes the order. She was also charging me for those 3 dozen boxes and 3 egg sandwiches rather than the kolaches? Donuts are okay; Kolaches are super tiny for the price as well. This is a cute little donut shop off of Beltline that also sells kolaches! I love that they give you the fresher donuts available (i.e. straight off the cooling racks as opposed to the ones sitting in the display case). What's even better is that they threw a handful of complimentary donut holes into the box! At just over $8/dozen, everything is priced fairly here. I didn't grab any kolaches this time around but I will in the future. I'm pretty sure the weiners were wrapped in bacon!!! read more

Definitely understand what the hype is about! These practically melt in your mouth! Everyone at work loved these so much so that there were not any left - and I bought at least 3 times more than was needed for our small team thinking they might take some home to their kiddos. I purchased plain cake, regular glaze, chocolate glazed, an assortment of "pretty" donuts plus bacon + jalapeño kolachies as well as a single spinach / cheese kolachie type thing for myself. Shin's is close to the office so as other individuals on our floor discovered that's what was on the table, they quickly disappeared!! The few times I've been in, the same two women were working the front and are always so pleasant and ever so sweet. They know their ingredients very well and have always been gracious in answering all of my questions, even if they have a rush inflow of customers which seems to be the norm. (I unfortunately have a long list of allergies so I'm often that annoying person in front of you - so sorry if you've been lucky enough to be behind me but I do try to be quick about it. I have most of my Q&A's down to a science.) That being said, I cannot emphasize enough how amazing their customer service is - I know the vast majority of donut shop employees are fairly decent but those two ladies are truly genuine, never rush you and always greet / leave you with a smile. (Very refreshing early in the morning, especially on Mondays!) Even if they were rude, to be honest, their donuts and pastries are so delectable, I'd seriously suck it up and go back and that is saying a looooot. read more

You can't eat just one. During my last fix, I mean trip, I mean stop, I quietly walked in and ordered a mix for my coworkers. A couple of the nearly addictive apple fritters, a couple of blueberry cake, a few chocolate covered and a mix of whatever else they opted to put in. A couple of dozen sausage rolls and 4 dozen glazed donut holes. (After all, a donut hole is lower calorie than a donut, right?) And secretly, I ordered 6 glazed donuts for me. I normally get a milk, but that denies room for a couple of more donuts. Shin's glazed donuts, when hot, should not be eaten all by yourself. You need a friend or your mom to help you control yourself. You may laugh or chuckle, but I'm deadly serious. Well I went here after reading the reviews. And the reviews did not disappoint! I ordered serveral things here and it was all fresh and the pig in the blankets they sell by the dozen and its a bang for the buck! With each other they suprise you by adding a few donut holes in your order, which is always a nice treat! They open bright and early and people are there ready to get these fresh donuts! I loved the variety they had and I will be returning here. My favorite thing was a huge Pig in the Blanket that had BACON in it!!! WHAT!!! Bacon! Yes and it was crispy! I almost feel over in the car. I didnt even leave the parking lot until it was all gone! I just sat there thinking to myself, who came up with this idea! It was to die for! I came here to pick up some kolaches before heading to the airport. Did you know they only make kolaches in Texas!? I definitely took them for granted until I moved to CA and they are no longer anywhere to be found. They sell small kolaches with the doughy bread, small kolaches with croissant bread, and jumbo kolaches with and without jalepenos. I bought a half dozen of the jalapeno ones to bring back to California. The owner, Ms. Shin, is super sweet and gave us a bag full of donut holes in addition. You should definitely reheat them in the microwave for 20ish seconds or warm them up in the oven before eating them! I came here based on a friend's recommendation and it was worth the detour. They offer a variety of flavors but their two main staples seem to be glazed and chocolate glazed. Both were melt in your mouth, light fluffy goodness. When you order a bunch of donuts, they also include a few donut holes, which could be the star of the show in their own right. I also recommend their hot dog rolls, which are so delish. It's a perfect balance, with the saltiness of the hot dog mixing with the sweet light dough of the roll, I could eat a dozen of those, wait, I have eaten a dozen of those.... What's better than donuts for breakfast? Apparently in Texas it's a kolache. We visited Shin's Donuts to get our fix of both things. We went around 10am but from what they're telling me, the best kolache flavors sell out by then so it's better to get there early. I had no idea what a kolache was before I visited Texas. It took me a few visits but I finally had the opportunity to try a kolache! So what is a kolache? A kolache is a warm, delicious, slightly sweet fresh-baked pastry traditionally filled with sausage, cheese, or fruit. I haven't tried the more popular fruit filled kolache but I had the pleasure of trying a plain sausage kolache as well as a jalapeño cheese kolache. From the two kolaches I tasted, the Jalapeño cheese kolache was infinitely better. I really think that you need more flavor than just a sausage and the jalapeño cheese definitely helped. I think next time I'm going try a sweeter kolache rather than a savory one because I felt like I was essentially eating a hot dog. Granted, it tasted better but that's the impression I got. We also got some donuts to go. The blueberry donut is delicious and their maple custard donut is to die for. They fill it on the spot with whatever filling you want so it's not soggy! The donut holes were also pretty tasty. Airy and not greasy at all. We enjoyed our pastries in the car and don't really have any complaints. They heated up our kolache in the microwave for us without asking which was nice of them. It was a tad expensive I thought with each donut being over $1.50 or so.
