We just discovered this place driving home from Hillsdale Mall and stopped in on a whim. We're so glad we did, and we will be back regularly! The owners are incredibly nice and helpful, their prices are very reasonable, the store is spotlessly clean, and they stock an amazing amount of European and Middle Eastern goodies that are hard to find elsewhere. Our favorite finds today were Danish feta, German spaetzle, Russian mayo, halloumi cheese, a huge loofah, and frozen sesame puff pastry. We also picked up a couple of staples such as honey and tahini. Stop in and say hello to them. Feel free to ask questions or let them guide your shopping experience and make suggestions. Cool little grocery store in San Mateo. I found this via Too Good to Go but did walk around a little bit before I picked up my bag. The snacks were past expiration date but they disclosed that in the description. The snacks were all really yummy though and they tasted fine since they were chocolate based mostly. They have a lot of international foods and ingredients here like saffron water, tahini, pierogies, etc. I don't cook a lot but can see myself picking up some ingredients here if I cooked more! Check expiration Dates before you buy. I decided to give this store a try on too good to go app, I have purchased from different grocery stores on that app multiple times but this time tried this store. While waiting for the bag I was looking around they had a lot of recent expired from beginning of Oct, and some from Sept.items on shelves . (Which is what I thought I was maybe getting) The lady build the bag from items in the back . I examined the items in my car and they are expired over 2 years and others 1year. Which is crazy to me , that app does let you know you can get recently expired items but years ??? Crazy . read more

Cashier was a thief. I decided to buy a bag of pita bread. The total being fairly low, $5.29, I decided to pay by cash to help a small business out by not using my credit card, to avoid the credit card fees. He handed me just bill. I didn't think much about it. I thought that they probably rounded down. I counted the bills after I got in my car and noticed that he handed back just $14 from my purchase. It didn't occur to me that they would be giving me less money, because that would be STEALING. read more

I saw this little corner market and thought it would be nice to support a small local business since I live only a few blocks away in San Mateo. The produce section is not great and most of the store consists of mainly imported packaged products. There were two men (who worked there) playing dice in the corner. I had a few items in my bag but ultimately decided that since they didn't really have what I was looking for, I would go somewhere else to pick up what I needed. I put the items in my bag back on the shelves and left. Remember the two men who were playing dice in the corner? They came out after me accusing me of stealing! Had they been doing their job, they would have noticed I put everything back rather than coming out after me yelling "WHAT DID YOU TAKE?" and demanding that I turn my empty bag inside out to show them. I'm offended, I won't be coming back, and I'll be telling my friends who live nearby to go to Dean's Produce instead. read more

Stumbled across this little market after attending an event at a hotel in San Mateo. I needed to pick up some labne and pita, and this place was close by. I didn't read any reviews prior to coming in - TBH if I had seen the review from June 2022 talking about the anti-Ukraine rant I probably would have found a different place to shop. Anyways, this place had a decent selection of Middle Eastern foods for its size. Notably, they have Ritter Sport chocolate bars priced less than $3 and Milka Alpine milk bars for less than $2. I don't think I've ever seen prices that low. Too bad this place is so far away from home, otherwise I'd be coming here more regularly. FWIW the person behind the counter did not engage in any political discourse as we checked out. read more

We came here a few days for some baklava which the guy was very nice in helping us select; it happened to be our favorite from Owasis in Sunnyvale. We also braused some other things & left with some meat pies, spinach & feta pies, rose candy for my niese, & date cookies. The pies were our dinner & lunch respectively & boy, were we satisfied as they were so flaky with well seasoned fillings. The rose candy is good with a little sugar & rose flavor that is not overpowering. We love the smooth filling of the cookies. The store is clean & well organized. So, for wonderful Middle Eastern groceries at reasonable prices with friendly service in a clean atmosphere, Mosaic cannot be beat. Keep up the good work guys. read more

A wonderful new Mediterranean market. It was super cute, clean, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. They have a wide variety of Persian, Moroccan, and Israeli foods. An awesome spice selection, meats, cheeses, fresh pita and lavash, pepper pastes, as well as some basic items (fresh vegetables, milk, etc.). They also have a wonderful dried fruit and nut selection. I rarely ever write reviews but I have to say that the falafel was truly amazing! I had forgotten how great that falafel is because it's usually just hard little balls - but this was so fresh and soft! This market is so clean and well organized and had such a great selection of foods. I just stopped in as I had not noticed it in one of my favorite little merchant areas that make San Mateo so great that I ended up stopping in and put together a really nice Mediterranean dinner with a Mezza plate and some yummy dinner items. This is a welcome new addition and they are just delightful as well! I hope lots of people support this new neighborhood Mediterranean market as it's pretty tough to open during this time read more
