Our burrito also comes with some salsa and a bag of tortilla chips. The best part about the burrito was honestly everything, especially the meat! The meat was so savory, juicy and well seasoned! I felt like I couldn't get enough of it. The other ingredients were really good too and I love that they didn't skimp out on the onions, cilantro and guacamole. The avocado in the burrito was really fresh and creamy! Even the tortilla they used to wrap the burrito was really good. It didn't have a weird bitter aftertaste. Nothing fell out of my burrito. I also like how they used diced red onions in the burrito! I highly recommend trying their burritos out. The price is also really good, by the way! Anyways, every pickle lover knows that Claussen pickles (mass-produced and sold, found at your local grocery store, and I swear the ones that are used in many restaurants) are the best kind to buy. At least, that's what I thought before Jerk'NPickle. I got the regular dill pickle and almost cried from excitement, as this was the most wonderful pickle I had ever tasted! Not that gross saltiness that you get from the canned ones, but a sweet, and even spicy flavor (AT THE SAME TIME!!!!) saturated the entire thing. I was so sad I had only purchased the two that I did. Had a wonderful shopping trip at the farmers market this week! There was a new Thai vendor selling…read moredesserts, drinks, salads, and more. I tried a few of the desserts, and they were delicious with a perfect balance of sweetness. Highly recommend checking them out. I also picked up a fresh Guinea fowl for only $18 and two razor clams (over 1 1/2 pounds each) for $18 each. I was lucky to get the last two! The vendors were incredibly friendly and provided excellent customer service. The poultry vendor recommended the Guinea fowl, and it was my first time trying it. I made soup with it at home, and the broth turned out rich, flavorful, and naturally sweet. The razor clams were exceptionally fresh as well. The market had a lively atmosphere, fresh products, great prices, and friendly vendors. I left with some amazing finds and couldn't be happier. Fresh, delicious, and a great value. I usually get them in the Thursday Daly City Farmer's Market but this is one of the Peninsula locations that sell on Saturdays. It was a very busy Saturday as there are surrounding businesses that are open on a busy street. I was able to find parking in an adjacent public parking lot so lucky me. I walked to the market and there it was so I snagged 10 Mushroom Empanadas. I asked the employee if they're made in-house or from another vendor and she said they're made in-house!! No wonder their crusts are so buttery and tasty! Afterwards, I walked next to their stall to Som Tum and saw a couple of packaged desserts. One was young Coconut with Coconut milk that you can pour on top and the other was the Mango Sticky Rice that you can top with the accompanying Coconut Milk and toasted Coconut. There are chilled Thai Iced Teas, Thai Iced Coffee and Thai Coconut Milk and a Thai salad on a bed of ice. I wanted to try the Mango Sticky Rice so I bought that for $7. The vendor was very friendly and told me that they use Champagne Mangoes if they are in season as they are sweeter. She mentioned another variety but I forgot what that was called. I saw some veggie vendors but didn't venture further in as I had to meet a friend.

According to the company's website they've been in business since 1967 starting out as selling BBQ pork out of a small shop near where the current Hsin Tung Yang's Wanhua store is located in Taipei. Whenever I am in Taiwan I always have to stop and get a box of their famous Pork Jerkey. As Ken K. said in his review...its too bad you can't bring it back to the US. Although last year my sister accidently brought back some in her suite case...sneaky! I have been eating their sachima cake treats since I can remember. Sachima are basically the Chinese version of rice crispy but made with flour and instead of vanilla and marshmallow its made with sugar and sesame seeds. The Taiwanese version is similar to the Cantonese version where it is slightly sweet. I've had sachima by other companies but no one can make them like Hsin Tung Yang. Their sachima is sticker and more moist....keeping your dentist in business for years to come.... They also make lots of other Taiwanese snacks such as peanut brittle and dried tofu snacks. I think their products tends to be superior over their competitors because I think they use better quality ingredients and they stick to tried and true products. This location in San Francisco was established in 1979 and is where Hsin Tung Yang's US jerky is made from. As others have pointed out it doesn't taste the same. Its sad but true. However you can find a majority of their products online for purchase, as well as your friendly neigbhorhood A$N $upermarket, be it mom & pop, or big name chain like Marina, Lion, or 99. But buyer beware. Most of the HTY food products are mostly made in the USA. Nothing wrong with that, but they will not taste anywhere near as good as the equivalents of the HTY offerings that are made in Taiwan (especially PORK and BEEF related products, like jerky or preserved sausage....I guess a well represented male organ shaped object if you will). You will find a Hsin Tung Yang in TPE international airport (Zhong Zhen airport in Taoyuen County), although you'd have to be a real ass smuggla (or butt pirate) to get any meat products through the gates upon arrival in the US. So just stick with safe and ok products. For what it is worth, the HTY brand of their Plum Drink (Gwei Hua Suan Mei Tang) is half decent, even though it doesn't come close to the kind in Taiwan. About $2.20 at your A$N supermarket if they have it, brown bottle with Chinese and English characters. Ingredients: plum, dried hawthorne, dried orange peel, honey, sugarcane, spring water, liquorice, malic acid, osmanthus flavor This bottle however appears to be imported from Taiwan, rather than made in the USA.

Unfortunately, my experience at the meat counter completely changed my opinion. I ordered 1 lb of chicharrón. I usually go to Chavez Market, but I decided to give this place a try. Everything was fine until the employee started cutting the chicharrón into smaller pieces. Instead of using a clean cutting board, he placed a piece of paper over a cutting board that had just been used for raw meat. While cutting, a large piece of my chicharrón rolled off the paper and touched the raw meat sitting next to it. He quickly grabbed it back like nothing happened, but I clearly saw it. To make things worse, another employee handed him a knife that had just been used on raw meat and simply wiped it off with a towel instead of properly sanitizing it. That is a serious food safety concern. I ended up paying around $15 for food I no longer felt comfortable eating. I really wanted to like this place, but proper food handling and sanitation should be taken much more seriously. I would love to get my money back but im sure they wont honor it.
