What's also…read morespectacular, is the view of the Wallowas when the clouds and coverage decide to eventually burn off....this may take all day, but it's well worth the view when they're in sight. The Log House RV is conveniently located near Joseph and the Wallowa State Park, and exploring those areas was such a fun time that we're planning a return trip before the summer's end. Brian and Margaret, the owners, were both amazingly welcoming and inviting. My husband had reserved a luxury campsite, (eg "Glamping"), for my birthday weekend, and Margaret offered to have a small box of Arrowhead chocolate caramels, (from a local chocolate shop located in nearby Joseph), waiting for us upon our arrival. My husband took her up on her offer, and the candy was decadent. Also, Brian left a birthday card beside the chocolates that was personally handwritten by him. The luxury tent that my husband, myself and our chocolate lab spent our weekend was clean and cozy and had the absolute most comfortable bed that we've ever slept in - no kidding. The bathrooms and shower house was also clean, and they are even 2 sets of washers and dryers if you feel inclined to cleaning your dirty duds during your stay. Overall, a wonderful birthday weekend was had, and much thanks and appreciation to both Brian and Margaret!! **Side Note: A little hidden gem that's not to be missed and is located in nearby Lostine, is the recently renovated and re-vamped Lostine Tavern, (the locals call it "LT"), for either a delicious breakfast or lunch. Also, a little shop named "Beecrowbee" that's located in Joseph is a great stop for handmade soaps, unique jewelry and apparel.

Too many unknowns? What if I told you that a high caliber, professional, experienced, safety conscious river crew existed in Joseph, Oregon to ensure that, indeed, your biggest task would involve replenishing your soul and reconnecting with yourself and your family while being constantly in awe of your surroundings? Winding Waters River Expeditions surpassed all of our expectations. We wanted our young son to know the canyon and the river where his father had spent time as a child, a place so dramatically different from the Deep South where our son was born and raised. We wanted an experience that would provide memories for a lifetime, stories that no one would be able to match, if only because few people journey to this part of the Snake River to experience its wild and scenic beauty. What makes WWRE the best in their business are the people. From my initial call to ask about three day vs. four day trips (BIG TIP HERE... you will regret anything less than a 4 day trip, especially if you are traveling from anywhere in the eastern/southern U.S.; trust me on this!), to the Cessna plane flying out of the canyon to return us to Joseph, every detail has been thought of and considered. We enjoyed mouthwatering food for every single meal, locally grown and harvested, our personal farm to table restaurant for 4 days. Our son even learned how to identify and pick blackberries for our breakfast one morning (thank you, Brother Timo!). Every day of our trip involved lessons on the geology of the canyon and the history of the people who have passed through its walls. Our guides were patient, thorough, funny and cheerful, no small feat for folks who are working day and night to provide a memorable and safe experience for their clients. They are dialed and it shows! Great mix of options with something for everyone. We did a combination of relaxing on the beaches, swimming, fishing, and hiking. During the day, some of us stayed in the rafts with the guides and others ventured out in inflatable kayaks. This was a first whitewater experience for some of our group and they felt very safe and gained a ton of skills! The food was excellent too -- how often does someone cook you salmon and pineapple upside down cake while you sit in the river?! 10/10 would recommend.

We…read morestayed in the Sabai cabin which is the perfect blend of luxurious privacy and an 8 minute stroll to the lodge for meals and social time. The activities were amazing! Wood fired hot tub, sauna, couples massage, fly fishing (brought our own gear, we were a little early in the season but had a blast) -- and some of the best food on the planet!! Great wine and cocktails! Aligning our schedule to catch the wine maker's paired dinner was super! The natural beauty is world class! Breath taking sunsets, a natural wild river, snow topped peaks! All so beautiful!! The hospitality and service were amazing! The staff is super friendly and attentive. Great people! So fun to be in this community. We flew in with Joe in his Cessna from Pasco, WA (there is direct service to PSC on United from SFO). The 40 minute flight was a thrill and Joe is a sweet guy and a great pilot. So fun! Okay, the food isn't "foodie" worthy, but it is decent. The drinks - including a nice assortment of cocktails, are all well curated and fairly priced. The atmosphere is great. The back deck overlooks a grassy area with picnic tables and plenty of area to relax. Yes, the property is a no pet property, and that isn't all bad - especially as some folks are allergic or just plain don't care for pets. I think being a no pet property is great - and I am a take my dog everywhere person. I suggest going to the Wallow Lake Lodge for the Happy Hour. Get some fries, and then grab your dog and walk down to the lake off the property to end a great evening.

We traveled with two dogs who were welcomed just as much as we were by the inn keepers, and all our needs (and then some ) were met. Conveniently located, close to town, trails, etc.-The bungalow was perfectly suited for us- offering beauty, privacy, friendliness, generosity, comfort, peace, quiet, just to name a few things! You absolutely cannot beat the view out the front door and porch and everything you could possibly need for your stay is provided with a sincere commitment to quality. Ideal for a couple or single travelers with or without a dog. If you enjoy the company of animals, there are horses on the premises to visit with too. As a result of staying at Little Ranch B & B, we will be back to Joseph, for sure.
