This year I rented cabin 116, and while the cabin was very clean the mattress on the sleeper sofa wasn't accommodating at all. Very thin and springy. I wouldn't classify it as a 6 person cabin. The 5 star rating is really for the overall stay. Would I rent cabin 116 again? Yes, but only for 4 people.

The staff is very friendly and provides everything from towels, cooking pots and pans, all glasses/plates/silverware/mugs, and anything else you may need (other than food). The only thing it doesn't have is paper towels. We had a larger cabin that slept 8 and it also had a nice deck with propane BBQ, patio table with umbrella, and lounge chairs. The cabins are also cable ready, but the wifi is a bit spotty and you can only check email. However, you're on vacation, so detach from the computer or smart phone and take a walk to the lake to enjoy the other fabulous activities in the Wallowa Lake area. The resort is centrally located within walking distance to the lake, mini-golf courses, go carts, shops, restaurants, the marina, the tram up to Mt. Howard, and much more. The Wallowa Lake resort has a spa on the property as well, so bring your suit. Dogs are also welcome for an extra fee and you will be provided with a dog pack that includes a sheet, treat, and other necessities. Just be sure to keep fido on a leash while on the property or in a crate if you leave them alone. Otherwise, they're very accommodating here. I would definitely stay here again. The property is beautiful.

The entire facility is incredibly well managed. Our original plan was to have our dinners at the local restaurants. We found that the cabin was so well supplied and the view from our deck so lovely, we made our own dinner and enjoyed every bit of the lake view and surrounding scenery. It's an amazing place and we look forward to going back.

The fridge is small but adequate and is on the porch. Each cabin has a nice porch area with a grill, table, chairs, and fridge. The kitchen does the trick although at least in #7 what I thought was an oven turned out to be an old fridge that didn't work. Coffee pot and microwave are provided along with plenty of cooking supplies. The grounds are well kept with an amazing view of Wallowa lake. It's on the side of the lake away from the tourist areas so it's quiet. There's a game room and a playground. I walked around quite a bit and really enjoyed it. The owners and their family were friendly and helpful. I could really go on and on. No cell signal here and no wifi so it's a great place to unplug.

Our group of 16 adventurous women experienced the thrill of Class III and IV rapids while surrounded by some of the most breathtaking scenery I've ever seen. We were accompanied by five exceptional young men who were the epitome of true gentlemen. They took amazing care of us every step of the way--preparing five-star breakfasts, lunches, and dinners complete with appetizers and delicious desserts, setting up our tents, sharing fascinating history about the river, and, most importantly, keeping us safe on the water. Their professionalism, kindness, and hard work made the trip even more memorable. Each day brought incredible wildlife sightings, including bald eagles soaring overhead, ospreys, an otter, great blue herons, merganssers, and bighorn sheep. Evenings were spent relaxing around camp with great food, plenty of adult beverages, wonderful conversation, and sleeping under a sky full of stars. The rapids were exhilarating, the scenery was spectacular, the company was unforgettable, and the memories will last a lifetime. Thank you, Mackay Wilderness River Trips, for an experience I'll never forget. It truly was the adventure of a lifetime!

My expectations for the weekend were blown out of the water (literally) in the first ten minutes on the jet boat ride. I don't think we stopped smiling for 3 days. I can't imagine a more beautiful setting for a wedding if rivers and mountains hold a piece of your heart. The staff was incredibly fun and accommodating. Dax is the cutest 6 year old host you'll ever meet and I felt almost no stress before the wedding because I knew Joni had everything under control. If you want a wild jet boat ride, jump on Bucks boat ;) Mackay Bar is truly a hidden gem in Idaho. All of my friends and family are texting me that we forever ruined their expectation of a wedding. Sunset horseback rides, fishing, hiking and phenomenal food. I am forever grateful for our wedding weekend and Mackay Bar and we are plotting to get back there as soon as possible.
