Love that they recognize their local clientele, like myself, and still warmly greet those visiting or just passing through HB. If you don't see it on the shelves, most likely they can order it for you. And when getting your keys made, unlike the big box stores, you can get your keys made with the emblem of your favorite sports team, paraphernalia, theme and everything inbetween. It truly amazes me every time I go into the store, how much variety it carries within their moderately sized space. FREAKING PHENOMENAL! All young people were helpful, kind, welcoming and nice. The Owners SON! Was unbelievable professional and was able to get my Christmas Decorations as promised. Now being in a tourist trap area though tit wasnt going to go so well.BOY was I surprised! EXCELLENT competitive pricing, if they dont have it they will get it for you and it was such a great experience and i drive over 1 hour to get there! Parking is ample, accessible, local to the LIE, Sunrise and Montauk Hwy. They have the Green egg, BBQs, Fir pits, Supplies for cleaning the weekend house, etc. Also COOL keys ! A must visit. So I arrive at 259pm, right before 3p closing. Understood, had a cracked pool housing and needed quick fix of epoxy. Young man thru the door says we're closed. I said I need something quick. Walks away. Comes back to let a customer out, says sorry been here 6 hours. Yes, I get it, everyone works. Closes door in my face. Then proceeds to let 2 more customers out of the store over next few minutes. Complete disregard for a customer, I'll take my business elsewhere. For 3 minutes, you lost a customer and now have a nice Yelp review. read more

Quality hardware store with friendly service and most all of the things you'd be searching for in a hardware store. It's nice to walk into a hardware store and feel you could ask for help if you want it, but not being hit over the head by attempts to help you. Also, the cashiers were wearing Islanders gear! I moved back to Hampton Bays in March of 2020 after living in Riverhead for 16 years. I went to Shinnecock Hardware, what seems like, every day. The staff has always been so helpful. I needed things for my new home (and my Riverhead home to sell it). Granted, I could've gone to Home Depot & Lowes while in Riverhead to save a few pennys but there is something about supporting a local family owned business. I came onto Yelp to see what time they open this morning and read reviews... the two critical reviews inspired me to write my own. I never received the level of service from the big companies that I do at this store. The staff (Randy, Autumn & Jan- specifically) have always been great. They are always interested in whatever project I'm working on and if they don't know something they've been extremely helpful in figuring it out for me. If it's not in stock, they've ordered it from their supplier. I'd rather pay a few bucks more to stay in town and support my neighbors then drive 20 minutes to have an impersonal experience and save a buck. From random nuts and bolts, keys made, Benjamin Moore paint & birdseed... this is by far my favorite hardware store ever and I'm proud to call it my hometown store. Ace is my place. read more

ACE on West Montauk Hwy is the best by far. The people that work there make you feel comfortable about things you're not sure about they guide you and treat you like family. Dana runs the business and is so sharp there nothing she doesn't know about. We love her. read more

Amazing staff! Last weekend my car broke down a block away from the store. I showed up to their store with a dead phone and dead car battery 15 minutes before closing and they went above and beyond to help. Corey searched 10 minutes for a spare set of jumper cables that I could use and even offered to help me use them. After he found the only spare set was defective, he took a set of the shelf and gave it to me saying I could return them tomorrow if I needed to. The female cashier at the front also went out of her way to help me- even offering to buy the jumper cables for me as she probably needed a spare- I could return them to her tomorrow as well! I was blown away by their kindness and generosity. If I was a local, I would frequent this hardware store as often as I could. Next time I'm in the Hamptons in need of some equipment, I definitely know where I'll be going. read more

I love these guys. I am a beginner "do-it-yourself" person and they are always very helpful without making me feel stupid for not knowing some of the basics. There are a few choices in the area, but I will always stop here first. More often than not, it's the only stop I have to make. read more

The prices on the merchandise are very high. The merchandise is inferior and is not worth the price. However, the worst part of this store is that the service is positively awful. The owner Tom is nasty and uses foul language to customers; They do not stand by there products. I rate this store 0 stars. I would recommend take the trip to home depot or lowes. read more
