So when I have a chance I've been driving out east to tour what's in the book. This is the oldest operating family run hardware store on LI. My dad and I met Charlie who was one of the employees featured in the book and he let us take a picture with him for instagram. I bought a Stanley. I was trying so hard not to get one but I finally caved. They had 30 oz ones for $40. I don't know if that was a good price or not but I got a nice green one. I wanted to support the store and wasn't sure what else to get I looked around to see if I could get a Christmas gift for someone on my list but didn't really find anything. I came in looking for a replacement toilet flapper & was confident that I had picked the right one. The employee proceeded to tell me numerous times that I probably did not get the correct one & that he should take a look at a picture of it with his "trained eye"... of toilet flappers. After I told him numerous times that I know that I got the right one for me, he goes on to tell me that he's sure he'll see me back in here because again, he's sure I didn't get the right one. I work for a local business that often shops at this hardware store as well as multiple others on the East End because I prefer supporting the local businesses instead of Amazon & other online companies etc. I am so disappointed & for the record, I got the right one and most certainly will not be coming back.

Items are definitely pricier than what you'd get at a Home Depot or Lowe's, but that's to be expected at an independent shop like this one. Also, it's the Hamptons. I easily found most of what I needed just by looking around, but did need to ask the cashier where to find mulch, which was located outside and a bit away from the actual store, which is how I missed it. He offered to help me load the bags into my car, but I decided to get a workout in instead and to it myself (in retrospect, I wish I had taken him up on his offer - my body still hurts as I'm writing this review.) If you need something for your garden or home project in a pinch and you're in the area, you'll find it here, just keep in mind you may have to pay a little extra for the convenience.

I wanted to support my local business. As a long time East Quogue resident I have used Lopers…read morebefore. They gave me a price of 1900 dollars on a pressure washer. I found the same item..Honda 390 motor 4.2 gpm and 4400 psi at Home Depot and a couple other places. for about 1400 dollars. I decided to give Lopers a chance to make the sale. I went in to store and stood there for about 10 minutes while lady behind counter worked with customer. As they were wrapping things up, the phone rang and lady beind the counter took call and got invovled with phone client. I figured that was long enough to not even be acknowleded with a "I'll be with you in a minute..." or some other pleasantry. So now, I'm unloading my new pressure washer with an extra 500 dollars in my pocket.
