Prefer this local produce market over Dean's Produce in Millbrae. Clean, easy street parking, and cheap. Win.

Layovers happen often when flying and I often meet domestic and international tourists who had traveled and said they had a layover in San Francisco so they went to have a great meal around SFO but really they were having dinner in South Francisco in the suburbs not in San Francisco County but San Mateo County in the South Bay. Some say they stayed at a hotel in San Francisco by the Airport but really they stayed in South City but not in the city of San Francisco. The Pacific Market is a place in South San Francisco for great food from around the Asian Pacific Rim. You will find a seafood market which has everything from salmon to shrimp and meat to barbecue for any occasion . They have fresh produce and also have international beers and alcohol. You also find different types flavor condiments and sauces. They fly the food in from different countries from around the globe. You don't have to travel the world to enjoy food from around the Asian Pacific Rim because Pacific Market in South San Francisco is where you find it first if you are landing in SFO. Now I hope those who are flying to Oakland don't think they landed in SF at the newly named "Oakland San Francisco Bay Airport". Go to Pacific Market to grab drinks and seafood from different countries and different continents and different international flavors of sauces and condiments People travel from all around the world travel to San Francisco for the fun environments and to see the big beautiful fireworks on 4th of July over historical monuments

Well, they have and done so in spades. The store is spotless, organized fairly intuitive to shop and staffed by friendly and helpful folks. Product selection will not compete with H-Mart nor Kukje, but who cares when the quality (and price) are far superior. Yeah, the huge restaurant in the center is a bit odd considering it's expensive, and did I mention huge? The Bakery is fire. I heart Sulppang. Ladies that work there are very nice. If you gave up on Jagalchi initially, I encourage you to give it a go and experience it again for the first time.

The shopping experience collectively is rather odd. The entire store is very dimly lit and it's a strange experience. At first, it feels like an upscale food court, filled with upscale large kiosk throughout the store. They have an amazing Sushi counter, and amazing meat counter. Almost anything you could possibly think of can be found, or freshly cut to order. Just as you're walking around, there's small areas where you might find fresh noodles, or some definite, unique food finds like fresh tteokbokki. Yes I needed to buy this! They have an entire beauty section that's filled with the variety of products, many of them overpriced, but also hard to find in the average marketplace. The fresh fruit area is small, but abundant. This is definitely worth a visit, if nothing more than the experience. You will find some amazing and unique items that are usually only found abroad.

Grill city is the biggest one inside, and their selection of Filipino food is great! This place has a big meat and fish section, Produce, and aisles and aisles of your fav Asian ingredients, products, snacks! Parking is ok, it's in a shopping area with other restaurants, but it can get packed! We came here because they started doing late night madness- DJs at SFC playing good music, Filipinos getting together anywhere, having fun. It was an event for Spintronix, hosted by Franco Finn, they had giveaways, we stayed till the end, it was so fun hanging out with our family members there! We will be at the next one!

There's something about their food that immediately gives me that cozy, Filipino feeling, like a little taste of home! Of course, with Filipino cooking, nothing ever beats the flavor of what my mom makes, so it's always hard to call anything "perfect," but this was still really good, rich, and super tender. Definitely not an everyday meal because it's so hearty, but it hits the spot when you're craving something warm and comforting. My boyfriend really enjoyed his bowl too, the broth had a lot of flavor, the wontons were soft, and everything was served hot and fresh. The staff here has always been kind and welcoming, adding to that family-style atmosphere I appreciate every time. Seating is also super easy, and parking is never a problem, which makes the whole experience even better. Always happy to come back!

Their sashimi selection is incredibly fresh, beautifully cut, and perfectly packaged to-go. I'm a huge fan of their tuna--especially the otoro, chutoro, and akami--but you honestly can't go wrong with their salmon, uni, or any of their other fresh fish selections. Their hot food section is just as impressive and made fresh daily. Whether it's chicken teriyaki, beef teriyaki, salmon teriyaki, sushi bowls, nigiri, chicken karaage, or grilled salmon, everything hits the spot and tastes homemade. What really makes this place special is the family behind it. You'll almost always see Ken, Shu, Misako, or their mother Ryuko, and they make the whole experience feel welcoming and authentic. And if you're into whiskey or just a casual drinker, keep an eye out for their selection--they occasionally carry rare bottles like Yamazaki and Hakushu, which are getting harder to find these days. Overall, Suruki is a gem in San Mateo. Quality, freshness, and great people--what more can you ask for?

This market may not be your #1, but it gets my respect…read more You see. I haven't been to a large supermarket on the Peninsula that's as well stocked as this place. Not even its siblings. All other supermarkets, except for maybe Fresco in South Bay and Berkeley Bowl in East Bay, have a niche, and you're going to be inconvenienced if what you want to make is outside of that focus. This large market had a dedicated aisle to Latino products, one for Japanese, Central/Eastern European, Southeast Asian - mostly for Filipino and Indonesian products, an aisle EACH! Now, as you may know, Hashi has taken over the market following the retirement of the previous boss under Marina. Apparently the kids don't want to take over haiyaaaa. Not much has changed but necessary renovations are planned, though unfortunately, the European section was down to some canned drinks and Slavic sauerkraut during my recent visit. Other reviews have mentioned how cold it gets inside. During my visit, it was all right, about as same temperature as outside. They don't have a heating system, I guess. Now I understand that Hashi has a focus on Japanese products, but given the physical size and history of this market location, I do wish that its Japanese branding doesn't come at the expense of everything else, especially since there are major competition nearby and we don't need a rat race to the bottom.

Not too familiar with the area, we were unaware of the ownership change. Crabs at $7.99/lb. seem like a reasonable price, vegetables looked fresh. Meats and seafood are priced a little lower than other Asian markets. I was excited to find some sesame candy which reminded me of childhood snack, however there is no expiration date on the good looking box ($4.99). The food court area is being remodeled, we walked around it carefully. The crabs we steamed last night for dinner were pretty good. Today I tried the sesame candy and was very disappointed. As soon as I opened the nicely wrapped candy, the aroma of rancid sesame oil hit me and it tasted bitter.....basically the candy is inedible. I understand it may not be the fault of the market because this item was imported. The lack of expiration date should have given me a warning, my fault. Needless to say we will not be rushing back to shop here anytime soon, hopefully they do a better job on quality control going forward.
