Not going to lie, I chose this spot because it has a large parking lot and if you are familiar with Philadelphia, you understand what a huge plus this is! The menu is vast, with many authentic Chinese dishes, as well as "American" Chinese. My husband and I shared the salt and pepper pork chops as well as a bowl of hot and sour soup and greens with garlic. All of that for less than $35. The service was fast, the food was delicious, and we will definitely be back.

I like this place, they have good food here but they did not open for dine-in until today I visited philly. They have good rice with salty fishes. Their crispy noodle is good too. The service is fast and nice. They packed up the leftover food for us when we couldn't finish them.

My family has been going to Shing Kee for a very long time, ever since it opened. Its our familys go to spot when we want to eat chinese in South philly. The workers/owners are always super nice and friendly. This the spot to go to if you don't feel like driving to Chinatown and finding parking when you're craving for canto food. Recently, we came with a party of 7 on a Sunday night and it was fairly crowded, but we were seated within 5 minutes. We ordered 5 dishes and the food came out super fast. My parents absolutely loved the deep fried chicken, and I also think it is one of the best dishes here (even better than Chinatown's). The salty fish fried rice was also delicious, better than most places. The birds nest was OK, we've had better. Even with 7 people and 5 dishes there was alot of left over. Overall, the food was good, service was good, there was parking, and it was all fairly priced.

Solid Cantonese food in South Philly without having to schlep to Chinatown. In fact, many dishes are just as good if not better than ones you can get from Cantonese places in Chinatown. I strongly disagree with the reviews that suggest the service is bad. It is not super friendly and smiley, but that is purely cultural. By Cantonese standards, the service is more than fine because the tables are tended to quickly, the food comes out quickly, the check comes out quickly after the end of the meal, they often give you orange slices at the end, and it is open late. Favorite dishes include the home style fish hot pot (not the grouper one), stuffed triple delight, ginger scallion lobster, roast duck & wonton noodle soup, and salt pepper fried chicken wings.

This place is a fushion between Chinese and Viet food. It's a family style sharing kind of place. My boyfriend and I ordered three dishes and it came out to be about $60, which was a little pricier than expected. But I also got French style filet mignon which is usually an expensive dish! It was perfectly cooked and delicious and I highly recommend it! We also got deep fried salt and pepper calamari and honey walnut crispy with mayonnaise shrimp but both weren't as satisfying as other places I've had it. I would return to this place to try other dishes and to order the filet mignon again tho! So highly recommend for the experience!

Very good Chinese delicacy, everything here tasted very authentic. Been here few times, should've taken more pics. Pig intestines was good, and peking duck a definite dish to get. Don't forget the beef chow fun as well. Yummy.

The homemade DanDan noodles were our favorite, which are served with ground pork in a spicy peanut sauce. We also got the three cup chicken which was so good, with a sweet, licorice-like glaze. Some other favorites were the black pepper chicken and the long hot chicken, if you enjoy spice. We had the ginger and scallion dish and was not our favorite, as the chicken had a unique consistency and was quite limp. Overall, good service and a relaxing ambiance in a bustling city.

ATMOSPHERE: Intimate spot with a small loft, soft music and big windows for people watching. Takeout and deliveries seemed to be the majority of the business. RESERVATIONS: Not needed on this particular Monday night. PARKING: Street or garage. MENU: Sichuan & Taiwanese dishes. No dim sum. BEVERAGE: Lychee Martini Perfectly chilled and balanced, complete with a whole lychee garnish. FOOD: Dan Dan Noodles We got it plain but proteins were available. Thicker noodles coated in a thick peanut-flavored sauce with a little kick of heat. Very good but I'd definitely add either chicken or tofu to break up the carbs. Dry Pot Dish Served in a steel wok, we opted for chicken which was super tender. Very flavorful dish but it wasn't presented sizzling as the menu stated. Taiwanese Beef Noodle Soup If you're a ramen fan and want something different, I think you'll love this as much as I did. A generous amount of thick noodles (available hand-ripped flat noodles are a $1 option), chunky slices of tender and fatty beef swimming in a savory and slightly sour dark-hued broth. Forgot to nix the cilantro but it wasn't overly loaded. Total yum. SERVICE: Greeting was immediate and friendly. Male server was knowledgeable but there was no follow up. OVERALL: A very enjoyable alternative to traditional Asian cuisine.

I got dinner here recently after not coming for a while and was reminded just how good it is. Really delicious, authentic, and affordable Northern Chinese food - my mom is from that region and always asks to come here whenever she visits. The noodle portions are huge and expertly hand-crafted and cooked for the perfect bouncy chewy texture. The dumplings are also lowkey the best in Chinatown, with a thicker chewy skin characteristic of Northern-style dumplings, a juicy filling bursting with flavor, and a perfect sweet soy sauce dip on the side. Service is quick and friendly, with the servers able to accommodate both Chinese and English speakers and happy to give recommendations. And you can tell from the clientele that this place is a hit with both Chinese and non-Chinese diners alike. It was packed on a Friday night! The cilantro had potent herbaceous flavor with some spinach(?) and mustard greens. Noodles were pleasantly chewy w variation in texture. Lowkey, everything else was alright. I like to be nice so I'll say no more. Cucumbers were fine

(Note: if you only want smaller serving of their great, thick noodles, order $4 add-on as a side in place of rice with regular dish.) I always have leftovers to enjoy at home. Dumpling orders are large and shareable. (Always 6 or 8 pieces.) My fave when dining in is amazingly delicious and huge Fish Fillet in Hot and Sour Cabbage Broth. (That's best with rice side to help absorb broth.) So good and healthful to balance the dough density of whatever dumplings you might also order -- they're all great. When getting order to go (or delivered) I like Kung Pao Chicken; it travels well. Order added green veggie dish for sharing -- I lean toward Chinese Broccoli; you'll really want the balance with the delicious dumpling and noodle dishes. However, I found that the meal didn't live up to what I remembered at the UCity Han Dynasty or the Sichuan food I've had at other spots. My partner and I ordered the dan dan noodles and double cooked pork belly to share, our longtime regular order. The portions were generous and prices were affordable, but both dishes fell short in some ways. The dan dan noodle sauce was mostly sesame-based with little of the chili heat I remembered, and there was only a bit of the ground pork topping. It left me wondering whether they hold off on the spice at this location due to the clientele, whether they changed the recipe, or whether it was just an off day. The pork in the double cooked pork was overcooked and tough, and the dish didn't have enough of the veggie components (leeks and peppers) to balance it out. Another minor nitpick - there was a World Cup game going on while we ate and the multiple downstairs TVs had the game on. The second floor where we were seated also had a nice big TV, yet it seemed to be left on a screensaver slideshow of random landscape photos. Would have been nice to watch the game! I was overall left feeling pretty meh about the meal. I'd give the UCity location another shot, but don't think I'd come back to the Old City one.
