I was so happy and surprised to discover Pure Grain Bakery & Café. As someone who is originally…read morefrom Germany, finding authentic German pastries here in California felt really special -- and it got even better when I found out the owner is actually from a neighboring village in Germany! Everything in the bakery looked absolutely delicious. We tried a quiche and a sweet pastry and both were amazing. They also have pretzels, which I'm very excited to try next time. The owners were incredibly friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even nicer. The bakery is located right in downtown Vacaville, so it's a perfect spot to sit outside on the plaza, enjoy your coffee, and have a pastry. The food tasted fantastic and we will definitely be coming back. Such a wonderful find!

I guess people of my color are made to wait longer to be acknowledged or helped. Only brown person in the room. Literally everyone shades light than me was helped immediately. I waited about 1- 2 minutes to be acknowledged while everyone just carried on as being "busy." Totally fine if they were that busy, but I was the only one who they made wait. And AFTER I WAS helped, the lighter shade of people were immediately helped and orders were taken... so not that busy if she didn't run back to finish up whatever had them keep me waiting instead of just taking my order and then get to the tasks since originally no one was behind me. Yt lady in front of me had turned around looked me up and down 2x and turned around. She looked shocked I was in there. I would definitely not go back. Not my type of ambience.

I've been coming here for a decade and their quality has only improved. The cafe is now larger and…read morea little more modern but they still left a touch of the aviation theme that started their journey. There is now a Tesla Supercharger so navigate to that instead of the cafe so that your Tesla preconditions while you enjoy your morning. They no longer support their own app and have turned the keys over to Square to create an account to make it easier to pay and reorder. The ready times you get in the app are later than it's usually ready so I recommend giving them 10-20 minutes lead time. Here's my rating of the variety of foods and drinks I've tried. Undertow - 8 - Fun twist on a cortado as the half and half is cold and they add a splash of vanilla. The hot espresso is carefully floated on top of the milk so that when you drink you feel the cold "underflow" of vanilla milk. Cortado- 8 - Small but powerful sip of espresso. I prefer it with half and half and a touch of sugar over Journey's method but it is a tasty sip. Lavender Latte - -10 - the best version of a lavender latte you'll ever have. Cherry Blossom Latte - 9 - The cherry syrup is very forward but blends nicely into the latte which gives it light finish. The coffee does get a touch lost so add an extra shot. Citrus Cocoa Latte - 9 - The orange syrup is prevalent throughout the drink but the cocoa starts to stand up more the last half of the drink. I don't prefer chocolate drinks but this doesn't taste like a mocha at all. Very well done Journey!!! Veggie n Egg Breakfast Wrap - 7 - Light and flavorful but needs some pop from another ingredient. I recommend using the Tapatio hit sauce to elevate it above our 7 rating for those that want some pop of flavor and can handle spice. Breakfast Hand Pie - 6 - The pastry wasn't crispy but it did have some crispy seeds on it to save the texture, a bit gummy for my liking. The filling was also creamy with more cheese than needed (and I love cheese). Although good, I wouldn't get it again because the flavor of the filling fell flat. First Class Wrap - 10 - If you can handle spice, the chipotle sauce is amazing amidst the variety of ingredients. This is my go-to and everybody I introduce it to gets it as well. Every business partner I've introduced this right off the freeway coffee stop has loved and kept as their own. It's a no brainer if you're headed down I-80.

Matcha was so refreshing, absolutely loved it. Would go back just for that. The price is steep, 10 for a small drink, I purchased 2. Inflation is high so I get it but if you're on a budget beware.

Monday had a completely different dynamic. From the very beginning, the staff was huddled by the juice press complaining about the music playlist and debating how & who was going to address the problem of the music playlist (or lack thereof - not sure which). Eventually, one of them acknowledged us and took our order. We sat down to wait and that's when the cashier walked over to the staff that was standing by the juice press and they continued complaining about the "playlist" or creating a playlist or something *I dunno* All I know is that one person was standing at the juice press and waiting for something and the other employee just stood there talking to her about the music playlist and who is "going to tell him". It was a full 6 minutes of us just sitting there. Nobody was even attempting to start my coffee order. My husband finally got up and told them that we are on a timeline. That's when the employee standing next to the employee staring at the juice press walked over to the Expresso machine and started to make my drink. Then they made it incorrectly, giving me only 2 shots not the 3 that I paid for. Then she proceeded to dump some of the liquid from the cup out and simply added another shot. This is wrong on so many levels. The coffee is delicious, the cold pressed juices are fresh and perfectly balanced. The customer service is hit/miss. Oh, and the tip jar is back front and center. Ironic that is is the last thing I was willing to do after the crappy service. PS Not sure what all the fuss is about the music playlist, BUT it's a BIG F*ing Deal for Mondays staff. Please address it so that they can focus on making coffee. Thanks.

Sometimes I crave just meat and cheese and no veggies which they serve. They also serve a ham & egg scramble which is eggs and diced ham. The food portion sizes are also large. One can easily share a meal if you are a lite breakfast eater. The sour dough toast slices were even large as well as my croissant. I ordered BLTA croissant, which is BLT and Avocado. Thick slices of tomato, avocado, and crisp iceberg lettuce with lite mayo spread and comes with your choice of sides. I choose French fries but they have a rosemary breakfast potato I stared to get but maybe next time for sure. My fries were served hot & crispy (not hard). The size of my croissant and mountain of fries covered my entire plate. There is a wait but it is worth every minute. Service is superb. The prices are very reasonable. I also had the peach mango mimosas called Da Bomb! And it was indeed. I got a nice buzz it was cold and refreshing. And not served in a narrow flute glass for only $11. I didn't need a second glass and probably would have stumbled my way out if I had. I've been traveling between Napa and Sacramento for monthly brunches for the past five years. It's a family tradition adopted following the pandemic. Most restaurants that I choose is based on the menu items. Oh and another entrée the Heritage serves is loaded grits. This and the meat lovers omelette caught my attention. Our tab plus beverage and tax for table of two was under $45. If you are a breakfast lover and want a nice breakfast meal in a cozy cafe located in downtown Vacaville where the price is right - you don't want to miss out. There's also out door dining. I don't know the history behind this place or how they been around but this was like finding a gold mine. Not sure how other businesses in the area can compete. Again it's a small cozy spot, warm house atmosphere, not noisy, and once seated food comes faster than the wait time. Excellent customer service. If I was a regular breakfast eater I think I could eat here everyday. I could surly afford it and that's a fact. Well Mac Donald's breakfast is fast and inexpensive and that's the only comparison. There's one restaurant chain I will no longer bother to dine at now that I've been to Heritage House Cafe. If you care not to try Heritage cafe for yourself that's okay. This keeps wait time shorter. lol. Seriously I think you will enjoy their meals, the atmosphere, great service and sparkling mimosas'
